How do you know if you are being lured into a cult ?

    If they promise you something?

It could be friendship , security, belonging, etc ?
  • GiGi - In Reply - 2 years ago
I think that some of the signs of a cult are

Claims to have exclusive new revelations straight fr:om God.

    Obvious teaching false doctrines

Claiming to be the only true church that follows the true god

Isolation of members from family and previous relationships that were outside of the fellowship.

Promoting sexual immorality among members and saying it is done for Jesus

Exceedingly strict conduct and dress codes promoting uniformity.

Separation of children from parents for "educational" purposes, but teachings are secretive.

Asking people to tithe hilariously by transferring home deeds, and other personal financial matters over to the church leader/s.

The leader has a select group of a few "yes" men that protect him and ensure people do not speak against the "anointed".
  • Name it - In Reply - 2 years ago
You did ring a few bells , like new prophecies , and the yes men protecting the fraud.

I suppose it just gets worse as they go . Delusion is a terrible thing .

As far as bearing fruit , people should realize they always appear to be like genuine sheep . Until certain circumstances bring the wolf out of them . They know all the right words , so knowing them personally in real life experiences is a must to inspect the fruit of actions not just words .

False doctrines are another matter all together . But is sound doctrine known by many these days ? Hardly . Thanks you for the input .
  • GiGi again - In Reply - 2 years ago
You know, when I grew up, there was more affirmation of what would be termed sound doctrine and it was explicitly taught to the members of churches. I do not know how much of this happens in churches today nor do I know the the level of doctrinal knowledge among the generations younger than me. So, for me, part of my purpose for being on this site is to speak to what I know and have learned over the years as the Spirit leads me, in the hopes that some may gain better understanding of God's Truth. Trials, challenges, and difficulties either bring out the sheep in us or the wolf.

    Bless you.

    I listen carefully to the scriptures and 1 Corinthians ch 14 v34 ,35 , 36 , verse 37

If any man think himself to be a prophet or, spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I Write unto you are the commandments of the Lord .

I whole heartedly agree with apostle Paul . Those that do not endorse women to be disobey the Lord .

You seem like a nice person but obedience to the Lord is most important.

If people are not spiritual in the things of God they are ignorant, verse 38 .

Hmmm. Are you saying, because I am a woman I am being un-scriptural posting on here? I am not in an official "office" as a teacher. I am just one believer sharing to others on this site with all of the others here who are doing the same. I believe we are all called to present spiritual concepts in the best way we can as the Spirit leads us. I do understand what you may be implying that Paul says for women to keep silent in church, and are to learn from their husbands. (I wish that was the case more often) and that women should not be teachers of men. (If so, then just disregard my posts if you think that is what I am intending to do-which I am not! Please, let us submit one to another, bringing to this forum what we believe builds one another up in our faith. That is my intent. Thank you for bringing up this matter.

Gigi This is one of my viewpoints if someones pointing figure at me there pointing three back at themselves, also if I,m being picked on everyone else is being left alone. Your a little long in explanation but that's part of you being you, thank God were not all the same I couldn't put up with me all the time.LOL Perhaps others will get this.
  • GiGi - In Reply - 2 years ago
Yes, it is true that I give lengthy replies or explanations. It is me being me. It also is because I have been misunderstood so many times in my life that I want people to understand me more thoroughly. But then again, the Scripture says to "let my words be few) and that an abundance of words can lead into sin (In James, I believe).

So I have to keep this in mind.

Those who enjoy a long post, will read and consider mine. Those who find it difficult, can skim or just ignore. I am not offended if anyone skips over what I write.
  • David - In Reply - 2 years ago
By the way that was a positive comment just an observation.
  • GiGi again - In Reply - 2 years ago
Yes, I took it as such. Thanks for saying anyway.

Amen Sister Gi Gi and Brother Chris!!

You are a valuable asset to our spiritual growth on this site.

    God bless and keep on.

Sister GiGi, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

There are TWO realms of understanding, man understanding with a carnal mind, or the understanding with CHRIST MIND.

Every person ever created of the dust of the earth, is God's temple, most haven't had this revealed to them, therefore, all mankind, is the CHURCH.

Every person, whether they are male or female is the WOMAN.

The MAN, Jesus Christ is the HUSBAND of the WOMAN.

1 Timothy 2:11 Let the woman (bride) learn in silence with all subjection (to Christ, her husband).

1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not the woman to usurp authority over the man ( Jesus Christ, the husband), but to be in silence.

1 Timothy 2:13 For (the second) Adam was NOT DECEIVED, but the WOMAN being DECEIVED was in the transgression.

1 Timothy 2:14 Notwithstanding, she (the WOMAN) shall be SAVED IN CHILDBEARING (giving birth to truth, life, the way, CHRIST IN US), if they (the CHURCH) continue in FAITH (OF CHRIST) and CHARITY (OF CHRIST) and HOLINESS (OF CHRIST) with SOBRIETY (OF CHRIST).

If the woman has questions, she should as the man, her husband, Christ. ( 1 John 2:27).

We suffer from words of rebuke by those that have NOT YET had the carnal mind DESTROYED and CREATED afresh to the mind of Christ.

Isaiah 11:9 ....for the earth shall be full of the KNOWLEDGE of the LORD ....

God bless and keep speaking HIS WORDS.

    Sister GiGi,

I also agree with everything Brother Chris related, and hope that you will continue to bless all of us here, with the sharing of your vast biblical knowledge and views, coupled with your valuable life experiences as they relate to your faith.

    God Bless.

Thank you for encouraging me and for understanding my intentions and believing that I am in this for the glory of God

Perish the thought, sister. You are highly valued for your very Scriptural-based comments & challenges you give for our further thought & discussion. This is an open forum, with clear guidelines, so any brother, sister or another is free to share what they might have learned from their studies & spiritual revelation. We might be members of Christ's Body but we're not meeting in a Church fellowship setting where their rules for propriety, Church order & responsibility are unapplicable here. Women have always played a major & valuable part in the life of the Church & their teaching whether at home, in the marketplace, or here on KJBO, should be no different & welcomed.

    Hello Chris,

Thank you again for your support and remarks. I agree that this forum is not a usual church that would have a pastor, a council, and the appointment and commissioning of leaders in that church body. This is my first foray into such a forum as this and, although I have read and understand the site guidelines, there may be "rules" that have crept up over the past years that I am not aware of. I think all groups have such unsaid "rules" and I do not want to offend anyone unnecessarily. I do agree that we are all equal on this site as we are all equal in Christ, as Paul has stated. We are to utilize the abilities God has blessed us with to work together to build each other up, guided by the Holy Spirit, so we can reach the full measure that Christ desires for us individually and as a body.

Hello Name it Here's a few indicators our First and great commandment is to love God first by doing His word and never plays with freedom of will. Outside of that once someone starts saying you have to do this to get Gods Blessing or that to get Gods blessing or you have to give money be careful, God wants us to give because we want to not have to. Also God will always tell you to do something first before he tells someone to tell you. God will always work in your heart.
