  • Xandr on 1 Corinthians 1
The answer here cannot be oversimplified. For example, many places you will find our Lord referred to as 'Jesus (Matthew 1:13). Christ (Matthew 1:16; Ep. 1:3). Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:1). Jesus, the Christ (Matthew 16:16, 20: 26:63). Jesus, the Christ of God (Luke 19:20). Christ (Matthew 1:16:20). Christ Jesus (First Tim. 1:5). When you use a definite article, in English grammar, the word following it is almost always a noun (in this case, a title). But, in the original languages, it is not always clear whether 'the' is intended. In some translations, definite articles are written in italics, suggesting that it was inserted for clarity. So, you see, in depth study is in order before a conclusion is in order.
