Discuss Revelation 10

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. ( Revelation 10:7).

This appears to be a time period that goes from the Rapture of the church to the end of the firstfruits; which includes the 144,000 as well as the two prophets. To gain further insight on the timing involved in the martyrdom and translation from the dead of these individuals we read this extended section from Revelation 11.

7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city-which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt-where also their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.

11 But after the three and a half days the breath[b] of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.

13 At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

14 The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon.

This verse shows us the TIMING of this event as after the SECOND WOE (6th Trumpet) and before the 7th Trumpet which basically involves the final cluster of 7 bowl judgments. Many things happen simultaneously at this point in scripture; Antichrist invades the Temple; the prophets die and are raised and the mark of the beast.

    Sister Jema:

John the Baptist was called from the foundation of the world to be the forerunner of Christ, your called to be his wife.

John had everything he needed to dwell in the wilderness, a coat of camels hair, and locust to eat.

    Jesus SAID:

Luke 7:28 .... among those that are born among women there is not a GREATER PROPHET than John the Baptist, be he that is LEAST in the Kingdom of God is a GREATER (prophet) than he.

Revelation 10:11 .... thou (you) must PROPHESY AGAIN before many people, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Your calling is to be a JUDGE, along the side, of your husband Christ , when he resurrects the dead back to life.

Just as God told Gideon, you only need a FEW to destroy the Midianites, he is ONLY calling out a FEW to be JUDGES with him, and they together will DESTROY the carnal mind of those resurrected back from the dead.

They will BE JUDGED by God's word, just as we are judged by God's word.

Proverbs 16:6 .... by MERCY and TRUTH, iniquity is purged .......

God BLESS YOU as SPIRIT declares his truth to us.

    AMEN Sister Jema:

We are the third heaven, where God dwells, the third heaven, the (literal) body of Christ, the third heaven, Christ in the flesh the second time, the NEW heaven, the third heaven, the Kingdom on God on earth.

Revelation is symbolic, the 1000 year reign, is symbolic of ONE DAY, the Day of the Lord, when all flesh was raised AS ONE FLESH, the flesh and bone of Christ.

This ONE DAY, has been on earth now for 2000 years, and will never be anywhere but on earth.

At present, we are the (literal) body of Christ, when harvested, we will still be the (literal) body of Christ, BUT, in the twinkling of an eye, switch bodies: we will be given HIS RESURRECTED body, our flesh and blood body cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.

1000 years has and end, the DAY of the Lord has no end, everytime the clock shows 11:59:59 PM, the next tick becomes TODAY, the Day of the LORD, world without end, TODAY, the DAY of SALVATION.

We were promised where Christ is: WE WILL BE ALSO, Christ is in man, omnipresent, as the spirit of truth, bring man into the TRUTH and KNOWLEDGE of Kingdom of God.

Revelation 10:11 .... Thou must prophecy AGAIN before many peoples, and nation, and tongues, and kings.

Jacobs ladder, in Genesis, is symbolic of the harvested SEED ascending and descending on Christ.

John 1:51 ... I say unto you, HEREAFTER ye shall see (the third) heaven OPEN, and the angels of God (ministering spirit) ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.

    God BLESS YOU!

    Brother Giannis:

May I add a little bit of my understanding to your understanding, which are parallel to each other.

We are taught by God, the Spirit of truth and life that gives us existence.

God is Spirit, invisible, yet he wants to be known and seen, so he created a BODY, and he called that MAN Christ (Adam) the beginning of creation.

Through that MAN, Christ. he does ALL THE WORKS of the Almighty God, so truth and life CAN BE SEEN.

Christ can appear in a body of flesh, or he can be the SPIRIT of prophecy, he is omnipresent as is his Father.

We cannot exist without the SPIRIT of God, through Christ, giving us LIFE, just as Christ, a BODY, cannot exist without the Spirit of his Father giving him LIFE.

Christ commended HIS Spirit, the Spirit of HIS Father back to God who gave him LIFE, thus his body DIED on the cross, for the SALVATION of God's creation.

When God put his Spirit back into Christ he RESURRECTED all creation ANEW, the IMAGE of GOD, the body of Christ.

When we are MATURE in the TRUTH and LIFE of God, Christ will sent his angels to harvest us, in the twinkling of an eye we will PUT ON CHRIST, the express IMAGE and GLORY of GOD.

Christ told his disciples I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am, there will you be also.

At present Christ is indwelling creation revealing the KINGDOM of God to creation.

Isaiah 63:9 ...and the ANGEL of HIS presence SAVED them ....

Colossians 1:27 ... thist mystery .... CHRIST IN YOU ......

That where I am ye may be also.

Revelation 10:11 ... Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and TEACH ALL NATION, BAPTIZING in the NAME .....

His disciples never understood till pentecost that they would not be able to TEACH ALL NATION, until they had been harvested and become the express IMAGE and Glory of God, all by the WORKS of Christ RESURRECTION.

    God Bless YOU!

    TammyC:

Matthew 13:30 Let them grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye FIRST the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

The field is the world, both the seeds of wheat and the seeds of tares are planted together, they grow together and are harvested together, but one goes to the fire and the other to the barn.

During Christ time everyone was associated with farming, today not many know much of anything about farming.

The tares are weeds, yet they also bear seed, the farmer burned the weeds to destroy their seed; so they, the weeds, would not keep multiplying, the wheat is gather into the barn to be replanted and thus multiplying.

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: the SEED is the WORD of GOD.

Christ is the SEED, the SEED (wheat) is gather into the barn and replanted so it will multiply.

Revelation 10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must go again (after your harvested) and prophesy again before many peoples, and nations and tongues.

Luke 20:36 Neither can they (the SEED) died anymore (you died with Christ): for they (the SEED) are EQUAL unto the angels; and are the children (the SEED) of God, being the children of the RESURRECTION (you were raised with Christ) ...

the new creation the new SEED.

Isaiah 59:21 And this is my covenant with them (the harvested SEED), saith the Lord (our Father), MY SPIRIT that is upon thee (Christ, the WORD, the SEED, and the WORDS (seed) that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy SEED, nor out of the mouth of thy SEED'S SEED forever.

    God bless you.

    The End of mystery

This great Angel comes "robed in a cloud." A cloud is characteristic again of the nation Israel. Remember that when Israel was marching through the desert they were preceded by a cloud by day and followed by a pillar of fire by night. Actually the same cloud came to the rear at night and was lighted from some kind of fire within so that it appeared as a glowing, brilliant pillar. Later, when the tabernacle was completed, and later still when the temple was built, this same cloud came down and filled the Holy of Holies. It was called the Shekinah, the cloud of glory, an indication of the presence of God. So right from the start we have a clue that identifies this Angel as the Lord himself, Jesus, God the Son, appearing as the Angel of Jehovah.

Then we learn he has a rainbow above his head. We last saw a rainbow in Chapter 4 of this book, around the throne of God. The Angel's face, we are told, was "like the sun," and "his legs [actually, the word is feet] were like fiery pillars." That takes us back to Chapter 1 where John saw the vision of Jesus standing amid the churches. John describes his face as shining like the sun and his feet were like burnished, glowing bronze. Here, as John watched, he saw the Angel plant one foot upon the land and the other upon the sea, so that he stood astride the earth as a giant colossus. This symbolizes, of course, his ownership of the entire earth. Here is the rightful owner of earth, standing like a great colossus, claiming the earth for himself. The last clue is that he "roared like a lion." This goes back to the scene in Chapter 4 where we saw the slain Lamb who is also the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He roars in triumph over the earth. So once again we have indications that Israel is coming into view again as God's people whom he desires to use in a special way throughout the period of judgment of the last days and to continue on into the establishment of the kingdom after the return of Jesus.

Revelation 10:1-4 is the instruction concerning the prophecy of the thunders. And we have the description of the angel in Verses 1 through 3. Daniel 10:21 and Ezekiel 1:28 can be referenced.

Many of these characteristics and descriptions are descriptions of Christ from Chapter 1.

Many have thought, especially Jehovah's Witnesses, because it says a mighty angel, that Jesus is not God, and that He's just an angel.

But there's some differences here taken with this small scroll. What is this small scroll? It is the property deed to the earth.

In the first line it says, and I saw another mighty angel. The word another, and there's two different words in the Greek text for another, another of the same kind, or another of a different kind.

This is another of the same kind, making reference to Revelation 8:3, another mighty angel.

There are only two angels in the bible that are called mighty angels. Back in the book of Daniel Chapters 7 through 12, we have Gabriel, and we have Michael.

Michael is the archangel. He's the head angel and he usually has to do with the business of the nation Israel. And he's constantly at war with Satan concerning the things of Israel.

And Gabriel is a messenger. We especially see him at the announcement of the birth of Christ.

So this has to be one or the other, either Michael, or Gabriel, that has come down from heaven, clothed in a cloud and a rainbow about his head. And all of this tells us that he comes in the authority of Christ. He had a rainbow upon his head, his face as the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire, and he had this small book.

As for the thunders, I believe it is making reference to Gods voice coming down from heaven. Revelation 4:5 and Psalm 18:13 causes me to believe that these thunders are the voice of God.

    Hope this helps!

It's the book that the "Faithful and Wise servant" receives at the end times after Christianity becomes like Judaism had become in Jesus' 1st coming. Then the "faithful and wise servant" goes and prophesies again to the nations, and pulls the faithful out... "Come out of her, my people!"
  • Richard H Priday - In Reply on Revelation 10 - 1 year ago
The simple answer is that both concepts hold true. The word "qeber" stands for the body and it's state of sleep i.e. death; so that no more emotions or function of any kind exist after the soul leaves the body. The term "sheol" was the O.T. place where all souls would go after death; now as believers of course we can hold onto the promise "absent from the body present with the Lord."

It would seem prudent to focus on what dying to self through our life in Christ means to us now. "It is not I who live" and "I am crucified with Christ ( Galatians 2:20) begins when we are "Born Again". We now are in a conflict between the flesh and the Spirit; if truly saved. (see Galatians again in chapter 5; verse 17). Christ has placed His seal; a down payment on our souls; and since Christ is eternal so is our life in Him ( Eph. 1:13-14). The "sanctification" process is a constant realization of what remains of our sinful flesh; as to how vile our affections are and the state of our bodies in this present world. Essentially; once we die we come to the end of that struggle.

We can look at it this way; eternal life BEGINS when we are saved; and He works from the inside out transforming us. Satan can be expected through his accusations to work as hard as he can to accuse us; distract us back to worldly thoughts; and to trick us in every way. It is in his best interests to render us helpless; to disarm our heavenly armor ( Eph. 6); to use people and situations as well as our own flaws against us; etc. God "chastises everyone He loves." ( Heb. 12:6). A messenger of Satan was allowed to buffet Paul after his great revelations ( 2 Cor. 12:7). Satan also tempted Christ; as well as influenced Peter. We certainly can expect the same; as God will often use this to bring us to our knees. The enemy of our souls always finds the weakest link and takes advantage of it. We are; however currently "seated in heavenly places." ( Eph. 2:4-6).

    Hope this is an encouragement.

Hi Jag. I don't think we can definitively state what this little book is (as seen in Revelation 10:8-11). My thought is, that when John took this little book, whether it was a real book or if it was a part of his vision he was given, and he ate it up, the result was interesting. It was sweet to the taste (lit. as honey) but became bitter in his stomach.

The words that John would later preach (after he returned from exile in Patmos), would be the wholesome pure words from God to the people, but its message would bring turmoil to many hearts & minds; to some the prophetic Word would be the cause of light, hope & revival to hearts, but to most others, grief & heartache to the many woes & trials in life that lay before them. However, from what we know of John (from other writings), was that he returned to lead a church in Edessa, modern Turkey, but don't know whether his ministry extended from there. But it seems that the prophetic Word would continue in his ministry, though for us, it ends with this Book of the Revelation.

Events, seem to be the significant time table to GOD, Genesis 15:13-16, Revelation 6:9-11, 2Peter 3:8-11, Romans 16:25, Revelation 10:7,

    Hey Henry,

Interesting thread, can we understand the wisdom of God? God is light and no darkness is in Him. "God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man". Can we understand what was done to Job? Can we understand why God allowed Satan limited control over the earth? Do we know why all the deaths, wars, and evil are allowed to be on earth? Do we overlook Jesus was sacrificed not only to reconcile things on the earth but also to reconcile things in heaven Colossians 1:20?

Did God allow Adam and Eve to sin? God has declared the end from the beginning and many things we have not been told, there come speculation that man is good at, self-included. There are two Adams in scripture and God's plan was before the world was. Can we ask the question, was the first Adam's purpose to start mankind; or was it for the same reason the last Adam was manifested that Satan had no clue? 1 John 3:8.

Isaiah 46:9-10 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

We cannot come close to grasping the wisdom of God and His plan. We must humble ourselves; we have been given a choice to accept the grace God has given us in the sacrifice of His only begotten Son. If we accept this gift of salvation, we give this fleshly life to Him.

God is in control, not free will, whether we understand it or not and we must trust God with what happens to us in this life even if we are killed. A time is coming when many will be. Our hope is not in this life but in the life to come.

    Job 38:1-4 Micah 4:12 1 Corinthians 2:14 Revelation 10:7

    Revelation 10: Concluding thoughts

Therefore; there is no more holding back judgment (See Jeremiah 15:1 for example). The "plumbline" is drawn ( Amos 7:7-9).

There is a distinct time frame where God says "enough" and Christ is set free with the righteous angels to procure judgment.

We see in the following chapters that in fact He uses Satan by giving him what he always wanted; control over the entire world.

Geographically; he doesn't gain all the territory; but surely with technology and his minions can enforce his mark worldwide through the 10 nations or regional confederacy that rule with him for "one hour". ( Rev. 17:12). It is an interesting sidenote; which I pointed out before about some who fight in the Ezekiel 38 war AGAINST Antichrist. Since one sixth survive it is possible that they did NOT recieve the mark of the Beast and have a chance at surviving into othe Millenium. In Isaiah 49:23 we see kings and queens being "nursing fathers" and mothers as it were (part of that obviously symbolic). In Jeremiah 31:16-17 we see further confirmation of this. This isn't the main point of the passage; but it shows how God may use captivity and even kidnapping to ultimately preserve the lives of children into the Millennium; the alternative being killed in Israel by Antichrist.

We need to see several larger themes here. God is using all this so that FINALLY as Christ is returning the nation will repent; and that in weeping. (see Zechariah 12:12). It seems hard to believe that the nations get it in regard to Christ and God in the sixth seal; and Israel remains blind that long. Romans 11:25 sheds some light on this; in regard to the "fullness of the Gentiles" which could be indicative of the Church Age ending; complete with the Rapture/Resurrections discussed previously.

Altogether; He uses Satan's own planning to draw men to the snare and trap of Armageddon where things come to a swift conclusion. No more delay can occur or no flesh would live ( Matt. 24:22

    Revelation 10

There is; no doubt an air of mystery (with a literal use of that word in verse 7 explaining the concept of "time no longer" in verse 6.). Given that we still have literal sequential fulfillments to come; surely it doesn't mean that the law of physics related to time and space are no longer in effect. The 1000 year reign to come surely verifies that fact. The most common explanation is that there is no longer any DELAY for these events to happen (see also Habukkuk 2:3).

The "mystery" here has been explained as the end of the church age; or the Rapture of the Church. I would say that it is better explained as the end of the "firstfruits" that are translated from the earth which actually began with Christ Himself; and a portion that came out of their graves after the Resurrection; those raptured and resurrected before the first seal; the 144,000 and the 2 witnesses. This could include the great multitude martyred who no man can count either. Whether some of these martyrs are lukewarm of the church left behind to be tested doesn't need to be argued here. The basic point is that there are faithful of both the Church Age and after (in the case of the O.T. saints another "dispensation" as it were. It is good not to be too bogged down with dispensational time boundaries; we see those saved by grace throughout history.

What we do see in the next few chapters is a shift to the religious and political nations and the Antichrist directly. Clearly some are hidden; and make it to the 2nd Coming. Once the 2 Prophets are martyred there is no more room for witnessing; and in fact God uses angels to preach as men are greatly scattered and no doubt barely can speak out against Satan's man as the beheadings ramp way up. God hiding His people in the wilderness shows that flight is the best option; and God's Word backs that up. We also notice once we get to the Bowl judgments that no man is able to enter in the Temple in heaven to pray ( Rev. 15:8)

Okay, no problem,,, I have to go to work but I can start with this.

Ezekiel 3:1 Moreover He said unto me, Son of Adam, eat that thou findest; eat this scroll, and go speak unto the house of Israel

3:3 And He said unto me, Son of Adam, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

Revelation 10:8 And the voice which I heard from heaven I heard speaking with me again, saying, "Go and take the Book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth."

9 And I went unto the angel, ... saying to him, "Give me the Book." And he saith to me, "Take it, and eat it up [receivethe knowledge]; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.

It was the knowledge of the book that caused them bitter.

The belly reference is a figure of speech, the word is koilia and the Usage: is belly, abdomen, heart, a general term covering any organ in the abdomen, e.g. stomach, womb; met: the inner man.

The Great City (Babylon) is symbolic for confusion whereby peoples, nations, and tongues are the wave of, and it's where God's Election Prophecy, whether during the Great tribulation, or during the Millennium.

I agree, we do not know how John died, Selah!

    Hey Royce

There are somethings that have not been revealed to us like the two witnesses. Scripture does tell us these two will be killed by the beast that will ascend from the bottomless pit so, if they have died in the past they could not be killed, this flesh only dies once, Heb. 9:27. Some look at the transfiguration with Moses and Elijah but this was before Jesus was crucified and His resurrection.

Jesus is the Firstfruits of those who slept, 1Cor.15:20, and the firstborn from the dead, Cor. 1:18, and no man has ascended to heaven, John 3:13. In Matthew 17:9 Jesus told them to not tell this vision to anyone, the transfiguration was a vision, Moses and Elijah were not there. If they were there Jesus would not be the Firstfruits of them that slept. They were given a glimpse of the kingdom of God, Mark 9:1

Could God transport Enoch or anyone else into the future? I'm sure He has that kind of power. There are thoughts of John may be one, John 21:22 and Revelation 10:11. I guess the only way to know is if we are still living when they show up and they say their names. My understanding, we can confuse other scripture like the vision of the transfiguration trying to answer a question we cannot be sure of the truth of the answer.

    God bless,

In the Bible book of Revelation, it is written that after Jesus has returned to Earth and the devil has been locked up for 1 thousand years and then released for a "short period of time."

My question is, when the Devil is released one final time before being thrown into the Lake of Fire, will Christians be "tempted" to sin??? In other words, I thought that after "Rapture" takes all of us Christians to meet with Jesus in the sky that our soul's are "permanently" savor by the Blood and Grace of Jesus. In other words, why would God release the "Lucifer" once again AFTER our salvation has already been established and we're in Heaven??? Is it possible that we (Christians) are once again going to be "tempted" to sin when the Devil is released for a short period of time before being thrown into the Lake of Fire for all eternity?

That is my question that I've been wanting to ask for many, many years!

    Thank You.

    Matthew 24:3-51, Mark 13:3-37,

Note : Matthew 24:8, Matthew 24:7, Matthew 24:21-24, these are Jesus Words, Matthew 24:29, " Immediately after the Tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." Matthew 24:29-31,

Please note: these all also recorded as Jesus Words : Mark 13:23, Mark 13:24-27, " But in those days after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. Sister Kay:

You are exactly right WE DIE daily.

Our mind of flesh being renewed to the mind of Christ.

We can only come to the TRUTH of the NEW BIRTH, it happens at the death of this body.

There is ONLY ONE LIFE, CHRIST, and Christ is God.

Our body of flesh dies, LIFE (God) continues, we switch BODIES.

1 Corinthians 15:38 ...and to every SEED; HIS (Christ is the SEED) own body. Seed always begats the same seed.

It is beyond our mind of flesh to comprehend that Christ can live in us, yet can also appear as a man walking in flesh.

This is what we can look forward to.

Christ said that where he is we will be also; Christ is IN CREATION bringing creation to TRUTH and LIFE.

We as priest (with the body of Christ) in HIS Kingdom, the likeness of Christ, will be IN CREATION bringing creation to TRUTH and LIFE.

Revelation 10:11 ....thou must prophesy again (in your new body) before many peoples and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Go ye into all the world teaching and preaching the gospel of the kingdom. This is only possibly in the next AGE (world).

Read and study: Isaiah 66:18-24 and Jeremiah 51:19-33 and Revelation 2:26-27

These are prophecy about the Sons of God, we not a perfect Son of God till we leave this AGE (world).

Hebrews 12:23 ...... and to the spirits of just men made PERFECT.

    God Bless YOU!

Brother James, God's will is that all men come to LIFE and TRUTH.

    I have a question?

What do you do when you depart this body of flesh? When only the spirit remains.

Hebrews 12:23 ....and to the spirits of just men made perfect....

Some of these men (apostles) were made perfect 2000 years ago; what have they been doing for 2000 years?

John 13:36 ....Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now (while you are in the flesh); but thou shall follow me afterwards (when only the spirit remains).

Christ is IN CREATION, (as the Holy Ghost), giving creation LIFE and bringing creation to TRUTH:

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY and ONE SPIRIT ...

Ephesians 4:6 There is ONE GOD, and FATHER OF ALL...

    God is LIFE and TRUTH.

When you leave this flesh and only spirit remains, you are ONE with GOD, ONE SPIRIT, ONE LIFE, ONE TRUTH.

Revelation 10:11 .....thou (John, also you as a ministering spirit) must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

John told the disciples to go unto ALL THE NATIONS preaching the kingdom of God; this is only possible after you become a spirit of a just man MADE PERFECT.

    The IMAGE OF GOD.

    GOD is SPIRIT.

    God Bless YOU!
