What a book of wisdom , there is nothing amiss . The end of the chapter is very revealing to the times in which we live .

We do live in very adulterous times . And the offspring will be ungodly and bring destruction . ( if they repent salvation is open to all ) but are we not seeing this happening today ? Lawlessness etc...

Even in Christendom half the people are divorced and many remarried! This is adultery . You don't even have to go that far , there are other ways of adultery to corrupt like adult entertainment etc.

In the time before Noah the sons of God began to intermarry with women of ungodly men , this was the beginning of the end for that world . Unequal yoke produced destructive offspring. And the rest was history as we know what happened .

The sons of God where Gods people , not demons or angels as some think . They are sexless and not able to produce offspring with men .

In Genesis men began to call on the Lord , these where Gods people , they walked with God , how about Enoch ? I'm stopping here , getting long .

    Bob Grove,

Did not Jesus allow for divorce based upon "fornication" ( Matthew 5:32, 19:9). All those people that divorced based upon that reason are NOT committing adultery..according to the words of Jesus.

    God is a divorcee ( Jeremiah 3:8).

God will re-marry Israel again ( Ezekiel 37:15-28).

Fornication can only be premarital sex , then voiding the virgin .

Fornication while married is only adultery .
  • Greg - In Reply on Wisdom of Solomon 3 - 3 years ago
    Bob Grove,

Fornication is not just pre-marital sex.

Where did you find your definition or understanding of this word?

Fornication is the Greek word "porneia" and means "sexual immorality, MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS, prostitution, adultery; a general term for sexual sin of any king. (Strong's #4202).

Bob, do yourself a favor if you care to understand Scripture correctly. Get yourself a Bible Concordance, which is a Hebrew and Greek dictionary of all words in the Bible.
  • Bob Grove - In Reply on Wisdom of Solomon 3 - 3 years ago
Greg I find it remarkable that you can understand the difference between fornication and adultery . You need a dictionary to tell you the definition? How about the Holy Spirit that we have that God has given us ? We need not that any man teach us .

So please no more vain words taken from mans doctrines ...

Who are the Sons of God in Genesis 6 before the flood of Noah?

Sons of God (ANGELS) shout before the world began - Adam man came 6 days later. How can Adam shout before he existed?

Job 38:4 - Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Job 38:5 - Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

    Job 38:6 - Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

Job 38:7 - When the morning stars sang together, and all the SONS OF GOD sons of God shouted for joy?

How can the sons of God be men since they were shouting for joy when the earth was created?

Adam man did not come till 6 days AFTER the earth was made.

Adam was a Son of God since he created him -

Angels are SONS of God since God created them and was their Father

Jesus is the only BEGOTTEN SON of GOD -

Believers DO NOT become Sons of God till they are born again of the Holy Spirit only in the new testament

So were all the SONS OF GOD of Genesis 6 the men who were ALL righteous

the DAUGHTERS OF MEN were all women who were ALL wicked and evil

So all the men were godly and the women were evil ?

Really can we believe this: all the men were godly and the women were evil

then the godly men and wicked women got married and believers and unbelievers had children who were GIANTS

so where are these giants today? Playing for the NBA?

2 Samuel 21:20 - And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

so see any unbelievers running around with 6 fingers and toes?

then the Lord commanded all the they be killed? What?

No the fallen angels tried to corrupt the blood line of the chosen seed. that is why the Lord commanded the Cannanites be exterminated.

    Bob Hilt,

Well said and well presented concerning the "Sons of God."

    Right on!

    Luke 11 .24

    Luke 24 .39

Demons are falling angels and they are spirits without flesh unless they possess a person .

They are not capable of sexual relationships with flesh .

Read Job 38 which tells you the Sons of God shouted for joy at the foundation (creation) of the earth.

Adam did not exist until 6 days after the earth was created. So how can the sons of God be godly men? Adam did not even exist to shout then.

since when do godly men marry ungodly women and then giants are born to them?

John 1:14 Jesus is the ONLY BEGOTTEN Son of God.

Luke 3:38 Adam is called a son of God since God created him.

1 John 3:1 Believers do not become Sons of God till they are born of the Spirit.

So who was the Father of the angels? would they not be Sons of God also?

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

I know most churches will argue with me and claim Genesis 6 is not referring to angels and I say they are wrong.

when do believers and unbelievers get married and have giants for kids? Goliath anyone?

Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God IN HEAVEN. NOT ALL THE ANGELS ARE IN HEAVEN, some were cast out.

    Genesis 4 . 26

Notice the word " began "
  • Greg - In Reply on Wisdom of Solomon 3 - 3 years ago
    Bob Grove,

    Page 2

It seems that "Enos" is the first person recorded within the blood line of Adam and Eve that willfully chose to fall away from the word of God. Both Adam and his wife displayed fear for having disappointed the LORD ( Genesis 3:8 - 10), as well as honesty to Him about their transgression ( Genesis 3:12, 13). Seth, being Adam and Eve's first listed biological son ( Genesis 5:3), is not mentioned in Scripture as acting against the word of God in any form or manner.

To build a wedge between the word of God and His people is the main goal of Satan, and those who do his work for him. Being of a particular family or heritage does not determine whether you will love God or not; that is an individual decision. The example is set forth in this verse that within the direct bloodline of Adam, even at this early period in time, there is a falling away from the saving grace of the LORD, and it "began" with "Enos."

I believe it is also worth mentioning that "Enos" is the only Antediluvian patriarch of the genealogy of Adam and Eve, save for Seth, that is listed among "THE GENERATIONS OF THE HEAVENS AND OF THE EARTH" ( Gen 2:4). Seth is mentioned for genealogy purposes only, as the focus of this verse ( Gen 4:26) is about the error and wickedness of "Enos." The focus of the entire 4th chapter of Genesis, in general, concerns the rise of the seed of Satan upon the earth, and the influence they had on mankind from its earliest beginnings. Even though Adam walked with God only three generations earlier, "Enos" has himself chosen to fall away from the LORD and ally himself with the sons of the wicked one.
  • Greg - In Reply on Wisdom of Solomon 3 - 3 years ago
    Bob Grove,

I understand Genesis 4:26, and specifically the word "began" in this way:

Mankind in general, and Adam, in particular, was properly calling upon the name of the LORD long before the birth of "Enos." Suitable worship of the LORD did not begin with this one "Enos," as Scripture has already given us the example of Abel, whose tribute unto the LORD for his transgressions was found to be acceptable by Him ( Genesis 4:4).

Many believe this verse to convey the sense that the worshippers of the LORD began, at this point in time, to publically band together, calling or representing themselves as dedicated disciples to God and His word. These measures were taken by them in order to distinguish themselves from the wicked generations of Cain, known as "Kenites" ( Genesis 15:19), that were rapidly advancing in all facets of life; especially their worship of their god, Satan.

I believe that what did originate with "Enos" can be better understood from the Hebrew word "chalal," which is translated "began" in Genesis 4:26. The definition and etymology of the word should be reviewed for clearer understanding.

The practice "Enos began" was that of profaning and defiling himself, his heritage, and most importantly, the name of the LORD. "Enos began" calling the names of men, and the names of idols, directly by the name of the LORD, thereby allowing even more confusion to be brought upon the true children of God that are eagerly wanting to understand His precepts.

    Given below is ( Genesis 4:26) from the Targum of Jonathan;

"And to Sheth also was born a son, and he called his name Enosh. That was the generation in whose days they began to err, and to make themselves idols, and surnamed their idols by the name of the Word of the Lord."

Seth was the replacement for Able and Enos was calling on the LORD , I will stick with the inspired word . Save your words please !

Don't stop Bob - I like it! The Church needs good, strong prophetical words of warning at this time - to really shake her up. I don't refer much to the Apocryphal books but do admit there is much in there that is worthy for contemplation, & what you've said aligns well with the Canon of Scripture.

"And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" ( Lk 18:7,8). I wonder what the condition of His Bride will be at His Coming? Will she be anxiously awaiting His Coming or recoiling in shame for her many hidden & overt sins?
  • Bob Grove - In Reply on Wisdom of Solomon 3 - 3 years ago
Chris there is so much that could be said , but really it's all been said in the bible already .

I do believe there will be a lot of surprises of what the future holds . Jesus will build his church and the gates of hell will not prevail.

The more I read the bible the more I realize the church if you want to call it that has been deceived in so many doctrines of men . The only cure is prayerful study of the bible and turn off the preachers that are mainstream. So many of these false teachings started over 100 yrs ago . And even some of them after the departure of the apostles. But we still have the One faith delivered unto the saints , found in the Bible . I'm disappointed that the Apocrypha was removed , terrible mistake , the KJV translators where God fearing men and I think they got it right .
