Wesley's Notes for Genesis 4:17

4:17 And he builded a city - In token of a settled separation from the church of God. And here is an account of his posterity, at least the heirs of his family, for seven generations. His son was Enoch, of the same name, but not of the same character with that holy man that walked with God. The names of more of his posterity are mentioned, and but just mentioned, as those of the holy seed, #Ge 5:1 |- 32. They are numbered in haste, as not valued or delighted in, in comparison with God's children.

  • Badoni Kelvin for verse 17
God has commanded us to be fruitful and multiply, and His word is Ye and Amen. So God did some thing for the first creation to multiply, and that we dont know how. Dont forget God is capable of bringing out ways when there is no way. I conclude "God is God and we are humans, we cant reason 1 percent to his reasoning. If you believe God dont be confuse again about this. "
  • Dylan Jayawardena for verse 17
Cain 's wife was either one of his nieces Genesis 5 7 or one of his siblings Genesis 5 4 Bible doesn 't give her name, but it was one of his siblings Genesis 5 4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years and he begat sons and daughters OR one of his nieces. Genesis 5 7 And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters
  • Trent.. Which is the greater sin, incest with his mother or with a sister. We know they went forth and multiplied Eve certainly had additional children, Seth comes to mind, but certainly she must have had daughters as well.
  • Sorry but am I missing something here This is GENESIS Adam and Eve are supposed to be the first humans yet there s another TOWN with other people for instance Cain s to be wife and enough people to BUILD a city assuming Enoch didn t build an ENTIRE city single handed I see the common answer is that Adam and Eve lived to over 900 years old and so in that time had hundreds of other children to go out and multiply Well that clears THAT up then 0o
