    can anyonbe tell me about the Nicolaitans please

    Thomas,

    There are two views as to what the Nicolaitans are. One view is that the Nicolaitans were led by a man named Nicholas. He's mentioned back in Acts 6:5. He's one of the men that were chosen to distribute bread to the Greek speaking Jewish community. Some historical documents say that Nicholas left the church and became a Gnostic, and began spreading false teaching.

    There is another view, which appears to be the correct view since the Nicolaitans were not even that well established at this time as far as Nicholas goes.

    The word Nicolaitan is made up of two Greek words, NIKE (pronounced nee-kay) and is the word for overcome. It's the word for victory. And LAOS means the people. It represented the democratic control of the people in the church, where the leaders ruled. They lorded it over the flock. And the Lord says I hate that!

    You see, we're all equal. If God wanted me to be a leader, it would not be because I'm more special than anybody else. He might call me to that particular function, but that doesn't mean that once I start functioning in that area, that I know the Lord better than you do.

    Many churches have fallen because the leaders took human control over the church, and they themselves were not governed by God's Spirit. The deeds of the Nicolaitans, the lording it over the flock, the human democracy over God's people, God says He hates.

    That doesn't mean that there cannot be administration. But Christians today function like Jesus Christ ascended up into heaven, and left us here to do His work for Him. No! He's still here. He's still the head of the church. He's our leader. And if you're in leadership, you still look to the leader who is Jesus Christ.

    Amen Brother Jesse.

    Ephesians 4:1-6. I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

    With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

    Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

    There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

    One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

    One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

    I see you got through!!

    God bless

    Thanks brother Spencer,

    Come to find out from the KJBO staff is that the reason why my post was not going through was because there are certain words that are flagged and the system will reject the post, even before it has a chance to be reviewed by the staff. They never saw my original post and asked if I could reply to the email they sent me with what I had posted. After looking it over, they said it probably rejected it because of the word N#K# (same word as the athletic shoe) was used more than once. It sounded like someone in the past was using this site to advertise a product which is not allowed here. Anyway, I reworded my original post by removing one of the words and it went through.

    Brother Jesse,

    It great you got it all ironed out.

    I had all sorts of trouble yesterday trying to link verses and that was a disaster.

    Then I tried to paste and post the verses and posted them backwards "out of order " That's what I get for proof reading AFTER I send.

    Hi Thomas.

    Do you have any further questions?

    Thomas From what I researched these were so called christians who believed they didn't have to change any pagan practices and didn't have to follow the apostles doctrine. In pergamos they had a temple where inside an Cast Iron bull they burned human sacrifices alive. An interesting piece of history, Adolf Hitler was heavy into the occult sent people there to move the temple to germany where to this day there is a full scale replica of the temple built with the bull. Hitler believed things dealing with the occult gave him more power.

    Hi Thomas.

    I will give you what I picked up from 2 separate studies. Nicolaitans is 2 Greek words combined that means rule the people. It's where you see those who were in the Church in the clergy would rule over the people.

    Writing to Ephesus

    In Revelation 2:6 The Lord had issue the deeds of the Nicolaitans.

    Revelation 2:6. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

    By the time we come to Pergamos those deeds became doctrine.

    Revelation 2:15. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

    Note: I have no knowledge of Greek.

    do your research.

    God bless.
