Wesley's Notes for Ephesians 2:6

2:6 And hath raised us up together - Both Jews and gentiles already in spirit; and ere long our bodies too will be raised. And made us all sit together in heavenly places - This is spoken by way of anticipation. Believers are not yet possessed of their seats in heaven; but each of them has a place prepared for him.

Eph 2:6 And hath raised [us] up together. Buried into the death of Christ, we are risen with Christ (Col 2:12). We are risen as new creatures to walk with the Risen Christ, with our minds on heavenly things (Col 3:1). And made [us] to sit in heavenly [places]. In our present state, to have our minds above (Col 3:2).

Discussion for Ephesians 2:6

  • Glory to God for verse 6
Does anyone have ANY tiny glimmer of an idea of what this is actually saying to the saved? It's astonishing light. Not only are we going to Heaven? what does it say. There is no greater power than that which allowed and CAUSED this to happen. God Himself!! This is no joke or verse to be undermining in darkness. Pure light of life. FACT. None more serious?! He did this! GOD. If you are born again? Rejoice forevermore. 1.LOOK where you ARE seated! 2.Please note WHOM "hath" put you there.--not you and it tells. 4.HATH!--not debatable, over and done, no maybes. 6.Raised together? - Learn what that means for maximum Light. 7.Who is "us"? 8.Do not people see total nth degree past tense all over this verse? Happened. 100 unrebukable fact unless you do not believe? LOOK WHAT GOD HATH done for His saved Sons and Daughters and believe it. THANK HIM. You did none of this because it surely tells whom did. You asked mercy at best? THANK whom "HATH" made this fact. Sword of Truth. Glory to God forevermore. Amen

Jesus said, "No one has ascended to heaven but HE who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven." Where is king David now?

There are many present tense salvation statements in new testament writings that traditional interpretation has erroneously placed into the future i.e.(after we die). Col. 1:13 says "He hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son". Obviously, those who are in Christ are now seated in heavenly places. To be seated is to be in a position of authority i.e. a judge is seated in a court room. The word heaven comes from "heaved up" indicating the spirit world. In Eph. 6:12 the same Gr. word is translated into "High places" where powers of spiritual wickedness are. The Bible indicates levels of spiritual authority. The ultimate eternal authority, of course is God Himself. God created man a little lower than the angels (Psalms 8:5). So we have God-angels-man-animals. Satan is of the angel level, which is why Michael could not accuse the devil (Jude 9). However, being "In the Lord" believers are now seated in authority over the spiritual forces of evil. Beloved, now are we the sons of God (1 Jn. 3:2). Jesus gave all power over the the enemy to his followers (Lu. 10:19). Jesus entrusted His power to believers, for believers to apply in His name, and for His glory. That is why we are to dress ourselves with His salvation, truth, faith and righteousness (Eph. 6:14-17). Being in Christ, we are now in a position over the devils, to command them to to obey His authority as He told us to do. (Mk. 16:15-18 & Jn. 14:12-14). Christian love to those who disagree.
