Interesting point to me: In vs 16 and 18, the people touching a dead body are unclean and had to be purified. They were ceremonially unclean for 7 days and could not go into the Tabernacle. When Jesus died on the cross, all the people who handled His body would have been unclean for seven days according to this passage. The irony of it is that Jesus' death and resurrection ushered in the New Testament age. Therefore the Temple and OT practices were no longer necessary. So would those people handling Jesus' body still have to go for cleansing? I think not. Besides, the vail in the Temple was torn in two. What believer in Jesus would want to go in there anyway?
