Why did God hate Esau and love Jacob? What had Esau done? Is this because he gave up his birthright for the food?

The birthright meant nothing to Esau. He traded it for a bowl of lovely venison stew? Soup?
Rebekah planned it and made Jacob help her.
The Bible says that GOD hated Esau for it.
Afterwards, Esau chased Jacob all over trying to get the birthright back.
Comment: This is the only scripture in the Bible where it says God hated someone.
This is Old Testament. Also, the bloodline of Jesus was traveling through Jacob.
"Amen!"

God has no pleasure with foolishness , you might ask why does God hate evil ?
It says God is angry with sinners , yet if they repent he is willing to forgive them , because he loves mercy over judgement .
God knows everyone and He is the perfect judge . He sees things only he can see about people , so must except that .
"Amen!"

Hell is full of people that refuse Gods love and persist in sinning . There is no place for them with God , God hates sin more than any of us could image .

God is a consuming fire. He cannot look upon sin. That's why Jesus had to bridge the gap with His sacrifice; once, and for all.
For God so loved the world (
John 3
).
