Wesley's Notes for Exodus 1:8

1:8 There arose a new king (after several successions in Joseph's time) which knew not Joseph - All that knew him loved him, and were kind to his relations for his sake; but when he was dead he was soon forgotten, and the remembrance of the good offices he had done was either not retained or not regarded. If we work for men only, our works at farthest will die with us; if for God, they will follow us, #Rev 14:13|.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwell in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt." Isaiah 10:23-24 The whole world will be like it was for Israel in Egypt, when Jesus comes.

Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
