Is Jesus God? Do we no longer need to regard the Father God? The Holy Spirit? Everything is Jesus?

Deut 6:4 Hear oh Israel, the Lord our God is one.

What did Moses mean when he said that? Did he mean that the Israelites were to worship the one true God only? The Hebrew word for one means in unity with itself? So God wears many hats so to speak? Why would Jesus himself say (in Matthew before ascending to God the Father ) to go and baptize them in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost? But Peter say baptize in Jesus name?

Help me please if you can.I just want Bible TRUTH.

I started going to a United Pentecostal Church. Been there about a year. I went forward to ask prayer for my son who is rebelling towards God and living a lifestyle that is going to bring him so much pain. But instead of praying for me they pointed out that I have not been baptized in Jesus name but in the name of the father son and the Holy Spirit. they prayed over me that the blinders would fall off of my eyes concerning the Trinity and the baptism. So tonight a brother from the church is going to school me with a Bible study about Jesus being God. I noticed that I have been a little confused recently. Not knowing who to pray to anymore. Do I pray to God in the name of Jesus? Or do I just pray to Jesus . I love God. I love that he is a merciful God and creator and that he loved me enough to send his only begotten son to be crucified so that I Might not Perish but have everlasting life . I believe that the blood of Jesus washed away my sins and set me free and is a bridgeOf reconciliation between God and me. But I noticed that I am getting confused. They told me that God is Jesus Jesus is Jesus and the Holy Spirit is Jesus that he's just one and I don't need to pray to God or get baptized in any other name but Jesus's name. I love Jesus so I don't have a problem with Jesus. But I also love God and I understand the Jesus Love's God too. He talks to him all the time.

Hi Donna, what you said about loving God, and sending his Son to be crucified for us, and that we are washed in the blood of his salvation is the basic essence of faith.

Throughout the gospels Jesus is praying to God the Father many times, when he teaches his disciples the Lord's prayer, Matthew 6:9 "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name."

when he teaches his disciples the first and great commandment, Matthew 22:36-39 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."

he also teaches his disciples how they should baptize as in Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

these are but a few examples of how we are taught to pray, the Godhead (Trinity) is explained clearly in 1 John 5:7

you have no reason to be confused, if someone teaches different they are not teaching what is written in the bible. After Jesus baptism when he was in the wilderness and tempted by the devil he didn't argue, but he did quote scripture, this is why it is so important to read our bible (KJV) on a daily basis, we need to put on the whole armor of God, as in Ephesians 6:11-18, a few years ago I started to read my bible on a daily basis, and now have an inner peace that I never had before. God bless

Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" "For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Hi Donna Two points anything that starts confusion is a mayday, where there is confusion is every evil work also

let everything be done decent neat and in order. I am born again by Holy spirit which works in me, I pray to God in

the name of Jesus Christ because by that name everything was done for us and in us. It Is Written

Hi Donna In my prayer life I pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ the name above all names given in heaven and earth must bow.

Donna, May God bless you today with understanding of His Word concerning Who He is as revealed in Scripture.

I concur with those who cite Scripture that speak of God as a triune God of three persons. As Jesus said, baptize believers in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. He prayed to His Father. He said He will send the Holy Spirit. He is speaking of the Father and the Holy Spirit as other Persons, not three personalities within Himself.

The teachings of the church you are attending are denying the eternal Triune nature of God. They are saying that your baptism is invalid. You are now confused because these teaching go against what is said in Scripture that you have believed. Plus, they did not address your serious prayer need, but inserted their desire to convince you of your spiritual need instead.

If it was me, I would not go back to such a fellowship due to the error they teach and the obvious agenda they have to pressure people to come in line with what they preach, in disregard to the ideas and needs of people like you.

I hope that you are helped by what is said here in responses to your post. Most people posting on this site put forth a Triune Godhead. A few put forth a Oneness Doctrine where God operates in three modes or aspects of one being. I will just end with the fact that this Oneness doctrine emerged many times within the church over the centuries and the church at large rejected this doctrine as heresy. It's technical term is Modalism. You can google it and find out more of what your church is promoting and its history.

Simple answer is yes Jesus is God, he is the son of God and also the son of man, he is part of the godhead (triune God) John 1:14 says that the word was made flesh, Jesus also says that He is the only way to God the Father, the Holy Spirit (Comforter) talks to our conscience as in John 14:26, Jesus also talks about the narrow way to life, what he's talking about is Salvation of the cross, and his suffering death and resurrection. I pray that this may answer some of what you were asking.

1 John5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

John 14:26 "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

Luke 1:35 "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."

John 1 says Jesus is God and helped create everything.

John 1:18 is another way of saying the same thing. NIV says Jesus is God. KJV says in bosom of Father.

This is kind of oneness relationship we will likely never fully comprehend until after this life. It takes faith and trust in the Word to believe what it says. Beware of anyone using crafty human logic to explain away the divinity of God or to try to sow doubt, as that does not come from the Bible or from God.

Jesus is God. He's part of the Godhead. Romans 1:20, When he was being tried by the Pharisees, He said: I and my Father are one.

The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us" in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

    Acts 17:27-30

    1 John 5:7

    John 10:30

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made (us), even his eternal power and GODHEAD so that they are without excuse"

    Genesis 1:1

    The Father purposes

The Word (Jesus) speaks. ( John 1:1)

The Spirit (Holy Spirit) executes the spoken word. Action.

Jesus is returning sooner than we all think. Matthew 24 and Luke 21 give us specific signs to watch for. They will increase near the end of days

Something else...this world we call home is going to pass away. We know that it's going to end and be renewed to what God created in Genesis. Before we polluted it and destroyed it with greed and technology. 2 PETER CHAPTER 3.

God promised never to flood the World again. But it is going to burn up. It already happening. IT IS NOT GLOBAL WARMING. The earth is responding to the WORD OF GOD, shown to Peter.

It's coming apart now: forest fires, worldwide droughts, polluted ground water from human belligerence; continent sized floating islands of garbage in both hemispheres. Earthquakes and Volcanos, floods: with increasing intensity. FAULTS once thought long dead will become active. As the end wars will be fought, we'll see space objects hit earth, our cities. Food will be used against us to force us to take THE MARK OF THE BEAST, ANTICHRIST. One world currency will be forced on us next. One world religion. Individuality will be no more.

    Take the Mark=DEATH

    Take Jesus=LIFE ETERNAL

    FAITH believes God's Word.

Hi, Donna many people get confused on this. The Lord is 1 Spirit composed of 3 spiritual beings altogether. The First is the Father, the second is the son, the third is the holy spirit. Altogether they are called Elohim or simply God. They each function perfectly together, so they all know what the other is doing.

Sister Donna, may God grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

God is Spirit, spirit cannot be seen.

    God wanted to be seen.

God created a BODY that can be seen, and he filled that body with himself. He called that first BODY; MAN, our LORD, Jesus Christ. (God in a body)

The MAN, Jesus Christ, through the POWER of the unseen Father in HIM, created all other things.

Jesus Christ, through the works of the cross, is now creating in each of us this KNOWLEDGE, that we are A BODY, just like he is a BODY, that is filled with HIMSELF, as he is ONE with the FATHER, we become ONE with HIM and the FATHER.

Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery... CHRIST IN YOU ....

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD that worketh IN YOU (HIS BODY) TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Ephesians 4:4 One body, and ONE SPIRIT ...

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, and above all, and through you all, and IN YOU ALL.

Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are the children of the most high.

Psalms 104:30 Thou sendest forth thy Spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.

    God Bless You.

Brother Earl, I'm sure you mean well, but I, along with others here do not believe your interpretation of calling Jesus just a man. That disregards scripture like John 1 and Isaiah 44:6 that says Jesus was there in the beginning and helped create everything. Either you believe that or you don't. It clearly says Jesus helped create mankind so we believe it. He is the creator not the creation. This belief disregards all other scripture saying Jesus is God. If you scroll up you will see people have posted dozens of scripture that says that. That would be really sad if you deny the Lord. John 14:6 Isaiah 12:2 Matthew 10:33. 2 Peter 2:1

Do you believe all of the Bible is true?
