    What is the trinity?

    Thank you, Adam,

We truly need to defend correct doctrine concerning Who and What God is as revealed in Scriptures. He is a Godhead, as you say. The Father, the Son, and Spirit are distinct Persons, yet are unified in one Being. We may not be able to fully comprehend this mystery, but we can clearly see in Scripture that this is true. You have listed multiple Scripture references as has been done repeatedly in past conversations. We must continue to do so, even if those who adhere to the "Oneness" doctrine and reject the truth of the Triune nature of the Godhead are not able to accept this truth.

The baptism of Jesus and His Transfiguration are two examples of the interactions between the Persons of the Godhead that was experienced by those with Jesus. Jesus' Last Supper Discourse in John's Gospel is another example with Jesus speaking of the Father as a separate Person than Himself yet there is a shared Oneness between them. He also promises to send the Holy Spirit, (again, a separate Person) who will come from both Himself and the Father (two separate Persons send the third Person).

Then in Matthew 28:18 Jesus says to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. That is very plain speaking to me.

I pray that God will give understanding and faith to those who deny the triunity of the Godhead and that we will come to have one mind on this. Again, thank you for defending this truth.

When ya think of the Godhead think about Abraham Issac and Jacob...Thats y he told Moses that his name was Abraham Issac and Jacob...Abraham offered up his only son just as God Almighty offered up his only son Jesus...That ram caught in the thicket by his horns is symbolic of Christ Jesus and his Crown of Thorns.

.....Thats what Abraham means in Hebrew exaulted Father he was a type of God Almighty that wanted CHILDREN...That was the great Promise that Christ wd be multiplied as the Stars of heaven...Thus an ISRAEL of GOD....Spirits as that which is born of the Spirit is spirit which is the H.G. Emanuel God with us...

.....Just as natural ISRAEL came out of the ABRAHAMIC TRINITY....The ISRAEL OF GOD WILL come outta of the heavenly trinity Father Son and GRANSON....Just as the 12 tribes came out of Jacob the 12 manner of fruit will come out of the heavenly Jacob...Read Isaiah 49..Without this Father Son and GRANSON SCENARIO there can be no multiplication of CHRIST seed...And thats when God swore by his very self that Christ wd be multiplied as the Stars of Heaven...An ISRAEL OF GOD VIA THE SEED OF CHRIST....There wd have neva been a nation of ISRAEL WITHOUT this Father son and GRANSON...scenario

....But now we look for an ISRAEL OF GOD...THE MULTIPLICATION OF CHRIST SEED IN US SINNERS....Ya gotta realize that Christ sows a much greater seed then ABRAHAM....Thus an Israel of God the H.G. born in us....And the field is the world...Thus the woman with Child is US....NOSOTROS TODA EL MUNDO....

Jesus Christ was God from all eternity past, is so in the present, and ever will be. He did not need to be 'born again' for He was and is God. For Jesus to have to be 'born again' would imply that he had a corrupt sin nature - and that, He did not. He bore our sin but He had no sin in Himself. He ever had the Spirit without measure.

We are born again by the incorruptible Word of God, 1 Peter 1:29. When the uncorrupted Word of God is preached, and heard, God the Holy Spirit brings conviction to the hearer(s), reveals Christ to the hearer(s), makes the hearer(s) see their need for a Savior, and drags them to Jesus to be saved.

God the Father gave His only beloved Son to be our Savior.

Jesus had promised that when He would ascend back to heaven, He would not leave His people orphans, but send the Holy Spirit. We do not have Jesus physically with us yet; we have the indwelling of the Spirit.

Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven.

Is this not clear, then, that there are Three persons in one Godhead?

Study to show yourself approved unto God, workmen that needeth not be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING the Word of truth.

    Trinity:

ephesians 4:4 one body, and one spirit ......

ephesians 4:6 one god, and father of all....

the kingdom of god is not a trinity but a expanding family.

jesus said that we may be one as he and the father are one.

there are many who have already become one with god during the last 2000 years, therefore there is not three.

christ was the first man born of spirit.

the holy ghost is that one spirit, the holy spirit is that one spirit, god is that one spirit.

man's seed is the sperm that comes out of his loins.

man's seed creates a flesh and blood seed, a man of flesh.

god's seed is spirit, the holy ghost, the seed of god, came upon mary and christ, the seed, of the holy ghost, was born in a body of flesh.

christ's body was crucified on the cross, and the father (one spirit) raised christ back in a resurrected body.

christ, gives us, this new birth, as a gift, the new inheritance, being born of thee seed of the holy ghost.

a child of god, in god's expanding family.

christ the firstborn, of the seed of the holy ghost, among many brethren, born of the seed of the holy ghost.

1 timothy 6:16 ....who (the seed) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light .....

    god bless you!

The Bible literally refers to God as Godhead, so the few who are uncomfortable with that term can simply use the word Godhead instead. There's a mountain of scriptures showing the dynamic and divinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. We're here to defend Jesus Christ and anyone trying to discredit or smear His divinity. We should all pray for wisdom, understanding and truth as we read the scriptures so that we are not mislead by the enemy and buy into things that merely fulfill our itching ears.

    John 1:1

    1 John 5:7-8

    Genesis 1:26

    Genesis 11:6-7

    John 10:30

    John 8:19

    Philippians 2:5-8

    2 Corinthians 5:19

    John 1:3

    Matthew 28:19

    1 Peter 1:2

    2 Corinthians 13:14

    Deuteronomy 6:4

    John 14:10

    John 20:28

    1 John 2:22-24

    Isaiah 7:14

    Matthew 1:23-25

    Hebrews 1:8

    Isaiah 44:6

    Colossians 2:9

    Acts 17:29

    Romans 1:20

Brother adam: do not be offended.

i am not denying the divinity of christ.

the problem is you, and others, believe one scripture but then don't believe another scripture.

you believe: john 10:30 the father and i are one. divinity

you don't believe: john 17:21 that you and christ become one. divinity

you quote these scriptures, but you don't believe them

you don't believe: philippians 2:6 let this mind be in you, christ in the form of god thought it not robbery to be equal to god. divinity

you don't believe:: genesis 1:26 you were made in the image of god. divinity

you don't believe: 2 corinthians 5:19 to wit, that god was in christ (a body, a man)(and yes this make christ divine, reconciling the world to himself .......all will be divinity

you don't believe: matthew 28:19 ...baptising them in the father, son, and holy ghost.... this baptism make you: one with them, now there is no longer three, a trinity.

you don't believe: 1 corinthians 15:28 .....and god will be all in all. everyone divinity; not three.

your right we as brothers are to come together and rightly divide the word of god: truth vs falsehoods.

to repent has more to do with teachings than sins of the flesh.

as we come to truth, we repent, of our beliefs hundreds of times, of the falsehoods that have invaded the true gospel.

    it's war: flesh vs divinity.

    god bless you!

    Dear ELB,

You wrote: "the problem is you, and others, believe one scripture but then don't believe another scripture."

That is a false accusation and false assumption.

Earl, I think this may be you, so I will call you Earl. If you are respectful I am willing to pin down what you interpret differently than me and why. But you starting off with a false accusation "the problem is you..." is a disrespectful way to dialog with someone if that is your intent.

I believe all scripture in the Bible is God's Word. I believe exactly what it says and means. I don't believe is your own creative interpretation of it. Someone could accuse you of the same thing you accused me of as John 1:1 flat out says that Jesus is God and if I recall correctly I don't think you believe that.

Some verses are so clear and literal that they are not subject to interpretation. "Word was God" v1. Who is the Word? Jesus v.17. So, if the Word is God, and Jesus is the Word, then it's says Jesus is God. This is so clear that I see no way to weasel out of what it says. I have heard creative attempts before, but there isn't an intellectually honest way to make this mean something else. Then you have a mountain of other verses saying the same thing. Given the mountain of evidence of what it says, I believe God's Word and accept it as truth.

For specifics, you wrote: "you don't believe: john 17:21"

Again, this is an untrue statement. I do believe 17:21 and in fact Jesus refers to Himself and God the Father as "us" plural. "...that they may be one of us." Do you believe that?

You wrote: "you quote these scriptures, but you don't believe them".

Yet another falsehood. Please don't assume to know others' beliefs, Earl.

You wrote: "you don't believe: 1 corinthians 15:28 .....and god will be all in all. everyone divinity; not three."

You appear to be falsely assuming God in us is the same as God and Jesus's relationship while temporarily a man.

Earl, have you prayed about this?

    Brother adam:

i do believe the father and christ are one.

i do believe that me and you and all on this site are one with christ.

i believe "one" is spirit (life and truth) which is god.

john 10:30 and i give them eternal life

john 14:6 i am truth, i am life

philippians 2:13 for it is god (his life, i am life) that worketh in you (me and all others) both to will and to do his good pleasure.

since god says he is the life in everyone, then everyone is one.

the only life that has immortality is god, whether it be the father, the son, the holy ghost, the holy spirit, the comforter, they all have the same life.

through the resurrection man is given this immortal life, but this inheritance of immortal life (which is god) makes man one with the father, the son, the holy ghost, the holy spirit, the comforter; all have the same immortal life.

this destroys man's doctrine of the trinity, because there is not three, there is multitudes.

this is the good news of the gospel

colossians 1:27 this mystery .....christ in you ......immortal life in you

1 timothy 6:16 who (god's life) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light, that no man (flesh) can approach ....

except the man jesus christ, who has given us his life.

    god bless you!

Earl, the Bible affirms the Godhead or trinity, not "destroys" it as you claim. None of the scriptures you cited backup your claims. We have reached the end of this dialog. You might consider praying to God and ask for His confirmation for whether the info you're spreading around is true or not. Also, your disrespectful use of lower case G for God and lower case J for Jesus doesn't help support your case. God bless.

While trinity is a word not found in the Bible, it is easy to understand the concept of why this word is used in Christendom.

"Trinity', in the dictionary, means "(lowercase) a group of three; triad. (lowercase) the state of being threefold or triple.

The Godhead ( Acts 17:29, Rom. 1:20, Col. 2:9) consists of 3 persons, thus, a 'trinity", consisting of God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. However, they are "One' in the sense of mind, purpose, essence, character.

    Blessings!

Father God Jesus the Son. And The Holy Spirit all are One equals the Trinity
  • Giannis - In Reply - 1 year ago
Dear br/sis, Trinity is one God in three persons. Not three Gods, not a God with 3 heads, but one God in three persons. Indentical to one another in everything, but still 3 persons, but still one God. There is nothing like this in our physical world, so it is hard to imagine it.
