I believe the Lord hardened Pharoahs heart bringing out what was in him. In Acts 7:18. Stephen states "Till ANOTHER king arose, which knew not Joseph." I've heard the word another being used here suggests a different type in the Greek. There is 2 words used for "another" in the Greek. One is when you want another of the same and the other is one of a different kind. the second is used here. This Pharoah might have been an Assyrian.
Isaiah 52:4. For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the ASSYRIAN oppressed them without cause.
God Magnified his Great name YHWH in Egypt and all the World feard the God of Israel as he will do again in the latter days.
Ezekiel 38:22-23. And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
Moses and Aaron were forced to leave Pharaoh's presence. Moses stretched out his hands and rod and the locusts came. Senehem was the Egyptian god of protction froem locusts. In this plague, it was shown that Senehem was worthless and powerless to prevent the locust from coming or from totally destroying vegetation in the land. They came in on the east wind God stirred up and devoured every green plant. The number of locusts was so vast and severe that it is said that it is the worst swarm ever. There were so many that the land was darkened by the swarm as they flew in.
Pharaoh was greatly concerned and called Moses and Aaron to appear before him right away. He again admits that he had sinned against the LORD, God of the Israelites, even asking for forgiveness this once and spare him from death, begging Moses to entreat the LORD on his behalf to end this plague. So,Moses went out and entreated the LORD. God sent a west wind the blew away the locust into the Red Sea. Not one locust was left in the land.
But God hardened Pharaoh's heart and so he would not release the Israelites. Then God told Moses to stretch out his hands towards heaven to bring darkness upon the land that was so think it could actually be felt. The darkness lasted three days, keeping people from seeing one another or rising up from their beds. But in Goshen, there was daylight.
The Egyptian's top god was RA, ruler of the sun. This darkness demonstrated that Ra was no match for Israel's God.
Again, Pharaoh calls for Moses to appear before him, telling Moses to go to serve the LORD but leave behind the livestock. Moses insisted that they needed to take the livestock because they did not know yet what God would ask of them in service to Him. So, the LORD Pharaoh' hardened heart further and told Moses not to meet with him ever again. Moses agreed to never speak to Pharaoh again.
In this chapter of Exodus, Moses and Aaron are still talking with Pharaoh, seeking the release of the Israelites from bondage. Pharaoh is not deterred by the plagues, nor humbled (vs.3). He was determined not to surrender his self-assertiveness nor his maintenance of his sovereignty, not even to the true God. Isn't this the essence of sin?
In the opening of the chapter, God is stating the reasons for the hardening of Pharaoh's heart-that I may show these signs of Mine before him and that you may tell in the hearing of your sons and your son's sons the mighty things I have done in Egypt and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD" (NIV) verses 1-2.
This makes me think of God's ways not being our ways. I know that He cannot sin or do evil. Yet so many people are being adversely affected by these plagues that God calls My signs. Here God is exercising His justice. There is not sin by God in this. I need to keep my mind clear in this so as not to accuse God of wrongdoing by causing suffering. Here God is not just allowing suffering, but is causing it. And it says that God hardened Pharaoh's heart. Pharoah chose to not submit to God, but it was as much God's doing as it was Pharaoh's ( Romans 9:14-24 speaks of God choosing to have mercy on whom He will have mercy and hardens whom He wills to harden, like Pharaoh.
In verse 4 God again, warns Pharaoh ahead of time of a coming plague, this time locusts. Even Pharaoh's servants entreated Pharaoh to let the Israelites go because Egypt was being destroyed. So, Pharaoh listened to these advisors and agreed to let SOME go, but not all. He still wanted rule over the Israelites and leaving some behind would ensure that the ones who go will come back. Pharaoh said that the MEN could go. Moses demanded that ALL would leave with him, including young, old, male, female, and all of their livestock.
Pharaoh warns Moses that evil lies ahead if they go.
God will do all He says He will.
He has to take us through some storms,to some mountains, over some hills. Across the valleys.
God has to take us through some rough terrain so we can see how marvellous He truly is.
As many times as we've read these chapters; every time is a new and powerful realization of just how great and mighty were these signs! Try to imagine seeing these plagues in real! They are terrifying! Yet because of the way some choose to respond, and "refuse to humble thyself before Me (God);" God hardens their hearts to work out their own foolishness and perversion, unto their destruction.
not only did he wanted them out. he wanted the people of israel not able to come back to Egypt God knew the stiff neck people would try to return to Egypt, NOW WITH All the cures the people of Egypt suffered they would kill them if they tried to do so.
God gave Pharoah powerful incentive to let his people go. He gave sign after sign to show his great power and that Pharoah should acknowledge and obey him.

Ex. 3:10 says, "Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt KJV. Well according to me here pharaoh calls Moses and Aaron and said to them I have sinned against the LORD your GOD and you. 1 Pharaoh confess knowing clearly that whatever is happening it 's all about his heart. 2 Pharaoh didn 't believe in GOD of Israel and he knew that he broke GOD 's commandment and he needs the plaque to be over for him to continue sinning against GOD. 3 He was not confessing for hard heart but the LORD to stop the plaque even his so called magicians failed to stop the plaques because there is no other GOD who is greater than our GOD prays be to HIM forever AMEN.
this chapter shows Jehovah God is always in control. Pharaoh was raised up by God for the very purpose that was happening in Egypt to the people of Israel so that God could show the Egyptians as well as His own that He is all powerful. As the chapter progressed and I read it, a fear grew inside of me for Pharaoh as he kept defying God�.since God raised Pharaoh up for the very purpose of defiance in refusing to let the people go, I wonder if Pharaoh could have had the choice to change and humble himself before God and really let the people go or was he doomed to make the decisions he made and stick to them�..we know the Lord is always in control�Pharaoh was always asked to let the people go and the reason why�so he must have had a choice to do so up to that point�he would say yes and than back down and refuse as the Lord hardened his heart so that the Lord could glorify Himself�.seems sort of unfair to Pharaoh that he thought he was in control but in reality, he was chosen and raised up by the Lord to do exactly what he was doing as he refused over and over again to let the people of Israel go out from the land of Egypt into the wilderness to worship and do sacrifice to the Lord. But the Egyptians both seeing and living the plagues and knowing they were sent from the God of Israel would come to believe in Jehovah and his power whether or not they converted�..and I guess that was Gods ultimate plan �to show His power and realness to those people as well as His own, Israel.
