I think Jesus is saying that we are all gods magistrates angels who have been led away captive by satan to live in exile on this earth, but that when we are converted then we are once again REconciled to Him as one! jonathankleck youtube you are exiles explains it better.

Can someone help me and explain Galatians 3:1-29. I can read it, but to fully understand it I can't. Or if you know of a commentary that does just this, would be great. I've found some, but it doesn't read like a story so I can relate. Thank you
  • Robert Hiltebeitel on Galatians 3 - 5 years ago
I agree that they go together, but actually when the Scripture says "Believe and be Baptized...", I would say that "Being saved is essential to baptism". Must believe first, then Baptism, as a testimony to God's saving grace with accountability in the presence of other believers. Blessings.

    I love Galatians chapter 3!

It's easily one of my tip top very favorite chapters in the bible.

Paul had a direct encounter/commission with Jesus. He was told to go see those whom God had ordained (Ananias) for instructions ( Acts 9). Paul was converted and baptized. Our heart is changed by receiving Christ, baptism is symbolic of Jesus' death (repentance), burial (baptism), and resurrection (Spirit). That's what it means to be in Christ v. 27 above 'amen'
  • Undoutingthomas on Galatians 3 - 5 years ago
Jesus' death gave all men/women access to the Grace of God, which is his Salvation. His grace is not a magical solution to the sinful state of man. Jesus told Nicodemus he must be born again, of water and Spirit Jn 3:3-5 He that believes and is baptized shall be saved and he that believe not shall be damned Mk 16:16 Baptism is a cornerstone of our faith

The only created, man, Adam, sinned. That person has to be Sinless, Spotless, no blemish, at-all. That’s why Jesus is referred to as The Spotless, Sinkess, Son-of-God: or the
Spotless-Sinkess-Lamb-of God. John3:16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only-Begotten-Son,That whosoever beleveth in Him shall not perish, but have Everlasting Life. He came to die for the sins of the World.

Why did Christ Go to The Cross? Is there a Payment for Sin With Out The Blood of The Lamb? No Man Can Come to Christ Except The Father Calls( John 6:44) When We Ask Forgiveness( 1John 1:9) You are Washed by His Blood( Revelation 1:5) He Shall Baptize You with The Holy Ghost(Mark1:8) You are Saved when The Above Happens. You Will Know(2 Corinthians5:17)Impossible Not to. SomeThat Day or In The Morning
  • Undoutingthomas on Galatians 3 - 5 years ago
Shackpoke you are on point, baptism is the only way to be "In Christ." Our death, burial, and resurrection is displayed through baptism (new creation), which is our side of faith and hope of salvation, just as Abraham's side was to obey God and offer up Isaac. His obedience in that act was considered righteous with God. Baptism is the only way to "put on Christ" thus awakening us to God's will.
  • Shackpoke on Galatians 3 - 5 years ago
How can anyone , that is honest, read Gal 3:27 and still say baptism is not essential to being saved? I am in no way skilled in the english language, but, I have no trouble understanding what that says and what it means. Might be I dont let modern man tell me how to get to heaven. I let Gods word do the telling.

Are You Saying The Author ( God ) Made a Oops ?/ The Man was not Hung for a Sin Worthy of Death. He was Hung because he was Dead. Hung for All to See. Christ became a Curse for YOU. The Only One that Could Redeem Us from The Curse. Sounds Like Your Way Off. / All Scripture is Giving by Inspiration of God--- 2Timothy 3:16.) Cursed is everyone that Hangs on a Tree( Galatians 3:13)
  • ProveYourFaith on Galatians 3 - 5 years ago
Verse 13 is off. A man is not cursed who hangs on a tree! A man who is hung for a sin worthy of death is cursed and if you hang him on a tree you must take him down so he does not defile the land! The author of Galatians is off on what it actually says in Deu. 21:22-23.

Verse 28~Race or nationality does not matter with God. The one who fears Jehovah God is what He looks for.

Abraham was indeed multiplied resulting in natural Israel but natural Israel was not the children of PROMISE READ ROM 9 ITS only CHRIST and his seed that are the children of PROMISE MEANING THE H.G. OUR NEW MAN.Thats y the New BIRTH IS SO IMPORTANT WE ARE GONNA BIRTH THAT NEW MAN WHICH IS THE PROMISE TH H.G. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:" Galatians 3:13 Redeem: to buy back to get back recover, as by paying a fee to set free by paying a ransom to deliver from sin and its penalties, as by a sacrifice made for the sinner to fulfill a promise or pledge to make amends or atone for to restore to favor by making amends to make worthwhile justify. . . "From the curse of the Law." What makes accursed of the Law? Christ has undone it and made for our complete reconciliation and perfect standing with God so that nothing of that should any more be in us, or have dominion over us.

  • Alex on Galatians 3 - 5 years ago
Gal 3/16 Tells us that the great PROMISE WAS REALLY PROPHETIC OF CHRIST AND HIS SEED. Now unto Abraham and his seed was tHE Promise made but he says not seeds plural Natural Israel But unto 1 seed which is CHRIST. Which is the multiplication of Christ,I will MULTIPLY THY SEED AS STARS OF HEAVEN. Thats y he refers to tHE H.G. AS THE PROMISE,HE IS THE MULTIPLICATION OF CHRIST N HUMANITY VIA TH SEED.
  • Alex on Galatians 3 - 5 years ago
God was very passionate about this Great Promise about multiplication of these 2 seeds, 1 was earthy n 1 was heavenly. When GOD cd sware by NO GREATER HE SWORE BY HIS VERY SELF IMPLING HE WAS GONNA MULTIPLY HIS VERY SELF IN HUMANITY VIA THE SEED OF THE SOWER/CHRIST WHICH IS THE LIVING WORD THE VERY SEED OF GOD.Thats y he refers to the H,G AS THE PROMISE HE IS THE MULTIPLICATION OF VERY Christ N US

When reading Galatians Chapter 3 vs 28 we must understand that when Paul says there is neither Jew nor Greek, he is speaking about a Hellenized Jew. “Hellenists,” from a word meaning “Greek” or “Greek-speaking.” To “Hellenize” is to adopt Greek culture and ideas. Verse 23 says "WE" were kept under the law. What nation was given the law? verse24 says "OUR" and "US". These are possessive words.
  • Barry on Galatians 3 - 5 years ago
This verse is accurate. Jesus did die on a cross, which was made from wood. Wood comes from a tree. Every sickness every decease Jesus redeemed us from. Declare upon your life according to gallatian 3:13 I am refeeded from whatever disease you are suffering from As every sickness and disease falls under the curse of the law. Repeat it over and over until you believe it and are healed.

Verse 23~The Mosaic Law acted as a guardian leading the Israelites to Christ. It protected them and let them know what Jehovah God expected of them.
  • A disciple on Galatians 3 - 6 years ago
There is no Our Righteousness, and the Lord's Righteousness, if we are truly saved and walking in truth in the Spirit; but our righteousness is His righteousness! The child is under teachers and guardians UNTIL he is an adult, and fully ready to manage the inheritance. Christ has released us from the bonds of sin, and therefore the demand of the Law against sin. It is not a competition for glory!
  • Jimmy a disciple of Jesus on Galatians 3 - 6 years ago
a schoolmaster is a teacher the law was our teacher to bring us to christ but after that faith has come we are no longer under a schoolmaster..pretty simple to me!! I do not keep any Law under the Levi priesthood...i am under the order of Melchisedec with Jesus being my High Priest..thats where i put my Faith..dont mix your righteousness with the Lords..a little leaven leavens the whole lump!!!

  • Randall Blair on Galatians 3 - 6 years ago
For the one who commented we are all God's children, please read the rest of the scripture. We are all definitely not a child of God if we are not in Christ Jesus, To be a true child of God you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and trust in His death on Calvary for salvation. Jesus said in the 3rd chapter of John, " Nicodemus, you must be born again, do not marvel at this saying God bless you.
  • A disciple on Galatians 3 - 6 years ago
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Does this mean that when we arrive in glory to meet the LORD in the Day of Eternity, that we will all look alike and be all the same? I don't think so! For John wrote in the Prophecy about a multitude that no man can number small AND greast, from out of every Nation and tribe and kindred and tongue worshiping before the Throne. And what about each one's abilities and work that Jesus shall give us to do, and the authority over cities etc? As far as any of us being superior or inferior, sacred or common, the leader or the helper NONE of those things have anything to do with us in Christ! The things that we see and experience now in this world about who's the greatest, and who is only in the world for serving their betters, does not exist with us in Christ! We are ALL brethren, and Jesus alone is our Master, our Leader, and our Superior! Do each of us actually have diversities of gifts, abilities, callings? Are we not all individual and particular members of the body? But all of us together IS THE BODY!
  • Alex on Galatians 3 - 6 years ago
Now unto abraham and his seed were the Promises made but he said not unto seeds plural (natural Israel ) but unto 1 seed which is Christ the Israel of God,Thus its CHRIST that is gonna be multiplied as the STARS OF HEAVEN,THATS Y the sower wants to sow his incorruptible seed in our hearts that it might initiate a birth of christ in us. Unto us a child is born unto us a son is given, The new birth
