Satan ( Rom. 16:20) = "Satan" is the proper name of the devil and translates from the Greek (transliterated "Satanas"; pronounced Sat-an-AS").

The name "Satan" means "adversary" (cp. 1Pet. 5:8) who opposes GOD and CHRIST, HIS Church, and every believing saint by any and all means and resources possible.

The New Testament most often identifies Satan as "the Devil" which literally means "the slanderer or false accuser". Slanders and false accusations are just two methods Satan uses against GOD's people.
