That can 't be literal. The Father 's name is in the forehead of everyone in heaven Revelation 14 1 22 4 . Why the forehead? It 's the frontal lobe, the character decision making part of the brain. What went in the foreheads of God 's people in Deuteronomy 6 1 8? God 's Word Commandments. Deuteronomy 6 8 KJV 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. Leave it to the Pharisees to take this literally and start hanging scrolls from their hands. God wanted His Word Commandments to be in their minds and in their actions. The mark of the beast is something that goes in our minds and or actions in place of God 's law. Setting aside getting rid of the law is very different from simply breaking it.
