Joe ... The Word of God does not come out and say who these people are. Matthew, James and Judas Lebbaeus Thaddaeus are the sons of Alphaeus. Mark 2:14, Matthew 10:3 James and Judas are also The Lord s brothers. How can this be? These can only be both Jesus brothers and the sons of Alphaeus IF Mary married Alphaeus, who is Cleophas, which Mary DID! John 19:25

Ann - I read John 19:25 by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. as being 3 women Jesus's mother named Mary, his mother's sister also named Mary, and Mary Magdalena. The wife of Cleophas is Jesus's aunt not Jesus's mother.

Joe-There are 2 Mary s Mary and Mary called Magdalene, or Madeline. Mary was the wife of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene was Mary s sister. Mark 15:40, 15:47 tells the identity of the 2 Mary s.

It's possible because there can be more than one person named Judas or Thadeus. Do you not know many people named George? There is also another person in the Bible named Jesus. Look it up. Just because there is one instance of a person named Judas doesn't mean every person named Judas is the same person.

Randall... The point... Jesus chose his brothers to be his apostles. Cleophas and Alphaeus are the same person: Mary the wife of Cleophas or Alphaeus, was the mother of James, Simon and Thaddeus, and Joseph. Matthew 13:55 ... and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
