A pastor said that the new testament tells us we don't have to pay our tithes my question is are we supposed to pay tithes

Virginia, In Num 18:26 outlines the tithing between the Israelites, Levites, and the LORD. one tenth of increase was foe tithing. Today we tithe on our earned income NET-after all bills have been paid. The tithe of old is our income taxes today, however one tenth is usually given to the church where you are taught. Retirement is already paid during your years of work. It is not income.

as a gentile or infidel in the new testament apostles and disciples argued circumcision for non-Jews out of all the burdens to be laid upon the greeks an gentiles, tithes and tithing was not one of them, we pay 1 10 of what we receive "freely" to give back that was so freely given, and that what you sow shall you also reap...Read old Tes. of what Abraham did to Melchisedec. that's what I follow...

ten percent and that is not open to discussion. it is very difficult in todays world to give ten percent, but the things we want to buy are dictated by communication devices around us. we don't know we don't have something until someone tells us.

We ought to obey God rather than man. Jesus came to fulfill the law, to satisfy the law requiring blood sacrifice for sins. He did not come to destroy the law. Should we throw out other principles that God gave man such as Thou shalt not lie, steal, commit murder, etc. The tithe was to honor God with the first fruits of all our time, talent and treasures. God gave to us, we should give back.

Giving ten percent to God was an Old Testament requirement by the Children of Israel. Read Mark 12:41-44. The Widow gave everything that she had to live off of - two small copper coins. Jesus informed his Disciples that she gave to the treasury more than the Wealthy did.
