"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing but the honour of Kings is to search out a matter" ( Proverbs 25:2). Jesus repeats the commentary about not knowing the day or the hour approximately 8 times Between the Gospels and the beginning of Acts. I get the feeling there is more than meets the eye. The term "no one knows the hour or the day" is an idiom and probably commonly used in first century Judea regarding the timing of Rosh Hashanah. Each month was 29.5 days long and it was up to the rabbis of the Sanhedrin to ascertain whether the new moon had appeared or not to see if the next day was going to be Rosh Hashanah. Thus one possible interpretation would be that Jesus is giving us a hint that there will be something during the end times that occurs on Rosh Hashanah. The Jewish holidays already have been shown to be prophetic in terms of Jesus Christ. The last three holidays of the year are thought to be prophetic of future events when Christ returns. Perhaps there is more than meets the eye here. Maranatha!
