Tithing was the Old Testament system and no longer valid . We do not sacrifice animals to God either . Jesus ended the whole system and now is at Gods right hand always for us !
That's awesome he intercedes on our behalf , no need to pay Levite's for priestly work .
But giving is always a good thing to to , do it wisely and be blessed .
I sat under the ministry of a pastor who never asked for money and never even passed a collection basket around during the service. Giving money was not important to him. But people still gave, and there was a reason why they gave. It wasn't out of obligation. What was important to him was that people were being ministered to, being fed!
In fact, he would tell those in his congregation that "If you're not being fed here, please go somewhere where you will be fed. To him, it wasn't important that they were there. What was important to him was that they were being fed. That was most important, that a person was being fed spiritually.
Now, ask yourself, are you being fed where you fellowship? If so, maybe your perspective on giving back might change.
I think it is important to support those in ministry, especially those who feed us. We should also feed them.
If the Lord puts it on your heart to give, then give. If He's not leading you to do so, don't!
If JESUS says to do something we better do it ( If you love me keep my word - commandants)
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! (for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin), and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done (judgment, mercy, and faith), and not to leave the other undone (judgment, mercy, and faith). So yes Jesus said pay tithe, On the cross he said it is finished, can't add or take away. He has spoken to us by his word we should heed his word not wait to see if we feel like it.
My brother the tithing system is not done away with. In Malachi it states can I man rob God. yes in tithes and offering. God also states if we return said he will open the windows of heaven and pour blessings on us. What a promise only if we are faithful will we receive this blessings.
" Hebrews 8:13 "In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away."
(Christians are not under the Old Covenant or Testament but under the New Covenant or Testament. The book of Malachi is under the Old Covenant or Testament.)
Luke 22:20 "Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you."
(Jesus set up or inaugurated the New Covenant or Testament with his shed blood. The laws governing that New Covenant or New Testament and recorded in the letters written to the first-century Church. The Apostle Paul or any other Apostle, in all their letters, never instructed the first-century Church to tithe - not once.)
2 Corinthians 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
(The Apostle Paul sets the standard for giving under the New Covenant or Testament - "as he purposes in his heart" - in other words, whatever a person decides to give is his personal choice.)
1 Corinthians 16:2 "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."
(The Apostle Paul says "as God has prospered him". He never mentions an obligatory tithe.)
