I'm not a religious bible scholar, but Imo...The Gospel, John 3:16 is the heart and soul of the Bible, and God made it simple enough for a child or atheist to understand and be saved.

John 3:16 For (God) so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

    GOD Saves us-When we BELIEVE-HE Gave us-HIS SON Jesus-as a Sacrifice-to cover our sins....PERIOD!

Imo, the church wastes time and souls by trying to help God save the lost, by adding their religious words and opinions on how to be saved, which lead to confusion and division.

The only Repenting needed is to Repent of our Unbelief in the Gospel. The man on the cross only said, remember me when you get into your Kingdom, Believing Jesus as his Savior.

Sorry it's getting late, but I'd be glad to share many other Godly thoughts if you'd like. :)

Part 1 OR: Baptism Of Repentance for the remission of sins?

Precious friend, Of course the 'Confusion lies in interpreting/Changing Isolated' verses, and Ignoring the Whole Of Scripture, and, Also in Not "Rightly Dividing God's Word Of Truth, 'Approved' Unto Him! 2 Timothy 2:15

You have an opinion: "Imo, Acts 2:38 would have been much better understood, and served God and the world better if it were interpreted as:

'Then Peter said unto them, Repent for the remission of sins, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.'"

Now, this 'interpretation/CHANGE opinion' presents The 'Same problem As Changing' God's Plain Word in Mark 16:16 :

"He that believeth AND is baptized shall be saved"

There is NO NEED to "interpret/CHANGE" God's Plain and Clear Word. When, 'Left in its Context,' IT "Stands As IT IS WRITTEN!" This is Also CONFIRMED in Luke 7:29-30!

Full study in Part II will further 'Confirm' This, According To The Word Of God, Rightly Divided!

Please Be 'Richly' Encouraged, Enlightened, Exhorted, And Edified In JESUS CHRIST, And, In HIS Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided!!

Part II OR: Baptism Of Repentance For The Remission Of sins?:

God's Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided, 'Shows water' is NOT Under God's GRACE, Today:

    (1) Prophecy/Law for ISRAEL: The Twelve 'Were Sent' to water baptize!

The TWO Main, of 12 baptisms =

    A) water, For remission of sins/induction into Israeli "priesthood!" {separate "study" IF you wish...} ( Matthew 3:5-6 Mark 1:4 Luke 3:3 John 1:31 Luke 7:29-30 Acts 10:37 Matthew 28:19 Mark 16:16 Acts 2:38 Acts 22:16 Ezekiel 36:25 John 18:35 Exodus 19:6 ) +

    B) WITH The Holy Spirit, Poured Out By CHRIST, for power, signs And wonders! ( Isaiah 44:3 Matthew 3:11 Mark 1:8 Mark 16:17-18 Luke 24:49 Acts 2:17-18 Acts 2:38 Acts 8:15-17 Acts 11:16 )

    Prophecy/Law

Rightly Divided ( 2 Timothy 2:15 ) From Things That Differ!:

    (2) Mystery/GRACE! = our "apostle to the Gentiles" for The Body Of CHRIST:

Paul 'Was Not Sent' to {water} baptize! Why Not?:

Today: 'Only ONE' Baptism = "BY" The ONE Spirit = God's OPERATION, Spiritually Identifying members In (The ONE Body Of) CHRIST!! ( Ephesians 4:5 Colossians 2:12 Galatians 3:27 Romans 6:3-4 1 Corinthians 12:13 )

    --------------------------------------------------

Thus, This ONE Baptism Is Performed, By God, Today, Under God's GRACE/MYSTERY Program, when the believer "confesses Jesus as Lord and Savior and believes that He died and rose again, and God Saves them" in the twinkling of an eye.

Thus, "water baptism" Is Scriptural, But Dispensationally, "was for the Previous Law/Prophecy Program" of God, For ISRAEL!

Conclusion, water baptism is Scriptural, but, TODAY, is UNdispensational! Amen?

More spiritual understanding of 'Prophecy vs MYSTERY':

REPENT OF DISBELIEF, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS!

Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Imo, This awesome and often quoted verse of the great apostle Peter, has been mis-preached and misinterpreted throughout the ages.

When Peter said unto them, REPENT...He was not speaking to our daily sins, but to the unforgivable sin of Disbelief in the Gospel John 3:16, but the Religious Judaizers try to tell us we must repent of our sins...before we can be saved.

Then many try to tie water baptism into the act of repentance, saying we must be water baptize before we can be saved.

Imo, the words "for the remission of sins," were taken out of context, because again, the only thing that can remit our sins is, repenting of our Disbelief, and Believing IN the Gospel. Imo, Peter actually was saying, "Repent for the remission of sins."

Imo, Acts 2:38 would have been much better understood, and served God and the world better if it were interpreted as:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent for the remission of sins, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Imo, Repentance of Disbelief-SAVES us, and Water Baptism-Empowers and helps us to Repent of our sins.

Would appreciate any Good and Godly comments on this, esp. Bro Dan. Thank You. :)

Imo, the reason I posted about John 3:16, is I get Irked when I constantly see the RELIGIOUS trying to Improve on, Add too, or Complete all that's Needed to be SAVED, that Jesus Completed on the cross. They can't seem to grasp...

GOD Saves us-When we BELIEVE-HE Gave us-HIS SON JESUS-as a Sacrifice-to cover our sins. PERIOD!

ALL additional Words and Works Man tries to Add to SALVATION are supporting Details implicit in the Gospel...such as...

REPENT...all we must Repent of is the Unbelief in the Gospel...FAITH..we Believe and Receive by Faith...BLOOD is implicit in sacrificial Death of Christ...GRACE is God's Loving Act of sacrificing His Son...The CROSS...is the Tool used to sacrifice Jesus...DEATH BURIAL RESURRECTION are part of the sacrificial process...but again GOD SAVES us, by Jesus the Gift, through the Power of the Holy Spirit. :)

That's a great verse, but others might believe Acts 2:38 or Mark 12:30-31 is actually the heart and soul of the Bible.

You chose to put emphasis on belief which even satan and demons may believe. But other verse emphasize your actions such as repentance, confession, baptism, faith, love, or obeying God.

A small percent of Christians believe it's impossible for them to ever lose their salvation, despite whatever future sins they choose to commit, but the Bible doesn't say that. We can have assurance of salvation IF we follow Jesus Christ. It assumes that Christians (Christ followers) are actually following Christ and obeying Him!

This seems like a no-brainer, but should be stated, because there are indeed many Christians using their hope in salvation as an excuse to sin- as if they have an unlimited hall pass or something, ignoring the fact that sin is highly disrespectful to God, like spitting on Him, and assuming you know better than Him, and turning your back on Him. Think of a selfish and stubborn 4-year old throwing a tantrum in front of his parent.

They're told they're saved in sermons and that the race is already won and so they go commit all kinds of sins and try to enjoy themselves as they turn their back on Jesus. Some may even blaspheme the holy spirit, which the Bible clearly says is an unforgivable sin. The Bible also says to fear God- fear the one who can send you to hell. God is a loving fair God, but some people falsely assume He's a genie in a lamp there to serve you. Nope, it's the opposite. You are the servant... to righteousness. Romans 6:18, John 14:15. I don't hear this message very often and feel it's my moral duty to remind of this and to try their best to genuinely follow Jesus and to stay on course and avoid sin. Some may need to hear this today and it might be a perspective they've never heard.

    2 Peter 2:20-21

God bless. Jesus is coming soon. The time is now to be prepared.

All you contribute to John 3:16 and my post is, "It's a great verse," and then you go off, and on to your topics.

Again, God made it beautiful and simple enough for a child, or even an atheist to understand and be Saved.

The religious can't grasp or appreciate the profound Beauty Simplicity and Completeness of the Gospel, and forever try to add their words and works.

They can't accept what Jesus did and said on the cross that, "IT IS FINISHED...and that,

GOD Saves us...When we BELIEVE...HE Gave us HIS SON Jesus...as a Sacrifice-to Cover our Sins....PERIOD!

Many try to site other verses, but they are just supporting the details implicit to John 3:16.

I have not been to church or read the bible in years, but I own ten and did read it about ten times. Actually, the bible, other than text books, is the only book I've read in the past 50 years, but I did compose a simple hymn called the BIBLE...along with others not so simple.

I'd appreciate any Good and Godly comments about John 3:16. Thank you. :)

Not if we continue to live a life of sin.

Even the devil and his demons believe. Are they going to heaven too?

50 years after Jesus died he revealed the below scripture to apostle John.

    Revelation 12:12-14

12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Above is the Judge telling us what we will need to enter in through the gates of the city - Heaven!

    There is NO FREE TICKET!

    God Bless.

    That should be Revelation 22:12-14

12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

    God Bless

Thank you! A morning meditation. One beautiful thing that the one sinner on the cross beside the Lord did, was to establish his need for reconciliation with God, just as Jesus was near ready to finish by love, the Work of reconciliation. This thief in the world lined up his unrighteousness to the one beside him that new no sin and he judged himself as lost. He loved the Lord and wanted to be part of His finished work which is peace with God and man. Jesus answered this cry before the Work was finished and saved this man in his sins and promised His home in Paradise to the now saved sinner. This is another proof that Jesus was and is God as the Work was not yet finished. For those whom have come after this moment we can look back to this precious finished work at Calvary in awe. There is no excuse for any not to believe in Jesus as the only Savior of man and surrender their separated will from the Will of the Father and they will know that their sins were forgiven by a peace that is beyond understanding and a power to stay turned away from willing sin.
