The name Israel that God gave to Jacob after the contended with each other. I believe that Israel = contended with God, not against God. In Lucifer's rebellion, those faithful with God CONTENTED with God against Lucifer. The faithful, those written in the Lamb's book of life before the foundations of this earth age, were to be given the name Israel in this earth age.
Notice the New Jerusalem, REV 21; And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
