My spirit soars when I realize how great of a GOD I have and the grace and mercy HE has willingly given to me because of HIS love for me. FATHER, help me to be obedient and faithful to YOUR Word.

    Isaiah 9

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Merry Christmas to all and a prosperous New Year to all who are on this platform.

Hello Agness. Apart from a hardcover Commentary on Ezekiel (or on the Old Testament), available from Christian bookstores, you can look at Sites such as Bible Hub, which give a selection of Commentators on a verse-by-verse commentary - might be heavy going but worth it if you're focussed on an in-depth study of Ezekiel.

But to give you an outline to work on: Ezekiel was from a priestly family (1:3) & his name means "God strengthens". He spent his early years in Jerusalem until the captivity to Babylon, alongwith the other hostages. Over there he settled in his own house by the river Chebar (3:15,24), & prophesied for at least 22 years. His wife died about 10 years after being exiled, from a stroke or a plague (24:16-18).

He ministered to the exiles in Babylon at the same time that the prophet Jeremiah was ministering to the Jews in Palestine. His ministerial thrust was to keep before the exiles, not only the sins they had committed that brought on God's Judgement, but to also assure them of God's future blessing by His keeping of His Covenant with them.

The general breakdown of the chapters can be seen as thus: Chapters 1 to 3 (Ezekiel's Call & Commissioning); Chapters 4 to 24 (Prophecies against Judah & Jerusalem); Chapters 25 to 32 (Prophecies against foreign nations); Chapters 33 to 39 (Prophecies of Israel's restoration); and Chapters 40 to 48 (Prophecies concerning Israel in the coming Millenial Kingdom).

I realize I've given a very brief outline to you, but hopefully it will help you focus on Ezekiel, the man & his ministry & God's Word to them (& for us to learn from). You will need a comprehensive commentary if you want to do an in-depth study. Every blessing in your studies.

Sherry Talley, short summation, Ezekiel 16 is a chapter that God was dealing with Israel and her abominations. It covers from their beginning, their ups and downs and God took pity on them. It covers how God picked them up and blessed and multiplied Israel making them rich and a nation. It covers how deep into pagan worship with idolatry, human sacrifice, and practicing ritual prostitution they had gone. Judgment was given against Jerusalem and ending with remembering the covenant.

Your question about praying for drying blood. Many not from the southern states, mainly the hill country may not have heard of this. Some people are said to have the gift of healing, that is for each individual to believe or not. One prays for healing using different bible verses, a verse from Ezekiel 16 is used for healing humans or animals that has bleeding that can not be stopped, to stop the bleeding. This goes back to the early settling of the states and things brought over from the old country, and probably still being used. It is controversial and some say mystical so if you have a congregation you attend, ask your pastor.

    God bless, Ron

(Elk 16-6) is a very powerful witness to the power of the (Word) of God; we were new born Christians(2yrs maybe): I drove past this old abandoned gas station 2 times a day for at least 5 yrs; We went to a small Pentecostal church in Eagle Point Org.The Pastors name was Colluar;and he was a very fine minister;Well on my way home there was a brand new station; I stopped to see; as I backed up, I seen a little rough looking guy walking towards me, so I stopped and as I got out, he spoke my name (Jerry) & i had never seen him before; the (station) got my attention; &when he said (Jerry) that really got my attention; this is what he said;Jerry I am a messenger from God; & you need to know Ezk:16-6 because when This verse is spoken it will stop bleeding;& with in 2 weeks you will bleed & die if you don't quote Gods word in the presence of your bleeding; we visited awhile and he had to go; almost 2 weeks later I was bleeding very bad; my wife Wanda quoted Ezk:16-6 & the bleeding stopped instantly; oh yea; when I went to work the next day (the) old station was there; we have used this verse (MANY MANY) times& every time the bleedingstopped; I have been dead 4 times & have seen 7 angels so far; just search &see how often Ezk:16-6 is being used today!!!you will be very happy you did: Lov ya

You are so correct, as the Lord has stated in Jeremiah 31:33 that he would make a new covenant with Isreal, the same covenant we have in Christ. The disadvantage they had is they were not regenerated in a new creation man as we are in Christ. The scripture states that they will be given that advantage to become one with us in Christ. Jesus said Jn 10 he had other sheep brought into one fold.

Before Jerusalem was conquered by the Israelites, it was in the possession of the Jebusites. It was called Salem in which Melchizidek resided. The first several verses is actually detailing in a symbolic manner the founding of Jerusalem by an Amorite Hittite mix from the family of Caanan. There was no Law established or covenant saved that which was given by Noah.

These cities and these people were real, and the things they did. These things were not written for some obscure and imagined "spiritualizing" but to teach us from what they really did and what is the word of God about them. What is remarkable is that the LORD is going to restore all the ancient peoples to their former estates and make a new covenant with them. His way are higher than our ways!

Verse 12: Jehovah God really elevated the nation of Israel by blessing them after they were delivered from Egypt.

The first thing I noticed is that Abraham was from Canaan which must mean he was black. God is comparing Israel to a whorish woman because of her idolatry. She took on the idols of the heathen. I'm not sure who Sodom represents here but Samaria represents the N.Kingdom. V.60 says He will have mercy on them and establish an everlasting covenant with them when His fury towards them has ended.

Verses 49-50 Does this sound like any countries today? The catastrophe which the LORD rained down on Sodom and Gomorrha were for a warning to all who would after live ungodly, or who might be at the point of doing any of those wicked things which they did. The sins most remembered about them were but the result of their pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness; then they became haughty..

This a powerful message to the people of Jerusalem. It warns you of mixing with everyone It also apply to us today. God doesn 't stop us from doing wrong. He let 's you do according to your heart, but you will reap what you sow.

I have read this powerful Scripture in many different versions but the Amplified words it in an entirely, different prospective! It reads "..when you were in your NATAL BLOOD, I said unto you "Live "...implying that this could or DID apply to when one was still in their Mother 's womb! I 'd like your thoughts on this.

  • Timothy Wayne George on Ezekiel 16 - 12 years ago
The sin of Sodom, was pride, and full of empty time on her hand.Neither did she give her hand to the poor, and needy yet God will establish a everlasting covenant with Israel, and they will remember the covenant of their youth. Israel will be a faithful wife, and will not commit the abominations of her youth. Beauty is vain, and favor deceitful. The woman that fears the Lord she will be praised. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
  • Amos on Ezekiel 16:3 - 13 years ago
The new Jerusalem (city of peace): new heaven & a new earth ( new spirit or mind and a new soul or heart) Revelation 21:1.
The old Jerusalem : Canaan ( merechant, traffick)(bring into subjection, subdue,etc.)H3667,3665. Old Jerusalem represents religion with all it's rituals, ceremonies, and traditions of the law that bring us into bondage.
My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother. Proverbs 6:20
    Father:(instructor): Amorite (sayer,act proudly,to boast,mt.dweller or pride)
Mother:a religious establishment or to give birth to; law giver.
Hittite (terror, break down by confusion and fear, etc.) H2850,2845,2865)
These are the religious leaders in organized religion, which keep the people in darkness and bondage.
Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they unto him, We be not Born of Fornication; we have one Father, even God...Ye are of your father the devil( 1Peter 5:8,9- Proverbs 28:15), and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer(hater) from the beginning, and abode not in the Truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:30-44.
Sad to say, but many find themselves in bondage, and don't even know it, because they follow after men and religious rituals, ceremonies and trditions. That's why their is so much strife among religious people.
When we are truly born of God; we walk in obedience to His Word through Love.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour; therefore Love is the fulfilling of the law.
    Romans 13:10

    Hope this has been helpful.

    Amos

Our Father wants us to remember Him, go back to Him since He is the one who made us who we are.
