So, the thief on the cross didn't go to paradise with Jesus like He told him he would?

Not immediately, dear debra;otherwise, the scripture could not be true, that peter gave in the 1st teaching after receiving the holy spirit, that no man has ascended up to heaven, save the son of man, that came down from heaven;& he, is the firstborn of many bretheren. be well, continue in study; blessings upon you.

You MUST be baptised, to receive salvation it is a requirement of God, that's why Christ was baptised by John the Baptist . Cheers.

Baptism(miktva), is a physical sign of one's faith in THE Saviour promises, and, being in solidarity with him(doing as HE did), and, simple Obedience to his simple command(which are NOT grievous!). Remember, if baptism alone, brought salvation, then many false men who crept in unawares, must receive salvation, and, even many devil worshipping folk must at least partly qualify, for water baptism, was also known of and practiced in many ancient cultures!

Remember, salvation, is the ultimate gift of creator to his creation, and, with it goes the only road to immortality possible!(ezekiel18:4 & 20 in particular; the entire chapter in general, and compare it with the sermon on the mount; supplement it with John1:VIII to X and John2:I to VI and James1:XVII & XVIII also James2:VIII to XXVI, Capping it with Matthew V:13 to 20(from HIS mouth, in the sermon on the mount therefore: irrefutable!

The Thief will be in Gods kingdom,God does not lie and keeps his promises. might have been like the Lost son in Luke 15,was previously baptised then lost his way and did wrong then asked Christ forgiveness . Cheers.

The thief will be in THE Kingdom, But, in the one where the saviour has come back to rule earth during a millineum of 1000 years(see the revelation of the saviour, esp., 19:XI to XVI +XIX to XXI & particularly, 20: I to XV & 21:I to VII);pray for discernment, so as "rightly divide the word of truth", believing Scripture, not the words of men!

    Be Well; Blessings upon you!!

Does God not have the power to save whomever he wants to? Can't God see the hearts of people? Is God not a fair judge? Why doubt what Jesus says?

Adam, I am hearing baptism is part of salvation....It is a witness to the world that God washed away our sins through the blood Jesus shed on the cross and therefore we have been saved .....I used the thief on the cross to make a point to those having not been baptized that they ARE saved " through grace...by faith." Ephesians 2:4

Hi Debra, how do you interpret Acts 2:38 ? If you don't think it's necessary, do you think it's important? If not, why do you think the Bible says this? Do you think there's any downside to a Christian being baptized other than getting wet and maybe feeling inconvenienced or embarrassed? For example, if a Christian wasn't 100% sure that Acts 2:38 meant baptism was necessary or not, why wouldn't a Bible-believing Christian want to be baptized?

I didn't say I didn't want to be baptized, neither did I say all the people on their death beds, people in burning buildings, people being murdered who confessed their sins to God, knowing they were dying, didn't want to be baptized, I said we don't have to be baptized to have salvation....Jesus told the thief on the cross, " Today, he would be with Him in Paradise", he wasn't baptized.
By the way I WAS BAPTIZED as a profession I was serving the Lord....not for my Salvation...
