This chapter shows that no matter what happens, God's will, will always come to pass. Jacob, even before he was born was destined to rule over Esau, from conception. However way we (mere human being) like to look at it and critisize how it happened, fact is it happened and God still blessed Jacob, abundantly.
Back then, a blessing was a blessing and a curse was a curse; Rebekah, had Isaac cursed Jacob, would have been cursed as she said; these were the Old Testament days, before the Mosaic Law, before Jesus fulfilled the law.
Again, who are we to say NO if God says yes, and who are we to say YES if God says no. God let it happen and Israel came from there, the chosen people of God.
