Why did God say "let us make man in our image" who is "us" and who is "our"

When God said to make man in our image, my understanding is that man is created body ( John 1:14), soul (Gen.2:7) and spirit ( John 4:24). Much like the triune God.

Hi Shayne, that's an interesting idea of body, soul, spirit being like the trinity. But do these really align perfectly? For example, is God always a body? and which of the triune God is always a body, Jesus? But scriptures (like the one you just shared) show that physical body was only a temporary thing for Him being on Earth. Matt 27:50 says Jesus gave up His spirit when He died on earth, showing that He too is a spirit. Also, God the Father or possibly a trinity also came into physical form too, when He wrestled with Jacob, for instance. Genesis 32:29. Also the LORD appeared to people in the old testament: Genesis 18:1-33. And who is the "LORD" of the old testament? Jesus, God the Father, the Holy Spirit, or triune God?

Let us (the Father and the Son) make (create) man in our (the Fathers and the Sons) image.

If your still in your FLESH, then you haven't YET become the IMAGE of the Father and the Son.

Ephesians 4:4 For there is ONE BODY (in Christ), and one Spirit (Life and Truth).

This is GIVEN to you when you no longer SUFFER IN THE FLESH.

1 Corinthians 15:54 .....DEATH is swallowed up in VICTORY (the works of Christ).

The word US ; is everyone, all of Gods children including himself ,.. OUR ; is the same thing,.. picture yourself around the age of 26 - 30 ,.. for that is pretty much what you looked like in your original spiritual body,.. the spiritual body, never grows old , never gets sick , it's of course, perfect. An why Jesus would say , if you've seen me , you've seen the Father
