Someone was really sick. And had no money or insurance. I thought it was pneumonia. So I sold my diving tanks along with all the equipment to dive , everything. I sold it really cheep to obtain money quickly. Well , the person never paid me and after repeated times knocking on his door with no answer I gave up. The person who needed medical help pulled through with God's help. But I wonder how the dive trip ended out for him. I wanted revenge at first but backed away and moved on. That happened 40 years ago while traveling in San Bernardino California.

I had some idea about our God and Jesus Christ but didn't really understand much of the Bible until lately and the Commentary on 1 Thessalonians 1-6 brought this all back to mind. So now instead of revenge I prayed for him not knowing if he was alive or dead.

Ultimately, you certainly did the right thing by leaving off the debt & committing him to the Lord. But was it really a debt that he owed you, or did you gift him the money because of love & concern for his life? Usually, a debt to be paid needs a written declaration, or else it can be construed as a gift with no compulsion to repay. Whatever, I'm sure you have received the greater blessing for your kindness.
