Wesley's Notes for Ephesians 1:11

1:11 Through whom we - Jews. Also have obtained an inheritance - The glorious inheritance of the heavenly Canaan, to which, when believers, we were predestinated according to the purpose of him that worketh all things after the counsel of his own will - The unalterable decree, He that believeth shall be delivered; which will is not an arbitrary will, but flowing from the rectitude of his nature, else, what security would there be that it would be his will to keep his word even with the elect?

Discussion for Ephesians 1

In response to Joyce Cardoza post. I would love to know how you explain this scripture. Please notice the first word "ALL". 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" I ask this in the love of Jesus Christ as to reading and teaching the truth.

I've seen several comments on here about Ephesians being people's favorite book. By the way they are worded I can see they're not sure why they love it so. Maybe this will help: "The Song of Solomon of the New Testament" - "This love God had for Israel, as shown in the Song of Solomon, is wonderfully typical of the love that Jesus Christ has for His church. - cont.

Eph. 1:13 - the word of 'truth' is Acts 2:38 (Matt.28:19); the gospel of your salvation, Acts 2:37 - "men and brethren, what must we do"? ye were sealed with that holy spirit of promise, Acts 10:45-46.
  • Andrew Azariah
A key verse in this chapter is v13 " In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,"
The believer is sealed with the promised Holy Spirit when he/she believed in Christ Jesus. This is the heritage of every Christian believer. No Christian believer needs to doubt if he/she has the Holy Spirit. Glory

To Joyce Cardoza - Since you must know which scriptures aren't for all of us - I wish you had listed 3-4 on here so I could look them up ............
  • Joyce Cardoza
God said you must rightly devide the word, and we are also in the dispensation of Grace, the entire Bible is written for us, but not every verse is addressed to us, or written about us, if you read the red letters of Jesus Christ, then read what He taught after he paid our sin debt, and you really knew how to read and teach the truth, you would not teach the way you do, Ephesians 2:8 it was hidden
