Mark 15:42 suggests that Friday is that Jesus was crucified, hence the term 'good Friday'. If Friday is counted as day 1, Saturday day 2, and Sunday day 3 then it's on the 3rd day, rather than 'after' 3 days. There's an argument for Wednesday too as the day of crucifixion.
I hello I didn't go back and read but now I do remember that they wanted them dead before the Sabbath which was on a Saturday thank you for your help goodnight
Along the traditional reading preparation for sabbath happens on friday. Bible mentions that on friday Jesus died. See: John 19:31. It was a normal weekly preparation day for sabbath but also a yearly festival took place. By the evening soldiers made sure every one was dead at Golgata. Joseph of Arimathaea accompadied by Nicodemus took the body to the crave. On sunday morning the grave was empty.
