    Mark 3:25-27 "Strong man's house"

" No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house."

Of whose house are we? " But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." (He.3:6).One whose hope is firm to the end and works are done in faith cannot be a weak vessel. He is instead an overcomer" Jesus Christ has overcome the world and abiding in him all things are possible because he has promised and we know all promiseds of God are yea in his Son. If we have the Son we have the Father as well.

The verse speaks of anyone who serves God and mammon; like Samson there comes a point in his life that he gets taken like the dumb beast for the slaughter-house. "And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him."(Ju.16:20)

Parable of Jesus tells how the unclean spirit spoils his house.

"When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none./ Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished./Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation." (Matt.12:43-45)

When Jesus sent his disciples he authorized them to cast out demons. "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease."(Matt.10:1) Jesus was among them as a sign; so are believers whose lives identify with it. "And these signs shall follow them,"(16:17). 'In my name'

    Matt.19:30 "First and the last"

"But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

As a literary motif we have the Spirit using a chiastic pattern, very similar to fractal design the visual motif self repeating not at random but as part of the whole retaining the harmony in idea and execution. Jesus the deity and the man is in focus.

The key verse is a classic example and it is apt considering Jesus Christ is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. " For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."( Matt.16:25) 'for my name's sake places emphasis on on the word, (Sanctify them through thy truth. Thy word is truth') and the man, the word that became flesh.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever proved the point by his resurrection. He became in the likeness of flesh and tasted death but by the power of his Father overcame death and is seated on the right hand of God. So the idea and the man validates the glory of God in this earthen vessel.

As examples we shall consider two. "for of such is the kingdom of heaven." refers to a specific loss in order to be considered fit for his kingdom. "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." (18:3)

It explains the phantom limb sensation. Patients losing a limb due to disease or accidence shall still feel as though it is there. One is rid of his life experience and assuredness of riches for his sake and yet to feel the sense of heaven as a phantom limb is real. "I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need." (Ep.4:12) Second is regarding the young man was all willing but his great possessions prevented him. (19:16-23). His case was like the alien hand syndrome one hand wants to do the opposite of what other hand seeks. The devil is in the flesh.

    Matt.5: 17 "Doctrine of God"

" Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

We shall examine one saying of Jesus why Evangelist Matthew set the Sermon on the mount against a mountain ("he went up into a mountain) while St Luke has it delivered on the plains. "And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases." ( Luke 6:17). Matthew also gives the same ministry of healing in 4:23-25. God sent his word and healed them for their destructions (Ps.107:20) is established in Jesus Christ as the word become flesh. The Law of Moses did not heal and the great multitude came there to be healed and it proves that he came indeed from God. St Matthew sets the mountain as the holy mountain of God ("in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it"-Is.2:2-3). Jesus announced that he came to fulfill the law and the prophets. So we need take the world of the Spirit as well as the word of the body as one. Abiding in Christ is to walk by faith since his body is that of spiritual body is according to the promise of God in the above mentioned quote from the psalm. Whosoever has died to sin and is hid in Christ must believe he has a building of God eternal in heavens.

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:/ But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also."(5:38-39)

You suffer in this world for righteousness sake because your reward comes from heaven. Without taking both worlds as one doctrine of God is made to none effect

    John 5: 2-9 "Diseases"

"He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."(Ps.107:20). Here we have the complete will of God the Father. By healing the sick and demon-possessed Jesus was not working miracles but fulfilling the will of his Father.

At Bethesda we see an instance where the angel fulfills the office of the word. "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had." Jesus did not have to ask the helpless man to step in the pool. He simply fulfilled the divine Will.

    Now the text:

"Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches./ In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water./For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had./And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years./ When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?/ The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me./Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk./And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked."

The Spirit qualifies God as Jehovah Rapha. But fall of man rendered man's labor wasted; his ground tainted and the climate maleficent. His sin causing collateral damage and all the poison man pumps as weedkillers affect even the sexuality of mankind(DNA of Male brains found in female brain.etc.,) are manifestations of our world. For those who trust in the word of God should believe God as the healer.

"Song of Ascents" under the entry D- degrees (1 of 2)

A title given to fifteen psalms from 120 to 134 inclusive of which four are attributed to King David and one to his son Solomon. There were three appointed feasts namely Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles. By tradition pilgrims expressing their joy in going up to Jerusalem would have sung. There are 15 songs in this series and each psalm may correspond to the step leading a pilgrim.

Historically the children of Israel showed that they moved on their bellies in the wilderness. How often did they grumble against Moses and Aaron? (Ex.16:3) They would have stoned them and they despised manna, which God gave. He fed them with angel's food. Yet what was their cry? "And said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?"(Nu.11:4-5) God sent them quails, which gives us a revealing glimpse as to why they stopped short from doing the commandments with their heart and soul. Their rebellious spirit brought cancer to their souls since they would not worship God, a Spirit in spirit and truth. "And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.(106:15). A wasting disease nevertheless.

These are examples and left for 'our admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come'. In short the Spirit warns us to search our hearts well as we are pilgrims and sojourners even as they. The Spirit of Christ revealed to Prophet Elisha what motivated his servant, "And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man (Naaman) turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive-yards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? (2 Ki.5:26)

" For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation./ This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it."/

    The True Gospel (part 3)

Christ did not make atonement for sin to give us whole bodies, as many teach. That will only take place at the resurrection of the last day when we shall instantly be changed from corruption to incorruption, and from mortal to immortal. Our present bodies are fashioned from the dust of the ground and shall return to the dust. When mankind fell into sin, God cursed the ground from which man was formed. Surely, it can be said, if Christ died to give us physical health or physical healing, then the gospel is an abject failure, because each and every day, approximately 150,000 people on average die all over the world. They die for a variety of reasons, most of which relate to physical disease of one form or another. If they became a true child of God, are they prevented from physically dying? No. If someone who is sick becomes well again, is the faith of that person what healed him? God can heal, but God can heal in the life of one who is not saved just as quickly as one who is saved. The emphasis of the gospel is on the spiritual, not the physical. The believers who have experienced the first resurrection, namely the resurrection of their sin-sick souls, shall receive a brand new incorruptible spiritual body at the last day.

When Christ and the apostles performed miracles and healed the sick and gave sight to the blind, those were physical portraits pointing to some spiritual aspect. Once Christ went back to heaven and the apostles died, any miracles of that kind ceased. When Christ healed the sick, he did so to demonstrate that he has power on earth to forgive sins.

Matthew 9 (see also Mark 2:10; Luke 5:24)

6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

    Ze.14:18-21 (3 of 3)

    "Worship the Lord"

/And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it."(Re.21:23-26).

God gave freely indwelling Spirit so we are in high places already when we revere 'Christ in us' by faith. What prevents a Christian from worshipping him in Spirit and truth? It is a kind of Alzheimer's disease, spiritually affecting him trapping in the unrealistic world-view so glory of wealth, praise of men pomp and circumstance seem as true. The ungodly leaders of man are affected as Christians whose reasonable faculties do play hopscotch with reality. Those patriots who cry 'Remember 1776' do not remember all those social injustices brought forward with impunity since then, have dug trenches so nothing short of total overhaul is going to remedy the situation. The plague mentioned in the v.12 is a nuclear holocaust before we shall have a government of Righteousness.

18And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith theLordwill smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles./This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Significance of the third of the great annual festivals of the Jews is to usher in the Day of Regeneration after the harvest of souls. At this point let us keep the passage quoted from the Parable of the Tares in mind. "But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them./Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn".(Matt.13:29-30). Nothing that offends shall be allowed in.

Harvest signals the ingathering of saints redeemed from the earth, which as we have said earlier, has its own order.

Hi David0921. Just to touch on some of the points in your recent several comments.

Referring to Romans 3: Yes, it is a chapter of mankind's sinful condition, hence it was not written TO ALL mankind, but ABOUT ALL mankind. So, if all mankind lies in sin, how does God seek to remedy that disease? We know that it can only be through Christ, but where we differ is that you believe that Christ's Blood availed for those OT sinners while they were still alive. My belief: that Christ's Blood availed for them & us, ONLY after the payment for sin was completed.

Hades. 1 Corinthians 15:55 only speaks about 'death & the grave'. Looking at the Greek, for both those words, 'thanatos' is given & not Hades. So 'death & the grave' are understood as only that: 'death as confined to the grave'; no Hades here, a word which refers to an actual hell of spiritual confinement.

Then to the passages I shared, to which you wrote that 'none of them support OT believers going to a place called Hades at death'. For sure, most of those references just spoke about a very real place called Hades, to which I was drawing your attention to the fact that there is a name Hades. But when Jesus spoke of Abraham & Lazarus also being there, this is where "we (must) compare scripture with scripture using the principles that God lays down in His Word" (your quote). If we then disregard Luke 16:19-31 in its entirety, then we do great disservice to God's Word & our understanding of (for example, Hades) then becomes skewed. Onto Page 2.

    Jema,

Thanks for sharing this. It was a miracle. Cancer doesn't just go away like that when it is so advanced. Our bodies don't heal themselves to eradicate cancer in that way, as David is implying. God supernaturally took the cancer from this person, just as He supernaturally took Hep C from my friend's body without treatment for it in a matter of a month or so. We should certainly give the LORD the praise for all ways He brings healing to us, but when He does miracles such as this, we do need to testify to it. When Jesus healed people miraculously in the Bible, the people at that time did not have all the information about how disease works or how our bodies heal, just like today, as David stated. But regardless of what they knew or we know, He performed miracles then and today in specific circumstance but not in all circumstances. The decision to do a miracle is in His hands, not ours. We can pray for such healing miracles, especially when it seems everything tried has failed. It is always a good thing when He does heal miraculously. These are treasures to us who experience them in ourselves or in those who know and love. I ask, why wouldn't God continue to do miracles after the time of the apostles? He has been doing miracles since the beginning of creation. There is no reason for Him to stop acting miraculously, as Scripture does not say that He will stop doing so.

When it comes to dreams and visions, Acts 2:17-18 speaks of the prophecy from Joel being fulfilled in the latter days, which began with Jesus' birth (Simeon and Zachariah prophesied, John prophesied) and continued through the time of Acts and life of John and some of the early believers in the first century (Philips translation from one place to another) and we are still in the latter days up to now because Christ has not come again to judge the living and the dead yet. I think we can expect miracles, dreams and visions and any of the other ways God has acted in the lives of humans until the end.

    Jema,

    Thank you for your comment.

Let me say right up front that I have no doubt God was active in the healing of your cousin. Just as God is active when any of us are healed of a sickness or a disease.

But when we look at the true miracles that we read about in the Bible, God is clearly setting aside the physical laws by which He governs the Universe. When God created the world He was actually at the same time establishing those physical laws. When Jesus walked on the water He actually set aside the law of gravity. When Jesus instantly healed the blind and the sick and the lame He was not using the natural processes that work in our bodies. And when He raised Lazarus from the dead, and other the miracles we read about in the Bible; these were all true miracles.

And incidentally, they were performed and included in the Bible as "historical parables" teaching us some aspect of the nature of salvation itself.

As I indicated in my comment to GiGi, there are many many things about the physical laws of nature, including our bodies and medicine that we don't understand, and have come to understand a little bit over time but certainty not completely; like electricity, like radio and TV, like the internet, like nuclear power, like medicine, etc. These things are not miracles; but several hundred years ago they would have seemed so.

So the fact that we witness an event that we cannot explain does not make it a miracle.

And I am quite certain that was the case with your cousin. And you are certainly correct in giving God all of the credit and glory for His recovery.

Also I would not put any stock in the Mormon religion as it is certainly a gospel that looks beyond the Bible for Devine Revelation.

    Respectfully,

    David
  • David0921 - In Reply - 8 months ago
    GiGi,

It is God that must work in the understanding of the True Believer to reveal Truth from the Bible. And God is certainly the one that opens doors for the True Gospel to go forth. And He also works in the lives of True Believers to direct them by causing various circumstances to develop in their lives, sometime as chastisement. These things are Very Different from receiving Devine Revelation from God as occurred before the Bible was completed.

As far as miracles are concerned, we must first define what a miracle is. When God created the world, when Jesus walked on water, when Jesus healed miraculously, i.e. any Miracle at all IS when God sets aside the physical laws by which He governs the Universe. God is not doing this today.

Any time anyone becomes healed from a sickness or a disease, it is God at work. But it is not a Miracle. Mankind does not understand all of the workings of the human body nor the affects of medicines. Healings of our day may seem miraculous, but they are not. They are God at work through the natural laws and processes He has established to govern the world and our well being.

There is one very specific Miracle that God has performed throughout time and is still performing today. And that is the Miracle of Salvation where God creates a New Resurrected Soul within each person that becomes saved. That is becoming Born Again.

So, GiGi, it really comes down to: What is the "Word" of God that we are following and that is our Authority? Is it the Bible Alone and in its Entirety; or is it the Bible plus a dream or a vision or a voice or a tongue that we believe we have received directly from God. We cannot have it both ways.

And I believe that God insists on the former and warns against the latter. And that is why we have Revelation 22:18,19 at the very end of the Bible.

Further thoughts on Luke 15 and parable of the Prodigal son and the lost sheep of the 99.

As believers we can truly have Godly sorrow that leads to repentance ( 2 Cor. 7:10). Such is the case with a new believer; but parables such as these show how we should continue as His sheep to live with such a love for our heavenly Father.

The primary point I wish to emphasize here is how a man's heart can harden to the point where a conscience is seared; hence beyond hope (1 Timoty 4:2). This is serious business; and we see it with professing believers and the world alike. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 gives us a list of the unrepentant sins; more specifically lifestyles which will end up with the sinner in hell. When sin happens it needs to be acknowledged as such; a personal offense to God; other people we know and society at large particularly in the categories of sexual sin; or mental and physical attacks on others. The man who covers up his sins ( Proverbs 28:13 will not prosper; therefore the verse states we should confess in order to obtain mercy. Somehow as believers it seems like it is a one time thing many times to ask for mercy; to beg for forgiveness or to seriously consider how tender His mercies truly are.

Consider Lamentations 3:22-23. In the midst of the most harrowing; graphically detailed description of God's city of Jerusalem being overcome by famine; disease and war we see this statement showing that God still holds out mercy; despite most of these calamities being a result of deliberate sins warned against by the prophets for many years. The parable in Luke 15 in regard to the older brother is almost the opposite scenario; someone who has an abundance of material wealth and still complains as to his father's forgiveness of his younger brother. This goes to show that spiritual blessings are not dependant on material wealth; and when we have success financially it isn't necessarily appreciated if we have a godless spiritual existance.

Further discussion on children and destruction in scriptures

God has no joy in the destruction of the wicked. ( Ezekiel 18:23; 33:11). So He also; by default would have none in the death of the innocent.

Continuing on the theme of such calls for death of everyone; we cannot ignore the child sacrifice that was so prevalent in the nations surrounding Israel. Thus; it is certainly plausable that these children would have died a far worse and more tortuous death if they had been allowed to live in that manner. It is also possible that God has chosen to save some who He knew otherwise would take up Pagan customs themselves and more innocent life should they be allowed to live to adulthood. Such postulations are hardly satisfactory or certainly not enjoyable as some sort of curiousity or mystery. These hard verses cannot always be ignored either; even if we cannot understand; we trust God has some plan or purpose for it; just has He does for famines; wars; disease; etc that take innocent lives every day.

We can gain some wisdom when we look at God's chastisements of Israel itself such as in Lamentations. Such evils were worse as described in that book for those who endured the famine; ate their own children; etc then dying in battle ( Lamentations 4:9).

Warnings of curses and horrible results are spelled out in Deuteronomy; and we need to see the progress in a society as it breaks down (just look around today). The Prophet Jeremiah known as the "weeping prophet" as well as others were in great anguish seeing visions of the destruction to come.

We also need to look at situations such as with Rahab. (Joshua chapter 2). Proper respect and fear of God along with proper action with God's people was able to procure favor in the coming invasion; for her and her entire immediate family. She also later was an important part of the descendants of Israel. This shows repentance and along with others in scripture; a decision to become one of God's people.

First off; we have verses such as 1 John 1:8-10 which makes it pretty clear that none of us are without sin. That would be in reference to the old man and body which still have the capability or potential of sin; much like Adam did before he fell in Eden.

We need to differentiate between the inner man; or our hearts and our actions; which express what is going on within us. It is much like a disease which may be present before anyone can diagnose it. The act of sin is a process that starts with allowing our minds to consider something ungodly; and as believers that often is associated with thoughts from Satan or his minions influencing us (such as in Matthew 16:23). In that case we see how what would seem like the best humanitarian approach to a close friend protecting another was against God's greater purposes; which may in Peter's logic have seemed like righteous indignation. Instead; it betrayed his own blindness toward what Christ had repeatedly predicted and was being ignorant of what the Spirit had recently revealed to him about Christ being Lord and Savior. Weaknesses can therefore be either used for God's glory ( 2 Corinthians 12:10) as stated by Paul; or something that can be a repeated snare; as seen by Peter's boasting that he would even die for Christ ( John 13:37). This illustrates once again how we must never lean to our own understanding or strength in boasting.

Sanctification therefore continually transforms us as we mature in the faith. We are operating in forgiveness for all sins; past present and future IF truly saved. That is crucial for when we do sin we must ask forgiveness ( 1 John 2;1-2); and be restored; reclaiming our blood bought standing. If there is a lifestyle of sin which would mean deliberate repeated actions without any remorse it is evidence that there is no contention between the Spirit and flesh ( Gal. 5:17) and salvation can be questioned. Restoration is only possible if we are truly children of God.

Hi John. This whole section (from Matthew chapter 5 to chapter 7) were instructional words spoken by Jesus to his disciples (not just those 12 closest to Him, but to all those who were following Him at that time).

The passage you're enquiring, begins & includes Matthew 7:15-20. When you read it as a specific section, you will see who Jesus was referring to. It was to the false prophets. He said that you will easily recognize them by their fruits (the words they spoke & the lives they lived, all the while looking like docile humble sheep). Then Jesus explains this further by considering the fruit-producing tree. The tree that is corrupt (whether it has some disease in it, or malnourished) is bound to produce ugly unhealthy fruit, if at all. But the tree that is well-formed, well-fertilized, & well-cared for, can only produce good fruit. Likewise, these false prophets/teachers were corrupt trees producing inedible disgusting fruit, ready only for burning. So, the disciples were warned to carefully observe such men who come proclaiming God's Word - their words & life will reveal that they were imposters & to be shunned.

And the same could be said about people who claim to belong to Christ (Christians) but produce bad fruit in their lives. The Lord knows who belong to Him, but we need to also be wise to discern (from understanding God's Word), who are false prophets/teachers. All such the Lord has no knowledge of - they will suffer just as those who reject God's Love in Christ His Son. But John, I know from what you write, that you really love the Lord & trusting Him each day for your needs. So from your life, however difficult it may be, you will produce fruit & I'm sure it would be the 'good fruit' - fruit that expresses real love & faith, care & concern for someone else in difficulties, even getting beside another lonely person & sharing something of God's concern & love for them. These are all good fruit, which a corrupt tree cannot produce. Blessings.

    Numbers chapter 5

    This chapter has several sections:

What to do with those who have become unclean from diseases such as leprosy or an issue of blood or issue from a skin disease, from touching one who is dead. These people are to camp outside of the whole camp of Israelites until they are determined to be clean by the priest and the Law God gave concerning such uncleanness.

Section two speaks about what men and women are to do when they commit a sin. They are to confess their sin, either to God, to the one they offended, or to the priest. They are to recompense their trespass by an increase of one-fifth the worth of the damage of the trespass. If the person offended against is not alive or has a kinsmen, then the recompense is to be made to the LORD through the priest.

Section three speaks of voluntary offerings made by the people. Whatever thingof value a person wishes to offer to the Lord shall be given to the priest and the priest will now possess it.

The other section speaks about what is to be done when a husband suspects his wife of committing adultery, even though their is no concrete proof. He is to bring to the priest a jealousy offering to the priest along with his wife. The priest is to burn some of the jealousy offering on the altar. The priest will bring the wife before the LORD and she shall drink the potion that the priest creates from holy water and dust from the floor of the tabernacle. Then the priest will charge the woman with the accusation of adultery and she will drink the bitter water prepared. If she is guilty, her belly shall swell and thighs rot. If not guilty she will be unaffected by the bitter water and will continue to be able to bear children.

It seems that if the woman is guilty, she will have some sort of infection in her bowels or uterus that will cause he great discomfort and cause her to have a foul issue, either from her bowel or from her uterus. This is may be some sort of disease that prevents the pregnancy....cont.

Walking in the Spirit (part 6) continuation discerning spirit of truth vs error

All the previous section was focused on suffering for Christ's sake. Many today seem to forget the scriptures that state ALL who live Godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution ( 2 Tim. 3:12) and other verses stating that He "chastises all those He loves" ( Heb. 12:6). Those who aren't are said to be illegitimate children. In discerning truth from error; we see how few of the so called "prophets" today make such declarations as Agabus who predicted both imprisonment of Paul and a famine; or that of Christ to Peter on his eventual capture and implied martyrdom. ( John 21:18). We have had certain prominent individuals stating that another prominent one would suffer some malady because of the so called "not touching the anointed prophets" ( Psalm 105:15).

Again I will leave names out here; some things are just too ridiculous to get into anyway. What is certain is that bad news; whether that of the state of churches in Revelation 2; or that of the Prophets of old such as Isaiah; Ezekiel and Jeremiah who weren't exactly winning any popularity contests when time and time again they warned of judgment to come for specific sins is something heard very little today; and no wonder. Everyone wants their ears tickled with what they want to hear; what is the most popular or "politically correct" advice among the crowd of "professing" believers.

When the cure is worse than the disease; those who are of the truth will not be satisfied with a band-aid approach. This earth is not our home; and we should live this life accordingly.

Therefore; when we are in fellowship we should seek to be around those who are truly Spirit filled as well as run away from where the spirit of error is. We are to be "set apart" for His use ( 1 Thess. 4:7). What is refreshing in being hot or cold is that it alleviates any confusion or compromise of assimilation with those in the world ( 1 Peter 2:9-10).

Who is the brethren in ( Eph 6:10)? Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. ( Eph 6:11-12) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to (stand) against the (wiles) of the devil. The word (stand) is #2476; it means to stand, abide, continue. (The word (wiles) is #3180; it means "method" travelling over, i.e. travesty (trickery) wile, lie in wait. These brethren are told to stand or continue against the trickery of the devil. When is the devil cast to the earth? During great tribulation! v12 Tells us "For ((we)) wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Do you think the ((we)) Paul is speaking of in this verse is non-believers that are wrestling against all these evil forces? I don't think so either! ( Eph 6:13-14) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to (withstand) in the (evil) day, and having done all, to stand. The word (withstand) is #436; it means to stand against, i.e. oppose, resist. Do you think Paul is telling non-believers to stand against and oppose, resist the devil in the evil day? I don't think so either! The word (evil) is #4190; it means hurtful i.e. evil, properly in effect or influence, calamitous, diseased, vicious, the devil, grevious, wicked (-ness). This evil day would no doubt be great tribulation when the devil will be in power over the world. ( Eph 6:15-17) v16 Tells us to take the shield of faith, so we can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Would Paul be telling non-believers to take the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked? I don't think so either! v17 Tells us to take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. These verses are spoken to the ((brethren, Believers in Christ)), and they tell us its the evil day which is the time of the devil, great tribulation! Blessings

    Hello, Asafo,

Rev. 21:5 And He that sat upon the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new."

I won't be until the return of Jesus on the Last Day that we will receive our full redemption. We will be made new again through the resurrection or translation of our bodies. When that happens, we will never again know sorrow, pain, affliction, persecution, anguish. Jesus will destroy the heavens and the earth and make new heavens and a new earth.

In John 16:33 Jesus says, " In this world ye shall have tribulation: But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

Jesus said that this life will be full of troubles. Some due to sin and the corruption of this world: hardships, diseases, etc. And others due to persecution and sufferings because we believe in Jesus and belong to Him.

We can know that the sufferings we experience in this life are intended to perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us in the one true faith that is in Jesus. 1 Peter 5 10

1 Peter 4:12-16 speaks of the our attitude in suffering and trials. We should not be surprised when it happens, rather rejoice and glorify God in our trials.

Asafo, this life is a fallen life. it is marked by our own sinful nature and that of every other person. The world is corrupted because of man's sin. Therefore, God allows things to happen in the lives of Christians to test us and build us up to be able to stand firm under trial and tribulation. One day we may have to face death for our faith in Jesus. We can see our temporary sufferings at the present preparing us to stand in the last days, if we live to be in that time of great Tribulation and apostasy that will come before Christ returns for us ( 2 Thessalonians 2)

But we look forward to the inheritance of eternal life and the full redemption of our body, soul, and spirit in the day of the Lord Jesus.

When He comes to receive us to Him, He will then bring the wrath of God upon the wicked and the corrupted earth. Believers will be not suffer this wrath.

Psalm 88. Probably the most depressing passage in all scripture as to a personal viewpoint of experience in this life. This certainly reminds us of the book of Job. (see Job 30:15 in particular).

Verse 4 seems to indicate that this person is near unto death and is further supported by verse 6 where it seems the pit of Sheol is nigh. We see that those in that state are "cut off from thy hand" therefore there is no more mercy from God at that point. We are reminded of Isaiah 38:18 and many other passages which show that the dead will not praise God (verse 10). Furthermore; destruction and forgetfulness also describe the fate of those in hell (verse 11-12). Those things which affected our emotions and desires on earth ( Ecclesiastes 9:5) will not exist as the body returns to the dust. However; the soul lives on and for the unregenerate in conscious torment (see Lazarus and the unnamed rich man ( Luke 16:19-31).

Nonetheless; we must seek His face while He can be found. Job's state wasn't hopeless; and neither is anyone in Christ who truly repents and seeks the Lord. The enemy certainly can have us ensnared in sin; or oppressing us with feelings of hopelessness. We need to confess sin and seek His face; as well as trusting His promises despite circumstances. That is good advice surely in war; famine and other horrendous circumstances that bring us near death as well as seeing death all around us. These passages should remind us to seek those who may be disfigured by disease and to demonstrate God's love through service wherever we can.

Agree with GiGi here. This is not at all well written Alex. You get to explain a little better.

When Jesus was here on Earth, He was not bound. The Holy Spirit was bound to Jesus. Because He Himself says. It is for your benefit that I pass away. Then He will send the Comforter to us. Thru? John 16:7

What He had to do was to be obedient to Our Father God. Don't you think Jesus suffered during His time here on earth? In Gethsemane just before He was captured. Prayed He so earnestly that He sweated blood. Mark 14:35-36 Luke 22:44 Those Jews who are not in Israel but scattered around the times of World War II and before it. These were collected at least in Europe as the attackers made ghettos. All of these had free will to accept Jesus. And get the Holy Spirit. Just like us these days. So neither you nor I know if it was right Jesus saved people in the concentration camps. It's entirely possible it was. Yet they praised the Lord in their hearts, minds, and bodies. Even though hunger took them and famine was in the midst of those with diseases and worse, they had their faith in God. The Jews are God's people and have never lost sight of God. It is also why we should pray for them, pray for peace, and so on. It is our duty Alex. Our ministry is actually preaching the gospel also to Jews and not always just other Gentiles.

If it hadn't been for the Jews, we wouldn't have gotten the Bible, the Word that came alive to us. Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ who managed to be obedient all His days! Hallelujah Amen. Thank you dear Jesus, And not just a man but one who also overcame death! Hence Christ.

Hope you can figure this out and not spread falsehoods in here on the web. Jesus himself spoke of the wheat. The wheat is the best grain true. There we can get nice good bread. Making beautiful cakes and biscuits. Sauces and porridges. Maybe even get fat. Matthew 13

Please Repent and come back to the truth. Luke 1 chapter. Stay strong in the word of God and never give up. gbu

    Hello Michael,

God does not promise there will not be any sickness in the lives of the believer. He also does not say that if we pray we get whatever we ask for "if we have faith."

What God does say is that He will never leave us nor forsake us and that His Grace is sufficient. He also says that anything that we ask that is IN His will He will answer.

Something we as mankind fail to be able to see is the entire picture, His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Mankind's sinful condition causes many different effects on our bodies, God causes certain things to happen in life for His Glory and for the help of mankind.

I understand that in our finite minds, we often fail to see sickness, disease, and even death as a blessing from God. However, let me ask you this, How many times does tragedy strike and changes our outlook toward God the Father?

These are what I call "crossroads" in our life. We either choose to walk into our faith and ask God what He is trying to show us OR we get bitter and angry at God (because we cannot see the entire picture of what and why God is doing) and we turn towards the world. (with this comes a whirlwind of darkness and loneliness)

Becoming healed at the hand of God is not dependent upon our level of faith but, dependent upon if it is in God's plan for whomever to be healed.

I knew a sweet lady of God that was diagnosed with cancer. She took treatments and according to the doctors, cancer appeared to be in remission. Just weeks later she passed on to be with the Lord. This dear lady was a faithful woman of God. It was simply in God's plan for her to go home to be with the Lord.

Our bodies dying in this world is a given due to our sin condition, we cannot stop it no matter how hard we try! It is appointed unto man once to die, we do not know when that will be or how that will be. But God makes no mistakes. Even in our sickness, God's Grace is sufficient and we should never question His plan

I have a question that confused me. I am a protestant. I have been to the church for routine for more than ten years. I saw a lot of events from the church. It is written Jesus heals all manners of sickness and disease. But I saw a sister, she was a junior school teacher. Unfortunately, she got a disease, and she was the music worship group membership. But her disease hasn't recovered. Finally, she leaves us in her fourties. So, Jesus healing us if we believe him. But can I say if the people haven't been healed them are not believe the Jesus.

    Teresa,

As Sammi said, people cause much of the suffering by our mistreatment of others and ourselves.

But, like the earthquake in Turkey/Syria and many illnesses that people can acquire, it is God who allows the suffering from these "natural" disasters and diseases. He created the viruses, bacteria, etc. that have plagued mankind since the fall. He created the earth's topography both above and below ground and changes that cause earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc.

Satan likes to afflict people as well, which God allows. Job is an example of that.

Leviticus Chapter 26- We are not our own, we've been bought at a price. 1 Corinthians 6:20

The Israelites were bought by God with the same price that we have been bought-the precious blood of Christ. So, since both Israel and Christians are bonded to God in a covenant of the blood of Christ, we should take heed that we walk in the way of God, for the blessings of God are manifold, not just for this life, but especially in the life to come. God's chosen people have an inheritance waiting in heaven that is beyond what we could ask or think. Nothing on earth compares to what God has in store for us! It is this eternal inheritance that caused God to call the Israelites sojourners as well as us. We are all looking forward to that better heavenly country. Heb 11:16; Rom. 9:22-23; Eph. 2:4-7

To live in the blessing of God is the best place to be altogether. Disobedience severs one from the blessing God desires for us and can bring many unpleasant and treacherous things to befall one who take lightly God's command for o44bedience and presumes upon the covenant promised to those chosen.

Verses 14-44 itemizes a long list of curses for disobedience. These consequences increase in severity (7 times over) with each step of discipline that God would bring upon the Israelites until they repent.

First, terror and wasting diseases will come upon them

Next, others will eat of the seed they sow. These enemies will defeat them in battle. They will be reigned over by those who hate them.

If they did not repent, God would punish them 7 times more for their sin.

He will break their pride of their power

He will make the heavens like iron and the earth like bronze so that the fields sown will not get watered from rain nor will the soil yield to the growth of a seed and be too hard for the plants to live. The trees will not yield fruit.

Then, if they do not repent, he will increase the punishment 7 times more.

He will cause more plagues to come upon them.

    Hi again, Richard,

I agree that we it is wise to prepare for what may be hardships that may come to us (perhaps very soon). I have taken up canning again for this purpose and hope to do food hydrating next harvest. I am praying for the Holy Spirit to guide me on this matter, as I do not think it is wise to go deeply into "prepping". My goal is to have enough food stored and available to get me through for quite awhile and still have some to share with other. Also, because I take medications for ongoing health problems, I am getting my refills as often as I can so that I will have a supply in case I cannot access health care in hardship times. Also, I have stocked up on first aid supplies. I try to have a good supply of sundries (t.p., paper towels, cleaners, etc) so that I can do what will be needed to clean up and prevent illness.

Another good idea is to stock up on blankets from local thrift shops and store these to have to give to others should we not have power for a while to keep warm. The other things I am acquiring a good supply of is alternative fuel for camp stoves, grills, and BBQ briquettes or wood for outdoor fires for cooking.

I am sure that others may have good ideas also, I would love to hear them. But overarching all of this is our reliance should be on God. The Israelites fled Egypt without a lot of things. God feed them manna and quail in the wilderness and healed their diseases. He kept them safe from enemies and wild animals. He dwelt in their midst in the Tabernacle. He is still the same today. We can be sure that He will do what is right for us at any time. So, we must live by faith. But being prepared for hardship is not a lack of faith, just wise planning. We do not know what God will ask of us as far as witnessing and helping others when such times come.
