The Son of God became a sin-offering that through incorporation into Christ we become right with God the Father.

Jesus did not become sin or a sinner.
The brother of Jesus says: "He who knows to do good and doesn't do it, sins." That's not Jesus on the cross who came to do the will of the Father.

The sin-offering doesn't become sin or a sinner.
"The life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves, on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life." Lev 17:11

The blood of the cross ( Col 1:20) that Christ shed cleanses us of our sins ( 1 John 1:9) bearing away our sins ( 1 Pet 2:24) and therefore the sin-separation between us and God is removed ( Isa 59:2) and we become "at-one" with God in union with Christ through the indwelling of the Holy Ghost.

The wrath of an angry God was not poured out on Christ on the cross. God was in Christ reconciling (at-one-ment) the world to Himself ( 2 Cor 5:19).
