Please explain "eye of a needle" in Matthew 19:24. I've been told it's a small opening in a large wall, thru which a camel has to kneel down (with nothing on his back) to get thru it. Is this true?

i believe the principal is close to accuracy,,, whoever its not a hole in a wall... yes, the burden has to be lifted off the back of the camel, but its a gate entrance into the city and the loop design & narrow gate the camel must pass thru... SO, CAN YOU, relate anything of what i shared in comparison to other Scriptures???? may God bless you..................

    Wesley's Notes for Matthew 19:24

19:24 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, (a proverbial expression,) than for a rich man to go through the strait gate: that is, humanly speaking, it is an absolute impossibility. Rich man! tremble! feel this impossibility; else thou art lost for ever!

People's Bible Notes for Matthew 19:24

Mt 19:24 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man (i.e., as already explained, one who trusts in riches) to enter into the kingdom of God. In other words, one whose trust is in wealth cannot enter at all.

Hi Carole, this has been circulated around for years, but I don't believe it's true. I think it was made up by people to not feel as bad about it being hard for rich people to go to heaven. I believe the Bible already said what it means regarding the eye of the needle. It's already symbolic and this extra layer of symbolism that isn't explained in the Bible, but only by hearsay, is highly suspicious. The Bible says it's hard for rich to go to heaven and I believe the Bible over man. I don't believe this is a punishment on anyone who is financially successful, but shows how important and extra difficult it is to not be corrupted by money and the love of money. It also says in v26 that all things are possible with God on your side.
