    G.W. Matthews

I truly believe that God created good and evil so that we can have a choice. He doesn't want robots but people who would want to love Him. That's why I believe He put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the mist of garden so we can have a choice. He loves us that much. He didn't want to force us to love Him but freely love Him. It's God good.

Gwynn, you're on very dangerous ground to believe that God created both good & evil. I had an uncle who also said similarly & he believed that since we have good & bad things on Earth & since He is Supreme, that God also created evil. How wrong & foolish he was. God can never be a creator of anything evil. Either God is Good or evil, not both. Can the Devil also share this inconceivable trait? Never, he is altogether evil. How about humans? Some say we can be both good & evil. The Bible teaches us that all of us are inherently evil ( Rom 3:23) (i.e. we all have a sin nature passed down generations from our first parents), that even if we commit the smallest sin, then the whole person is a sinner. ( 1 Cor 5:6 speaks about a little leaven = sin, leaveneth the whole lump). God is Holy. There are many, many references to this, but apostle John gives us a vision of Heaven & sees the heavenly beings cry out "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD God Almighty, which was, is & is to come" ( Rev 4:8).

God doesn't create evil, but allows evil, because he allows freewill to choose right or wrong. Satan is allowed to tempt us just as God allowed Job to be tempted and tested. We are all being tested while here on earth.

BTW, Chris I think its risky to call someone foolish or a fool because of Matthew 5:22.

Adam, thank you for alerting me to Mt 5:22: re: fool. That Scripture refers to the use of the word (Raca) when it is directed to the person in anger: Thou fool = you worthless, good for nothing idiot. How you can apply that word usage to describe someone's thoughts or standing before God as a risky position is beyond my knowledge of our language. Should I clarify further with Scriptures, of which there are many & you would be well aware of: Gal 3:1,3; Mt 7:26; 25:2,3,8; Rom 1:21, 2:20, 10:19. In all these references, which are akin to my usage, the word 'foolish' is lawful in its use, & not to be associated with direct 'name calling', which is undoubtedly under girded with the sin of anger. Blessings.

Not everyone would see it that way. God bless. Matthew 12:36-37

Greetings Adam, I overall agree with your statement that the Lord did not create evil however....

Isaiah 45:7 I (Lord) form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Darkness is absence of light. The Lord created everything good as in Genesis 1: 31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

All God created was good, no evil yet Job 38 records the sons of God shouting for joy at the foundation of the earth. So they must be angels since Adam did not exist till 6 days after the earth. Lucifer was in existence and been good.

Ezekiel 28 records the fall of Lucifer

Verse 15 "Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee."

    Created, not born or formed...

Yes God created Lucifer good who you point out rightfully that he had freewill to fall and he became evil. Since God created all he did evil to

I believe everything God created is good, man has created evil.

    Amen Marie,

If I might add, in the creation account back in Genesis, if you notice during creation, after day one through day 6 of creation, after each day it says it was good. But if you notice the seventh day, it doesn't say it was good. That's because we are still in the seventh day right now. And during this entire time frame, man has been evil.
