Here in ch.19;4, wisdom reveals how and what is used by God to get the guy back in ch18;1, to go on his quest for seeking and pursuing wisdom, in the first place.Separating oneself goes before the pursuit! So in vs.4, we can see that "separation", froms God's viewpoint to usward is automatically accomplished in your poverty, for being poor and sensing a severe weakness will both work "separation" and one's desire for wisdom from God! Vs.4 -"Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbor." Also back in ch.14;20 " The poor is hated even of his own neighbor; but the rich hath many friends."
When i was making $6,000 a week, i found it hard to drive my pickup, for all the friendly cell calls! My oldest son then would call often and i was so full of friends, with invites to come here and go there. But now having gone 30 months with no work and having lost business, home, boats, tools, and all credit- no one calls! It's so quite! I don't even need a phone! I see being poor automatically brings "separation", its akin to financial leporsy. And in Vs.7, " All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? And now my heart, being not bitter but hungry for God's wisdom - hence the pursuit.
Ch.19;1 "Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool." Walking in integrity is following Jesus. Jesus said, " in Rev 3;17 to the Laodiceans, "because thou sayest, i am rich, and increased with goods - that they were really poor, blind, and naked." But in Rev.2;9 He said," i know your tribulation and poverty, (but thou art rich)" I would rather have Jesus say to me, "you are rich" rather than, "you are poor blind and naked."
Proverbs 13;7 states, " There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches."
God's Wisdom is indeed "GREAT RICHES".
