    In Numbers 14:1-24 and Joshua 14:6-15, What role does conviction plays in commitment?

    Hi Walter. I feel that Conviction (plus Faith) plus Commitment equals an unshakeable & undistracted focus & reliance upon the LORD God.

    From the Scriptures you gave, all three (Moses, Joshua & Caleb), demonstrated this throughout their lives; the special link to both Conviction & Commitment is Faith, without which both Conviction & Commitment would fail as it often happened to the children of Israel. The calibre of these three great men & the mediocrity of the rest of Israel, demonstrated that Israel only saw the Law & their compulsion to obey, but these men saw the Living God, His spoken Word, & the Divine Hand that led them.

    Those 2 words are not in the King James Bible. You can verify by using THE SEARCH BOX.

    The word you will find in the Bible is COVENANT. It's stronger than the other two words.

    John Chapter 16:7

    7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

    8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

    9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

    10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

    11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

    Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

    Examples of COVENANT

    Ezekiel 16:60

    Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.

    Genesis 17:13

    He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

    Leviticus 26:42

    Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

    2 Kings 23:3

    And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

    Walter Could you clarify the question in the context of the scripture references given.
