It's a common misconception even today that God punishes.

The laws of Creation are such that the action creates its own consequences. Sometimes the actor, or witnesses to the action and the consequence can see that the consequence is consistent with the action, but are unable to perceive the consequence between the two so they attribute the consequence to God.

Different people have awareness at different levels and their actions are inspired from deeper consciousness thus provoking actions of a wider depth. These are those to whom much has been given - either through their own efforts in "considering the lily" or through their inheritance of deeper levels of awareness at birth

It would be a misconception to assume God doesn't hold people accountable to His moral law. We will all face judgment. Good is rewarded and evil is fairly punished and scripture supports that. There are some great responses already with lots of scripture supporting it.

God isn't a bogeyman out to get people, He wants people to choose to love and follow Him, but if people stubbornly reject Him and willingly choose evil then they will be accountable to God's fair punishment. He won't force people to spent eternity in His presence in heaven if they have rejected God.

Many evil people in this world appear to get by with their evil and have no justice, whether its serial killers that were never found, or congress people in Washington D.C. who use their position to receive bribes, steal and harm others. Did Hitler adequately get any natural justice for his evil in this world? I believe not. People may get by with it temporarily in this lifetime but no one escapes judgment from God after this life. There are some natural consequences of sin but that's not the real punishment.

Accountability to God's moral law is good. Some assume that man's own made up morals supersede God's moral law and that's another misconception.

Those who think evil should be ignored or rewarded probably haven't been victims of heinous crimes before. For example of an innocent person was violently attacked, violated and left for dead, the person who committed that evil will be accountable for God. Victims usually want accountability, not necessarily for revenge, but out of fairness and so that no further people are harmed. God bless...

I don't believe the NT supports the existence of any kind of personal God, except where under Roman or Zionist influence the original prophecy of Christ in the parables has been redacted to conform to the tribal needs of the latter and the imperialistic needs of the former. Creation is an organism subject to scientific laws in which humanity is a minute and insignificant component. The happiness of any individual is the result of conforming to these laws and nothing else. Morality is an invention of the devil
  • Adam - In Reply - 2 years ago
    The Bible refutes that theory.

John Lawrence With all due respect God is a very personal God, even the very hairs on out head are numbered,

also morality is an organizational part of a God designed standard of living so I don't understand the statement also

satan is the author of all confusion including not being moral. To have no morals is to state the old I'm ok and your

ok no matter what and that IS NOT O.K. Spiritually because then you neither need God and then you can say I don't

need Jesus Christ or Gods Word then all is Lost!

Almost no-one understands the law of nature relating to action and consequence, even though it is blindingly obvious. Your quotes are all redactive material uttered by priests ( never Christ's favourite people) designed to instil fear into followers, retain their unquestioning loyalty, and allow them to believe that they can avoid the consequences of their sinful lives by sacrifice (to said priests) instead of by confronting their own inadequacy and changing their ways which is what Christ implores everyone to do.

I don't normally respond to anonymous material: if "T Levis" is your name we can debate, otherwise (which I suspect) I won't make any further response to you

John Lawrence, I appreciate your comments. For years, mostly unconsciously, I believed in God's "punishment."

I saw only God's "punishment" in the bearing of my Cross. I also "threw stones" at people, thinking I was helping them. I was a babe in Christ. The belief in personal punishment kept me conveniently in my own imagined autonomy and power, I was actually terrified to stand on my own before God and confess Christ. It was rather wicked, all this mea culpa. Imagine that, terrified of love. Terrified of forgiveness. Over time I was led to deeply question the Church's teachings

and the whole sacramental "system," Christ taught me to think, and receive, for myself. And then start to give away

what can never be depleted. But the need to "self-punish" through the image of a punishing God runs deep, until it doesn't.

    John 8 45-47

Alright Mr Levis: Christ here is addressing people who think like you, believing in an angry and violent "God"

Why would he tell them to understand the truth to find freedom. Do you not feel that understanding the connection between your own actions and events that occur to you subsequently is the first step in setting yourself free?

John Lawrence Isn't it amazing how some think of God as being a tyrant ready to pounce at any time and yet

the guy who said those who have seen Him in action He said you have seen me Hath seen how the Father works

and wants for our lives. We only run into problems when we walk away from God no longer under His canopy of

love grace mercy peace and power. Its only the thief who steals kills and destroys not my quote the Masters quote.
