Big controversy, are Christians going through the tribulation or not. Chapter 2 of 2 Thessalonians says we are going through it. Read it carefully verse by verse and see if you can truly understand it. Pray first that the Lord will give you understanding and reveal His truth in this chapter. 1

So who is the restrainer that keeps the antichrist from coming right now? Cause the antichrist would have been here all along if it wasn't for the restrainer that God has put on the earth. So who is the restrainer?
  • Eric - In Reply on 2 Thessalonians 2 - 3 years ago
The restrainer was the Roman empire. That is why Paul in the letter does not say it but when he was with them in person, he did tell them who it was, read verse 5. And who came after the Roman empire? Who opposes the doctrine of God on earth and declares to have authority even over the Word of God, who declares to forgive sins when they are confessed to him, when only God can forgive our sins. Google the name Vicar of Christ and you will know.

So "the antichrist" has been here all along? If so, then why has he waited so long to reveal himself as the one true god to all of man? I don't believe he has been here all along. JMO
  • Eric - In Reply on 2 Thessalonians 2 - 3 years ago
Do not rely on JMO when it comes to the word of God, search the scriptures to find truth. The verses shared tell more than I would even write. If you follow Daniel's prophecy concerning the fourth kingdom in Daniel 7:18-26 and Revelation 13:1-9, then read the history, for prophecy fulfilled is history, you might get an understanding who the antichrist is. Read the history of what brought about the rise of protestantism and how Christians were persecuted and who did this.

Let us read who persecuted and killed Christ, the prophets and Christians.

Paul in 1 Thessalonians 2:14, 16 - For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, EVEN AS THEY HAVE OF THE JEWS: WHO BOTH KILLED THE LORD JESUS, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and THEY PLEASE NOT GOD, and are contrary to all men: Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: FOR THE WRATH IS COME UPON THEM TO THE UTTERMOST. (NOT ROME)

King James Bible book of John 5:16 - And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

John 5:18 - Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

John 7:1 - After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

Act 9:23 - And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him

Act 23:12 - And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

Act 26:21 - For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
  • Eric - In Reply on 2 Thessalonians 2 - 3 years ago
We are discussing of the antichrist that was to come as Paul wrote in 2 Thessalonians 2. This was long after Christ had died. And the Jews rejected Christ because they were expecting an earthly messiah who would deliver them from the Romans

The Bishop of Rome was declared the corrector of heretics by Justinian. By this the papacy slowly gained momentum and eventually had the power to even declare to be the one with sole authority to interpret the Bible. By this, it was able to replace the word of God with doctrines of men. Eg, children baptism, salvation by works, separation of body and soul after death etc.

Read about John Huss and Jerome, John Wycliffe, Martin Luther just to name a few.

What is the Bible definition of an ANTICHRIST

1 John 2:22 - Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. (ALL Jews deny Jesus and that makes them antichrist, if they believed in Jesus then they would be CHRISTIANS. IF you do not believe me call any Synagogue and ask them if Jesus is the Messiah.)

1 John 2:23 - Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

Who changed the laws of God to the laws of man first before Rome did? Remember that Pharisees were a major denomination of the Jews.

Mark Chapter 7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with [their] lips, but their heart is far from me.

7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.

teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.

8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, [as] the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

13 Making the word of God of none effect through your TRADITION tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Am glad you quoted that Bob, because on my second paragraph it shows that Rome teach doctrines of men and neglect the word of God. Like replacing Sabbath with Sunday, they claim it's a mark of their authority.

Baptism of Children, Christ sent His disciples to preach and that them that believe to be baptised, Matthew 28:19, so how can you preach to a toddler?

They teach that you are saved by works yet the Bible teaches that you are saved by grace, an example of this is the Scala Sancta, read about it.

The Pope calls himself Pontifex Maximus, the bridge builder. This title was used Emperors of ancient pagan Rome where they were worshipped as gods.

The part about the Sabbath day. Without question the Veil of the Temple was torn and without question the ability to enter now into the Holy of Holies, placing one's self on the Mercy Seat by Faith in the work of Jesus Christ at Calvary is entering into His Sabbath. All seven days while time remains.

The day of circumcision of heart is the new life in the Risen Christ, we must finish the course of this race without looking back.
  • Eric - In Reply on 2 Thessalonians 2 - 3 years ago
The curtain being torn meant that you did not need the earthly high priest to go to the throne of grace on your behalf. The Sanctuary was not for worshipping but for the atonement of sins. The priest was the mediator using the lamb's blood for atonement. But after Christ died, He become our High Priest not using a lamb's blood, but His own. This meant that the earthly sanctuary system had been abolished.

The Sabbath day was to let us rest and to remind us that God created all that is. Christ observed this day, Luke 4:16.

Paul who came after the curtain was torn, kept the Sabbath, Acts 13:14,42-44, 16:13, 17:2, 18:4. No where in the Bible is the Sabbath abolished.

    Read James 2:8-11.

    Carlton - Bravo and amen

    well written both comments
  • Eric - In Reply on 2 Thessalonians 2 - 3 years ago
The 10 commandments is a representation of God's character and not a burden. The Sabbath was a perpetual or an everlasting covenant between God and his children. It was there before sin, Genesis 2:1-3. By eliminating the Sabbath, you fail to acknowledge God as the creator. Because in the decalogue, He does not give any other reason for it's observance, other than that He created the heavens and earth and all that is in it, Exodus 20:8-11.

This is why you find that the evolution theory, big bang and the theory of natural selection are worldly accepted even in churches, and people believing that the world is billions of years old.

Jesus on the Cross at Calvary finished his work and entered into the Sabbath. It was only a little different for me because I was the guilty thief on the cross, but I saw the Lord's righteousness and I saw my sin and I judged myself worthy of death and wanted His Mercy seat. By faith and hope I cried in anguish to Jesus to save me in the cross. By his Grace he did. Together we entered the rest of the Sabbath. In the morning of the third day, I awoke with Him and laid aside my death clothes and walked with Him out of the tomb a new creature with a new Life. The condition of my heart had been torn from top to bottom and the same heart was clearly circumcised. Jesus directed me to his very own brethren that were meeting on this day.

Regarding Constantine- he combined the Church with the State- a grave and everlasting error.

Which commandments does Christ ask us to follow if we love Him and we are His friends, John 14:15,15:14? The rich young ruler who came to Christ seeking to know what he should do to gain eternal life, Christ read from the decalogue, Matthew 19:16-22. The only commandment the young ruler found hard to keep was loving God with all his heart, might, and soul, Deuteronomy 6:5 which even us find hard to keep. The human nature is of sin and what we do best is sin and doing good by God is something foreign to us, Romans 7:14-16, Read Romans chapter 7

Do you think that the ten commandments are supposed to be kept?

Is there anywhere in the Bible where you find the doctrine you have upheld?
