The answer to the question in not Job 29:8 I talks about the young men saw me and hid their themselves. The aged men arose, and stood up.

How does this verse relate to Job's wealth? I don't get this as the answer>

    Thank you

Shirley, Job 29:1 ....continued his parable.....this chapter and some preceding and some following this chapter are prophesies about Christ, much like Psalms 22. Study it in this light and it will make more sense to you. The pronoun I, is Christ speaking, not Job. Remember it's a parable.

Young men became quiet and moved away and older men stood up to greet him , this is more about showing respect than about wealth I think .

Shirley Job was a great man who believed God and like us got hit with fear Job 3:25 He lost everything he had, but in everything that Happened to Him he never blamed God. In Job 29 there is figurative language he is remembering the days when Gods light candle was upon Him and Gods presents was always with him verses of His abundance and prestige among the younger and older people also the respect he had no matter where he went and what he did Gods presents was with him. In Job 30 he back discussing his present condition which was horrible, but in the end God gave Job twice as much as he had before. I agree with you there are phrases written that have a lot to do with eastern thought. Prayerfully this helps.

Shirley , being quiet and standing up to greet some one who is respected is the polite tradition in many cultures .Deference to an older wiser person is displayed in different ways in different cultures but also in many similar ways around the world . You have to be taught these polite nicities when you are a child , I was brought up strict so I didn't speak to an adult unless they spoke to me until I was about 16 years old , I always move out of the way for an older person or even a younger one some times , give my seat to any one who needs it more than I do , open doors for people etc , I was trained that way , not so many young people do those things now but that's because they weren't trained as children .
