People's Bible Notes for Galatians 5:1

Ga 5:1The Fruits of the Flesh and of the Spirit SUMMARY OF GALATIANS 5: To Fall Under the Law Is to Lose Christ. Circumcision Avails Nothing. but Faith Working by Love. Love the Fulfilling of the Law. The Warfare Between the Flesh and the Spirit. The Works of the Flesh. The Fruits of the Spirit. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free. Compare Eph 6:14 2Th 2:15. This verse is connected in meaning with the last chapter, where it is shown that the gospel is freedom, but the Mosaic law is the covenant of bondage. Hence Paul bids them to cling to their freedom in Christ, and And be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Not to be brought again under the yoke by being drawn under the Jewish law. Once they had been under bondage to a heathen yoke (Ga 4:8); to accept the Jewish yoke would be a second bondage.

  • Pauline for verse 1
Paul is telling Christian that, having been born again through baptism which we have put off the old man with its deeds, which is sin the yolk of bondage and now by God 's grace are we save, free from sin, God gives us freedom liberty. Now we must strive to continue to do God 's will God "s way unto the end and do not entangled again in the yolk of bondage meaning do not return to sin. Which proves that we christian can fall from grace if we take our eyes off Jesus, but it is for us to ask God 's forgiveness and continue to live the christian live.
