Hello, Paadamshel, this phrase in Genesis is referring to seed bearing plants and trees. This type of vegetation produces nuts or fruits or pods or cones or flowers that have seeds in these parts of their structure. There are other plants that spread by rizomes, tubers, and roots. But I think these were made on this same day also.
First of all we learn that before anything else existed God was eternally alive. Next we learn that the heavens and the earth were created by God alone from nothing that existed before these came to be. Third, we learn that God is all-powerful to be able to create from nothing everything that exists in our universe, including stars, planets, light, all matter, all natural laws, all forces, and all creatures and living plants. And next we learn that humans are created by God. Then we learn that God determined that all He had created was very good. Glenn. I caution you. Satan is not human. He has to borrow a body. Ephesians 6 Satan, demons, principalities, powers, evil spirits: none have bodies. In the Old Testament they were called inhabitants. Satan took the body of a serpent.

I was reading in Genesis, the Holy Spirit stops me on verse 1. He said the 4 things
TIME: in the beginning__God set TIME ticking
FORCE: The Godhead created. (Father, The Word ( John 1:1) and Holy Spirit
ACTION: and the Spirit of God MOVED over
MATTER: earth, waters, atoms
God purposed, Word spoke: Light Be, and there was Light. (Purpose Spoke Light)
Carbon dating proves earth is around 2-3 billion years. SATAN was around but he's a created being. He cannot create dinosaurs, cavemen or anything other than chaos.
My personal theory is: Romans 1:19-20. God put the artifacts in earth for us to find; oil for our cars, coal to be warm, fresh water for us and salted water for creatures.

See, Isaiah 14 teaches that Lucifer (SATAN) is real. He hates God, Jesus, the Bible, Christians, and he KNOWS his end will be in the Lake of Fire. He wants TO HURT as many people he can who might possibly read a Bible and ask JESUS to come live in their hearts.
Satan sends out his lying spirits to shake your tiny faith and__take you to hell with him.
They did that to me. 20+years. I was suicidal. God reached down into the mess of my life and pulled me up; and showed me his Son. It took 2 years to learn how to get all those evil spirits out of my ears. If you choose Jesus and BELIEVE his story in the Bible: all those lying voices will just GO away.
ASK the Lord to help you. Tell Him what you need. I needed those things to stop telling me death is a fluffy blanket.
Read 1-2-3 John in the back of the Bible (in front of Revelation). Jesus is Your Advocate. Like a defense attorney. Whatever lies, doubts, confusion, chaos, rail to Jesus about you__Jesus will dismiss those charges for you. You will be free. Just like me. You will become strong inside.

The reference about Jacob and Esau are a refer nice to God's omniscience, that God knew before creation all that would ever happen, all that anyone would think, say, and do.
It is it talking about Jacob and Esau existing prior to conception.
In speaking by about Jeremiah, Gid is speaks my about what He had pre-ordained not about Jeremiah existing prior to conception.
Again, since these verses do not prove a spiritual pre-existence of humans, I am open for you to supply Scripture that clearly teaches this.
