  • Dwayne on Ecclesiastes 12
Strong men bones shall bow. Grinders teeth cease and are few. Windows eyes be darkened. Sound of grinding ears is low. Almond tree grey hair shall flourish. Grasshopper children shall be a burden. Silver cord spirit be loosed. Golden bowl saints be brokened. Remember thy creator in your youth and keep his commandments. Amen.

Strong men are bones. Grinders are teeth. Windows are eyes. Ears are low. Almond tree is grey hair. Grasshopper is children. Silver cord is the spirit. Golden bowl is the saint. These are supposed to be in parenthesis in my text but the website does not allow them.
  • Vanessa on Ecclesiastes 12
I believe we are to only seek out this inspired book of God. Which is enough to last anyone a life time seeking Him . I believe, God reveals His word unto us when He know we are ready to receive. Have you ever read a Scripture more than once and you get a revelation of Wow!? verified by precepts OP Because of sin and faulty of men. I believe God wants us to focus on one book to avoid heresy.
  • Gloria on Ecclesiastes 12
The grinders are few and the windows are darkened means you lose teeth and your eyesight grows dim. The words of the wise are as goads, pointing and poking you in the right direction as an animal poked with a stick or a mother with a ruler. If you can't read all the books of the bible, remember that the whole duty of man is to keep his commandments.
  • EVETTE CLARK on Ecclesiastes 12
I came in my office feeling very low about my looks and age. I asked God to give me a word. I received my word. God is so real Thank You Lord
  • EVETTE CLARK on Ecclesiastes 12
What does it mean by vanity?
  • Church - in Reply on Ecclesiastes 12
  • Adam - in Reply on Ecclesiastes 12
Vanity: the quality of being worthless or futile excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements. I think it means that Solomon felt our life on earth seemed insignificant compared to what's really important. We come from dust and return to dust when we die, such a short existence. James 4:14 says our life is a vapor.
  • Ann - in Reply on Ecclesiastes 12
Evette Clark, it also means emptiness, untruth. Fruitless desire, or endeavor.
  • CASSANDRA VAUGHN on Ecclesiastes 12
  • Establish Faith in our Creator from an early age. When we see, with wonder and amazement, the world that He has created for us.The sands of time inevitably roll on and we are ground and battered, bruised until 1 day, we return to sand. Praise God and trust that He will ease those days and grant us Peace in His heaven when that day ultimately arrives. Until then? Live Life to it's fullness with God

  • Verse 10~Solomon wanted the people to benefit so he took time to find careful words that were accurate and true. We should also weigh our words and consider what we will say before we say it.
  • Verse 2~ Solomon likens the days of youth to the Palestinian summer where everything shines bright. Youth is truly a precious time where one can accomplish many things. We want to use youth wisely.
  • Bruce Wayne on Ecclesiastes 12
Verse 13: Fear God, keep his commandments (Exodus 20) for they will never be altered (Psalms 89:34), have faith in Jesus Christ of Nazareth (John 3:18)

Keep the commandments of God and Faith of Jesus (Revelation 14:13), for the time is at hand (Revelation 1:3).
  • A disciple on Ecclesiastes 12
"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them...Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." The Summoner has filled this book with questions and searching out by wisdom the purpose of life; for the end of all this vanity is death.

  • Mike on Ecclesiastes 12
This is the whole duty of man fear God and keep his commandments

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

    -Ecclesiastes 12:13
  • We should have a deep respect or fear of Jehovah God and keep his commandments. This is the whole obligation of humans.
  • A disciple on Ecclesiastes 12
In this wonderful Book called, The Preacher, is laid out very many aspects of this present existence, and how they are used knowingly or unknowingly to distract man who is made in the image of God from seeking out the eternal meaning of his having been created thus and in many cases, worse, uses them falsely to deny the very God and Saviour, who he is supposed to replicate in character, in conduct, in faith, hope and love in holiness and the Spirit of Truth. The powerful conclusion "of the whole matter," is what we must hear and receive and learn from Jesus to do, with all our hearts, and without hypocrisy. For if after all our lifetime is spent, and we have only our own basket of potatoes and carrots, but no honest accounting of our souls in light of Christ being sent to redeem us then will we have worked for nothing, and all our love, and hate, and envy, and toil, will be turned to smoke and ashes, and remembered no more we ourselves having never stood in the truth, will have no place, and never be fit for the presence of God in eternity. But the Word is written to us as to children, so that we may do them and be blessed. This is the will of God for all men that we might be saved, all thanks and glory and praise to our wonderful Father God, and the Son of God our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
