    Larry,

If a man keeps sinning after being saved, that man needs to take inventory and ask himself if he's truly saved. A person who is saved has the Spirit of Christ living inside them and they are no longer living under the sin principle. However, a saved person can and will commit single acts of sin, but that person can no longer sin habitually because the Spirit that now lives in them prevents that from happening.

We are told in 1 John 3:9, "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

This verse makes it sound like a saved person does not sin. But here's what it literally says when taken from the Greek text: Whosoever has been born of God does not practice sin; for God's seed remains, or abides in him: and he cannot sin, that is, he does not have the capacity to sin because he has been born of God.

You see, once I'm born of the Spirit of God, I do not have the capacity to continue to satisfy a lifestyle of sin. It is impossible! Why? It's because God's Spirit in me keeps me from sinning continually and habitually. That's one way to test if I am truly saved or not. If I go out and keep sinning habitually and the Lord does not deal with me, I'm probably not saved at all. If I step out of line and there's no conviction in my heart, do I really have God's Spirit living in me? Probably not!

As far as paying for our sin, Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sin. There is nothing man can do to pay the penalty for his own sin.

    Hello Rick,

Thank you so much for that and right back at you. I'm not sure what HoHo cookies are but my wife made a bunch of cookies and my favorite peanut brittle. I ate a bunch so far but no worries because I set my scale back 10 pounds. I can't wait to get back to work so I can ask the guys "Do these shoes make me look fat?"
