  • C smith on Matthew 16:16
a lot has been lost in translations of the bible and i believe Matthew 16:16 is an example of one of the cases for misinterpretations. according to the wyncliffe bible, which was the first to be translated into english by john wyncliffe in 1382 and i believe is most likely one of the closest to the real interpretations of the original writings, he does not put the word "living " before god, but AFTER god...which changes the whole meaning....it would mean that simon peter believed jesus was the christ and the son of god, living, or the son of god who came to earth to live and NOT the son of the living god. also, in Matthew 16:17 jesus says that his father is in the heavens....and he does not say his father is living on earth. please refer to Matthew 16 in the wyncliff bible please omit the parenthesis that have been added to try to aide in the interpretations, but only serves to contaminate the content with another 's interpretations, and taking it yet further from the original content.
