    Brother Spencer,

You has said something a few days ago (I can't find it) but it had to do with false teaching and how it might impact those who might be new believers.

Anyways, in my study today in Romans, a couple of verses pinged my memory and got me thinking about this.

Romans 16:17 says, Now I appeal to you, brethren, and listen to this, the command:

Mark them which cause divisions and offences.

The word mark is the work SKOPOS. We get our word scope from this word. And it is in present participle form in the Greek, which means continue to observe.

Be continually looking at those who cause divisions and offenses (SCANDALONS) contrary to the doctrine which you have learned.

Paul said in Galatians Chapter 1 that if anybody preaches any other gospel than that which he has preached, let them be accursed.

That's pretty bold and authoritative. If they preach contrary to the doctrine which Paul has taught and has given them, mark them. That's command number one. Command number two is avoid them. The word avoid means to go out of your way to avoid them.

Romans 16:18 gives us the characteristics of these people:

For they are such as serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; which is a term that is used for their own satisfaction.

    And by good words.

Interesting. This is the word useful. With useful words and fair speeches (and this is the word eulogy) they deceive the hearts of the simple.

The word simple in the Greek text means nave. With useful words and fair speeches, they deceive the people who are nave.

These are those who may be the most vulnerable to any teaching that might be contrary to scripture.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks Brother Jesse!

Yes, I'm concerned that they might turn them away from the site, or stand in the way of truth and impact their growth.

    Especially kids and young adults.

But of someone of age you might see clarity of scripture performed right before your eyes.

However when you look at those verses along with others like

1 Corinthians 11:19 "For there must be also heresies among you, THAT THEY WHICH ARE APPROVED MAY BE MADE MANIFEST AMONG YOU.

    And.

1 John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, THAT THEY MIGHT BE MADE MANIFEST THAT THEY WERE NOT ALL OF US."

If i interpret those right, you must come to the conclusion that God is in control and there won't be no excuses.

That wide gate seems to have a lot of appeal to some.

These decievers and those that follow them is all a part of God's sifting program.

    Am I interpreting this right?

    I'm really not sure.

Thank you and others for all your

    help. God bless.

    Brother S Spencer:

Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christ (Christ is the word, so there shall arise false words), and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; in so much that, IF IT WERE POSSIBLE (but is not possible), they should deceive the very elect.

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, WHO WERE ORDAINED TO THIS CONDEMNATION .....

God says he himself has caused this and brought it to pass.

Luke 22:31 ....Satan has desired to have you, THAT HE MAY SIFT YOU as wheat ....

Luke 22:32 But I WILL PRAY FOR YOU: that your faith (the faith of Christ) fail not .... IT'S CHRIST'S WORKS ....

Isaiah 28:21 ....that he may do HIS WORK, HIS STRANGE WORK; and bring TO PASS his act, HIS STRANGE ACT.

Isaiah 45:9 Woe unto him that striveth with his maker! Let the potsherds strive with the potsherds of the earth, Shall the clay say to him that fashioned it, What makest thou? OR THY WORK, He hath no hands?

Isaiah 48:10 Behold I have refined the, but not with silver, I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

Matthew 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself; but endureth for awhile, and when tribulations and persecutions ariseth because of the WORD, by and by he is offended.

Christ had many disciples, but when the words became to hard for them they went the way of the world.

Matthew 13:23 ..... and false prophets, shall show great signs and wonders .....

Revelation .... and with him the false prophet ....were cast alive into the a lake of fire burning with BRIMSTONE

Isaiah 30:33 ....the breath of the Lord, like a stream of BRIMSTONE, doeth kindle it.

Isaiah 33:14 ...Who among us SHALL DWELL with the devouring fire ( Hebrews 12:29)? who amongst us SHALL DWELL with everlasting burning?

Isaiah 9:5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise and garments rolled in blood, but this (battle) shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

Isaiah 9:18 ...and the people shall be the fuel of the fire .....

    God Bless YOU!

Agreed S. Spencer, If this truly is Earl, I wish you would just come clean and say so. Earl has posted under several guises before. Originally as Earl Bowman, then as His initials, then as Old Man Wilson, and (thing) Preacher, as S. Spencer has mentioned. So, if this is Earl and not truly Ruby, please inform us of this. If it truly is a woman named Ruby, then we can go from there.

But honesty is better and those who post under "false pretense" should be avoided since they cannot be truthful with us on here who are serious about integrity and the spiritual health of those on this site.

    Hi Earl.

I'm sorry but I have no interest in reading that,

We have said our peace, between you and I some time ago.

We have nothing in common in our theology and you know this.

We will have to just agree to disagree.

    Thanks.

    Brother Spencer,

I do believe your interpretation is accurate. There is a whole smorgasbord of teachings out there, and God allows people to choose what they want to chase after.

Paul did say there must be heresies. The word must is the word necessary and the Greek word means binding. It must happen!

The word heresy comes from the root word that means choice. That's what a heresy is. When I choose to believe that the bible is teaching something that's not in the bible, that's a heresy. I'm choosing to believe it.

Most of the church today is made up of heresies and that's what divides one church from another church. We can go over the same scriptures, and one side says "We believe that it says this," and another side will say "Well, we believe it means this!"

It's interesting that Paul didn't say "There shouldn't be any heresies." Did you know that God ordains division? And there are two divisions in life that are ordained of God.

Preaching is for the unsaved. It causes a division. Teaching is for the saved. And it also causes division.

But Paul says that there must be heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. And the word approved means to approve something after testing. It's not I approve of you because I agree, but I put you to the test.

Guess what the test is? The word of God!

    Amen Brother Jesse.

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 2 Peter 2:1-2

That's something important to remember, especially for me. It tells me I shouldn't get so worked up.

    Thanks and God bless.
