Where in the KJV does it state about staying with our race?

    Wanda,

    I would love to help.

Before I reference the laws within the Old Testament may I sincerely inquire why you ask this question?

    Thanks

My nephew is trying to say that it is no where in the Bible about dating outside your race. Our family is not racist nor are we against the African Americans. We are trying to get him to understand that it is in the Bible and he argues that the Old Testament doesn't count. Can you please help me with this?

Your nephew is right that there's nothing in the Bible about marrying outside your race. However, the OT does count. He's wrong about that. How many times does Jesus say, "It is written . . ." or "It has been said . . ."? Ok. Just where was it written? In the Old Testament, of course! If Jesus thinks it counts, trust me, it counts.

Now, on the racial question, Miriam objected to the race of Moses' wife, and God made her (Miriam) white as snow -- with leprosy! The children of Israel were instructed not to take wives from or give wives to the heathen people around them, but there was no racial specification given whereby they were to determine who was heathen and who was not. Nor was there a "heathen patent" issued to any particular race. You were free to be a heathen, regardless of your race, as long as you weren't one of the children of Israel.

The children of Israel were also commanded by Moses not to make intertribal marriages within the tribes of Israel, so that their inheritances would not move from tribe to tribe. There was nothing racist about that.

I'm almost done with my eighth study of the Bible, and, to my knowledge, there's nothing about staying within your RACE in it.

God doesn't say anything about interracial marriage. Many have occurred in the Bible ie Moses and Abraham.

He does caution a Christian marrying an unbeliever. The unbeliever might forbid the Christian from going to church or reading the Bible.

You can google 'interracial Marriage Bible' and see what you see. I did.

Interculturaly it's difficult. Arguments ensue over religion, culture, baptism of children; things like that.

That's why a couple should DATE for at least a YEAR. Most people can't maintain being on their best behavior for that long.
