(Verse 8) "The Lord protects his people and gives victory to his Anointed King."

The Anointed King is God Himself,Jesus Christ. God often speaks of Himself as if He is another person, but He is not. He does this to confound those who think they are wise, and to uplift those whose hearts are pure. In the New Testament we see the same thing when He speaks of Himself as the Son of man, as in "When the Son of Man comes."

Verse 9 says to the Anointed king, "Save your people! Bless Israel, your special possession! Lead them like a Shepard, and carry them forever in your arms." This speaks of God as Christ saving us as the Good Shepard of John 10.

Let's say it like this. David knew there was only one God. So he had to know that the Lord and the Anointed King are one and the same. In other words, David would never have been guilty of saying there are two Gods, or that God is two separate beings. We must get out of the habit of thinking this way:"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! This is recorded in Deuteronomy 6:4, and it is still true.

    God blesses those who listen!
