When Moses said to God I come unto the children of Israel and shall say unto them the God of your father's has sent me unto you and they shall say to me what is his name? What shall I say unto them? And just reading that the Lord God Almighty said to Moses "I AM THAT I AM and he said "Thus shalt say unto children of Israel I AM hath sent me unto you." WHEN I READ THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT MOVED!

I love Exodus - it’s my favorite book in the entire Bible - and I’m not even a Jew or Christian!
However, hearing God set his mission unto Moses can do nothing but inspire even the most hardened and skeptical of souls.

15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Sovering Lord , JEHOVAH" the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

    To Insight 777:
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. Mat 5:17. Read Acts 6:13. What you quoted (verse 14) are false accusations. Jesus was talking about the temple of His body that will be resurrected in three days. To the Hebrews this was the "pay-back time" after years of slavery. Sometimes God (not Moses) works in strange ways.

V22, spoil means rob, these "borrowed" treasures are not going to be returned. Where is the forgiveness of ones enemy that Jesus preached? Acts 6, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us." Jesus changes Moses law.

(7-10) In that the LORD did these things, and let the rest of the world continue; indicates that it was a sign of the Great Deliverance and Salvation at the end of days: for Israel was to set as a sign for blessing and spiritual guidance to the world, up to that day; but they knew it not. (19-22) As it was with bringing Israel out of Egypt, so for us in the end time: God will save us by His Power!
  • Lilian Makau on Exodus 3 - 7 years ago
Its such a great revelation to know that we need to ask God what to say just like Moses when faced with situations.
  • CJ on Exodus 3 - 7 years ago

  • BaNathShal Ahayah on Exodus 3 - 7 years ago
The ONLY place in the Bible (A Hebrew Israelite History Book), where the Most High God, the Great I AM reveals HIS NAME: I AM THAT I AM (in ancient Hebrew is (Ahayah Asher Ahayah). What's amazing is you never see it again written throughout the Bible...I wonder why? Shalom.
  • BSP on Exodus 3 - 7 years ago
Moses was humble and this is a quality that God looks for in order to use someone to accomplish his purpose. Any lack in an individual can be made up for by God's power.

Indeed I am one of those who is being blessed by the Daily Bible Reading prraogm. I don't believe that if one seriously and meditatorily open the bible in the right frame of mind, sincerely willing to understand, inviting the Holy Spirit who inspired its writing, jotting down important revealed points, can fail to understand. It is true that if it is opened just like any other text book, hurriedly and when the mind is not ready, without a heartfelt prayer, no understanding. Students set themselves targets to complete text books that matter to their exam. If heaven matters to me, seriously I can set myself a target to complete the ONLY BOOK that can reveal God's will for me in preparation for that.Through this prraogm, I can summarise important events in ALL the books I have covered. At our Church, we take turns to summarise each book covered, and the whole church makes inputs. It is working wonders.

It's amazing how God chose to use Moses even though he hadn't learned much about God,but obviously knew a little about Him. Thinking in himself that he could not do this great work that God was asking him to do. God sure knew what he could do through Him and through his obedience. How awesome is He!
  • Angie on Exodus 3 - 8 years ago
I am always so awed when we ask God how is it He chooses us to do something, as Moses did in 3:11...and God stated, "Certainly I will be with you"....it would have been impossible for Moses without God...as it would be impossible for us to do anything without God... and without Him sending us...
  • Grace on Exodus 3 - 8 years ago
Moses was equipped and prepared by God prior to his calling after being called God lead Moses and Moses followed Gods instructions God made Moses aware that he would meet resistance but God assured him he would be with him until Pharaoh let the people go. We must also seek Gods instruction and follow them as Moses and allow God to take care of us

Names have meanings. Jehovah God 's name also has a meaning. His name tells us that Jehovah will become what he needs to become to accomplish his purpose, and he will always prove true to his words. One Bible reference work stated: "To use a simple illustration: A mother may need to fill many roles each day in caring for her children as a nurse, a cook, a teacher according to the need that arises. It is similar with Jehovah, though on a more elevated level. In order to accomplish his loving purpose for mankind, he can become whatever he pleases, filling whatever role is needed. Knowing Jehovah by name thus involves understanding and appreciating his many roles. "
