    We are to Study to shew ourselves approved unto God, as a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. If you want Gods approval then study. Too many Christians never bring their Bibles to church or ever read their Bibles and they are easy pray to every wind of doctrine that comes. They believe every word from the person in the pulpit must be true but they never read it themselves. I have encourage people to read the Bible because some people left their churches because some of their teachings were not in the Bible. There are many in false churches today. They preach another gospel. They are leading many in the road to hell.

    The world is the kingdom of Satan, the evil world. Thats the reason God sent Jesus Christ to deliver the sinners through His blood from this evil place to the Holy Kingdom of God which is heaven the. In Matthew 4:8, 9, Satan offers his Kingdom to Jesus Christ if Jesus will worship him. But, no way.

    There are mysteries and mysteries. There are revelations and revelations. As a matter of fact, there are insights and insights, and in all these, when God, in His mannerisms and commitments, is upon a vessel that is committed towards Him, which is coworker with God, such individual can't but minister the way the Apostle Paul did through his letters. What really got my attention is somehow, in different categories; his salutation has great intimacy with God through Jesus Christ. And recognizing who he was prior to the encounter that he had with the LORD, and then looking at the things that had been deposited on him to dispense and administer to the Gentiles through the Holy Spirit, he wrote with such audacity and seriousness. Simply look at the beginning of this letter to the Galatian Church. It says: Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father. A simple look at that, reflects where he got is apostleship from. You see, he was prior to the encounter that he had, a great persecutor of the church, and he somehow finds it difficult to believe that he didn't have it in all those years while he persecuted the Church. And because of that great and mysterious encounter, and the fact that he did not consult with flesh and blood, but did separate himself unto God, in so as to search, learn, investigate and really study the things of God through Jesus Christ. He cannot but write with such in-depth and bountifulness about the knowledge of God and of our LORD Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the World. In that process, God in His mercy and lovingkindness, revealed the person of Jesus Christ unto him. It also demonstrates that, whenever the Gospel is correctly dispensed and administered through the person of the Holy Spirit, in truthfulness, and rightly, grace and peace from God the Father and from the resurrected Saviour must of a necessity accompany it. Hence, He wrote with great assurance, so as to be able to deal with all the vices, and wrong doctrines that had been taught to them. That's why he said it without mincing words. Now the things which I wrote unto you, before God, I lie not, verse 20. That is worthy of note, and that is because, in the things of the Holy Spirit, particularly when you have heard from the LORD, and that is as led through the Holy Spirit, you don't need to consult with flesh and blood, but simply honour God and follow the guidance and directions of the Holy Spirit. Well, in addition, it should be mentioned that Paul's appointment, was a bit different to others before him; and that is very clear when you look at the type of encounter that he had with Jesus Christ. The truth is, God has called individual Christians differently, and what matters most is that we respond to Him accordingly and as led, and also that no matter what, we should simply stick to whatever area of ministry He has for us. The fact is, when a person becomes born again, he is delivered and saved, as it were, in to a calling. And while there are such that have been able to precisely identify theirs and have plunged into it, there are those who are yet able to identify it. Interestingly, all Christians, have, one calling or the other, therefore, when you find it, honestly you won't be jealous about any other. And that is because, in so far as you are in it and you abide strictly with it. He that calleth thee will guide, lead and also instruct you. And with that, there is inbuilt protection, because there is a covenant in place. When you do your part of it, God has no choice, but to honour His part; for He alone is forever trustworthy and eternally dependable.

    If you want to understand what Paul is saying in this letter, you cant read just one chapter and expect to fairly evaluate the whole Book. Please read all six chapters; they make up the whole letter, intended to be read by the congregation in Galatia. By doing that, you will find the following:
    1. In the first chapter, Paul is presenting his credentials, and describes what the problem was, without spelling it out;
    2. Beginning with the second chapter we learn exactly what the problem was: the teaching by some; including Apostle Peter ( Galatians 2:11), that in order to be saved you need to be circumcised, plus other works of the flesh described in Galatians 5:19-21;
    3. Throughout his letter Paul mentions circumcision many times: Galatians 2:3, 7-9, 11; 3:3; 5:2, 3, 6, 11; 6:12, 13, 15;
    4. In order to combat this false teaching, he expounds on the fact that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ, not by keeping of the Ceremonial Law, which was fulfilled in Him.
    By reading only parts of Galatians, many Christians reach the wrong conclusion that Paul is against keeping the Ten Commandments. That cannot be further from the truth. Here is what Paul declares: What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law Wherefore, the law is holy and the commandment holy, and just, and good Romans 7:7, 12.

    I see the grace of GOD at work in the life of a man who was an enemy of the cross, but was apprehended and mercy found him. It is my prayer that like he did with the Apostle Paul, GOD may arrest all those that have been persecuting the church until they become instruments for the propagation of the gospel in GOD'S hands. Amen.

    Which really Is not another but there are some that would exclude you entirely from having a part in the redemption and free gift purchased and made possible only by the death and resurrection of Christ.

    @Ben I believe that this cursing is relevant in a sense. It is not cursing ppl who are soley in the wrong but it is cursing those who pervert the Word of God and lead ppl astray. There is a difference between someone consumed in a life of sin looking for answers and someone who is causing souls to stray from God. They will be accountable for those souls
  • Bruce Kane on Galatians 1:10 - 11 years ago
    "Let your faith rest not in the wisdom of me, but in the power of God." The word dwells richly in my heart and mind. "Those who seek me early shall find ME" So, imprssing men is not worshipping God, but rather " Vanity of vanities saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities, all is vanity." "Comparing spiritual things with spiritual." Bruce Kane

    "It is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous." Rom. 2:13 I think if Paul or anyone else for that matter made this statement from any contemporary church's pulpit he would be tossed out on his kiester. But he has made this statement.

    The 1st chapter of Galatians is speaking to the hearts and spirits of the people that be encouraged to live by the word of GOD and don't be persuaded by other doctrine I know exactly when the saved me. delivered me, and just when HE made me free. Therefore there is know need for me too sell myself short by tampering with the HOLY GHOST filled spirit that has been entrusted unto me by the good LORD. I too was a modern day Paul taking the people off to slaughter. I didn't kill them physically, but I had no respect for myself, or anyone else. I thank GOD for my road to Damascus that caused me to be changed by the renewing of my mind.

    please remember that that Paul by the Holy Spirit is warning Beleivers that the Gospel of the Grace of Christ is being PERVERTED and that they are being REMOVED from the truth in Christ. This accursing is directed at the PROPOGATION of ERROR and perversion. Salvation is by Grace thru Faith alone NOT of Worke lest any man should boast. Examine the many warnings in this book of LAW (works) vs GRACE. see ch 2:16-20 3:1-5 etc. It is essential to remember that Paul taught a MYSTERY (secret) that was never before revealed to man in the scriptures.( Gal 1:11-12) ( Rom 16:25) ( Eph 3:1-11) ( Col 1:24-28) The Gospel which Paul taught us is NOT the same Gospel that Peter and the 12 taught, thus the conflict. see Acts ch 15 of the great council and compare with Gal ch 2:1-14.. there are 2 different gospels shown in each passage KINGDOM and Grace. see ephesians 2:11-18. we are not spitiual Israel but the Body of Christ. Not Blessed with a kingdom on earth BUT Blessed with Spiritual Blessings in the Heavenlies( Eph 1:1-3). At the Rapture of the Church we are called to our heavenly home which is what God intended to be our destination else how does he fix the damage in the heaven( I cor 2:6-8). remember SIN has stained the heavenly places as well as the earth. God created the Heaven and the earth for his dwelling place. Satan stained heaven and earth with his revolt and sin. therfore God must heal both. Israel's Kingdom with Christ on earth and the Body of Christ in the heavenly places with Christ as our head. Thus the warnings of Galatians to NOT compromise on the DOCTRINE of THE GRACE OF CHRIST to another gospel.

    to jan, the bible says that to follow the apostles doctrin. witch is baptizing in JESUS name and to have the holy ghost. and living a holy life and to worship GOD and HIM alone. cuz there is one GOD,one faith,one baptism.and to CARLOS i wanted to tell u that JESUS died on the cross for our sins. but when he came down from heaven before they hung him he was manifested in the flesh because we can not see a Ghost right? so thats why HE did that. but HE IS ALIVE!

    Since cursing those who are wrong does not seem to fit the new testament gospel, I have searched the Analytical Greek Lexicon to see if the translators may have missed something. With the definition of "Anathema" the word is presented as a compound word, (ana & thema), and defined;"To submit a statement or report of matters to a person's consideration" as used in Acts 25:14 & Gal.2:2. The Gr. ana is defined as through the midst of; we would say thoroughly. Thema (themelion) is defined as; "to lay a foundation". In 1 Cor. 3:10, Paul uses the same word for,"I have laid the foundation". I feel this would be a more fitting choice of definitions than to curse those who are in the wrong. So a better wording for Gal. 1:8 & 1 Cor. 16:22, would be to; (Thoroughly teach those who err in order to lay a foundation for faith and doctrine). This (more gospel like) concept, is all in the Greek grammer book. Romans 12:14 says "Bless, and curse not".

    question i need scripture on people talking about others teaching a false doctrine. if true or not should it be.i believe we are to cover a brothers offence and go to him in private.if he does not recieve we are to take another with us.if he still does not then we take before the church.i do believe let him be cursed means by God not by us and not over a Christian group on t.v.
  • Ben weaver on Galatians 1:9 - 13 years ago
    Since cursing someone for an error seems to be contrary to the gospel, I have attempted to study the Gr. lexicon. I think I find that Ana-thema is said to be a compound word, (ana) meaning again, and (thema) meaning to lay a foundation. The same Gr. root (thema) is used in 1 Cor.3:11 where it states "Other foundation can no man lay...". If my finding is correct, teaching someone who is in error, seems more proper than cursing them. Love to all in Jesus

    In Gal. 1:18-20, Paul says that James is the brother of Jesus. I believe/infavor to the preacher who preach bravely that Jesus has a brothers/sisters based on the writing of the apostles. In Luke 2:7, Mary's brought her first born son. The word first born son easily understood that whe will deliver next son, second, third & so forth. But if the word used Mary's brought her only begotten son nobody's can argued nor debate. Another verse to testify that Jesus has a brothers/sisters through their neighbors confession with a names in Mat. 13: 55-57. Also in John 7: 3-5, his brothers did not believe in Him. This is the reason I believe to the preacher who preach that Jesus the son of Mary has a brothers/sisters.

    Quote:

    "Did Jesus have a brother?"

    Yes, yes my friend. He had several siblings. When His "father" died (at a relatively young physical age for Him), Jesus became the man of the house.

    Paul's exhortation is very much timely until now...
    There are many gospels introduced by false teachers who claim to be credible and God-sent gospel.
    But Paul was clear enough in telling us in verse 8 that "...though we (Paul and other apostles), or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."
    Indeed, there is no other TRUE GOSPEL on earth that ever existed on the face of the Earth than the gospel of the LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST- the Lord and Savior of my life.

    Paul was separated from the womb but yet God allowed Paul to go through all that he did first before God revealed Jesus to him on the road to Damascus.
    God's plan is the best plan.We lean not to our own understanding but trust God in all things.
