Discuss Psalms 1

    Hi Momsage.

The following verse " Psalms 1:1-6 speaks volumes!

There's a lot of doctrine built around this.

Vs 3 "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, THAT BRINGETH FORTH HIS FRUIT IN HIS SEASON; HIS LEAF ALSO SHALL NOT WITHER; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

    (HIS LEAF SHALL NOT WITHER!

    Forever being fruitful!)

Jeremiah 17:7-8 is another one that picks up on this.

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, NEITHER SHALL CEASE FROM YIELDING FRUIT.

Jesus uses this idiom in John 7:37-39 "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water

(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

    Also see John 4:10.

THANK GOD FOR HIS HOLYSPIRIT THAT SEALS AND GUIDES US!

    Psalms 1:1-6.

THE UNGODLY ARE NOT SO: but are like the CHAFF which the wind driveth away.

THEREFORE THE UNGODLY SHALL NOT STAND IN THE JUDGMENT,

(They will have their own Judgment)

NOR SINNERS IN THE CONGREGATION OF THE RIGHTEOUS.

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

(THE CHAFF IS NOT BINDING TO THE TREE AND HAS NO ROOTS AND NO FRUIT.)

More on the chaff. Matthew 3:11-12

    Praise the Lord!

This is why Psalms 1:1 says "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

    God bless.

    PSALMS 1: 1-2

    1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the council of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

    2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

What a wonder example for us. God Bless :)

    Amen Brother Chris.

These times shouldn't be no surprise,

    These days were prophesied.

We have to be aware of Satan's schemes. Some of this is his distraction.

I try to warn others of the schemes and remind them of who's behind them, not really interested in the debates.

Everyone amongst us is not of the wheat. Some or tares,

Every debate doesn't Identify the wheat or tares.

We Brothern sometimes end up in a debate but it shouldn't cause hate.

Hate for the Brothern signifies one lacking the Spirit of Christ.

Also we do not abandon the flock and join league with an enemy of the faith, "one who denies the work of the cross" just to be contentious.

The Holyspirit wouldn't cause us to do that!

It's not flesh and blood where the battle lies. It's a spiritual warfare. It's the spirit of truth what is being attacked by the father of lies.

There were warnings in early church of this very thing.

We must not let certain doctrinal debates consume us and begin a life long study trying to combat them, We can lead ourselves astray and neglect the great commission.

That's the primary attack of Satan.

When you see one join league with this movement or individual they have joined them in their work and shouldn't be spared.

Psalms 1:1 says Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

God bless you and others for all that you do Brother.

Dear William, I am so sorry that your girlfriend has treated you this way and thus ended your relationship. My sense is that it is now dead since she so easily has found another man. My suggestion to you is to be prayerful and seek God for wisdom, healing as you grieve this loss, and wait patiently for what God wants to do, not what you want to do. I will pray for you, William, since I know how hard this is to go through.

Dear Heavenly Father, how much William is hurting. We ask You in the name of Jesus to help him through this loss of the woman he loves, of the relationship that is ended, and the future that he thought he would have with here completely destroyed. I pray that You will comfort and lead William, keeping his heart stayed on You and give him the strength to really trust in You for what his future may hold. I know that You know when it would be best for You to bring the best and right woman into his life. This one he loved is not that woman, as far as I can tell since she mistreated him and the love they shared so terribly. Amen.

I am very sorry for your situation . When a person doesn't treat us very nice , it often means that they don't like or respect us . It seems that you have been very nice to her and she has not appreciated you very much . Maybe it's time you left her to get on with her life and you get on with yours . Try to find a girl who appreciates you , you , for who you are , not what you can do for her . There are many people out there who don't seem to mind using and abusing others for their own benefit , try to identify this kind of person before getting into a relationship with them , once you recognise the signs then move away from them . Do you read the Bible ? Say your prayers ? Attend a church ? Give thanks to God for His blessings towards you , ask Him to give you discernment when dealing with people , read your Bible and find a decent church . Maybe there you would find a nice lady who will appreciate you and whom you can give your love to .

    Sarah,

Welcome and it is wonderful that you are setting your mind, heart, and spirit to studying Scripture. I love the Psalms and Psalm one is my favorite. I have a poster with these words and a picture of a stream with little waterfalls as a background.

I think that the more you read and re-read passages of Scripture your mind stores it away to be brought forward by the Holy spirit at times you need it most.

It may be helpful to select out verses that speak to you and write them in a notebook so you can go back and re-read a verse and work on memorizing it. This is a way to meditate on the word. Another way that works for me is to take a select verse and try to make it into a melody to sing to yourself. This helps with recall.

    Scornful:mockery

    Chaff: Seed

The Hardest part of this chapter is the meditating part. I feel too comfortable with just trying my best to do the right thing and leaning on my own understanding of what the right thing to is.

Also, doing things my way. There is no prosperity doing it my way.

Today is the first day i am studying your word. I choose Psalms because i want my heart to be a heart after God and give the same unconditional love that he gave me.

    Dear Tyler,

I will pray for you today.

Dear Heavenly Father, We come to You today in the name of Jesus and ask that You lift up Tyler's spirit and set him on a new plane of inner health. We ask that You mend his soul and spirit in every way and relieve him of this melancholy feeling. Bring joy to His heart as he reads your Word. Father, we ask these things of you for Tyler today and each day because he is suffering and needs your mercy and power to rise up out of this emotional downturn. Amen.

Hello Tyler. I'm sorry to read of this 'hole' that you're stuck in, where nothing seems to be enjoyable to you or even worth pursuing. There are probably a whole bunch of reasons why we humans feel or behave in certain ways, whether it's in our genes, our family situation, our environment, lack of opportunities in life, even when there's no one to help & encourage us in some positive direction. I can relate somewhat to what you've written, as I've had a reasonably sheltered life (at least in my younger years), as far as friendships, interests or hobbies, even having parents who were very reserved in their lives & activities & what we kids were allowed to engage in.

There's no specific Scripture(s) that I can give that would help you, except to keep the matter before the Lord for His Work in your life, and also to extend yourself in some way or reach out to others (however difficult this might be for you), that might trigger the otherwise repressed motivation impulse in you.

The general verses that come to mind are: Psalm 37:5; Proverbs 17:22; Matthew 5:16; Galatians 6:9; Philippians 4:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Peter 5:7.

Some folk in this type of predicament might even visit a therapist, who would help identify any underlying emotional or other health problems & offer suggestions to kick-start your drive to trying out new things. Yet, some things in life require discipline; just as you would need to prepare food or clean the house, so too spending some time in Bible reading & prayer is very important. It's always an interesting journey when you commit this time to God & expect Him to reveal something special to you - this alone should motivate you, just as you are driven to feed yourself or live in a clean home. I pray that you might get a clear direction from the Lord & to pursue something that will bring glory to His Name & bless someone else in need.

There is a new verse of the day appearing on the home page of this site. In 1 year you would have read 365 Bible verses. They include Psalms but are not only for Psalms.

    May God bless you,

In my opinion, the prayers found in both Ephesians 1:16-23 and 3:14-21 will do the trick. Pray them over her and yourself every day.
