1 Samuel 12:16-25 Principle illustrated: God does not tolerate wickedness and shows that through Samuel. God sent thunder and rain when Samuel asked Him to do so to prove to the Israelites that the Lord hated their wickedness. Because the thunder and rain came down, the people feared God and Samuel. The people then asked Samuel to pray for God to not let them die because of their sin. Samuel then encouraged the people by saying that God will never forsake them. I remember the times when I had done something that my parents told me not to do and consequences immediately followed. They did not spare the rod on me. In this case the thunder and rain came to me in the form of daddys leather belt. Daddy set me straight because he loved me and did not want me to wickedly disobey him again. From that experience I learned that I needed to obey my dad and that if I did not I would be paying for it later.
